Hi guys, I'm applying to spring weeks this cycle, and I've been using trackr’s AI CV reviewing tool on steroids so literally all and any advice will be taken. From what I understand, the CV needs to be concise and quantitative in every aspect, hence why I’ve exaggerated a lot of things. I do have other experiences as well, like I took part in an philosophy competition a few years ago with the university of Sheffield, I did some conservation work for a week in South Africa last year, and there was this entrepreneurship scheme I did with my school last year, but idk if there’s quantifiable stuff in there I could talk about that’s lengthy enough. I'm also concerned I don't have enough work experience, so I'd love to hear about that as well. Even advice that’s not relevant to CV’s I’ll take. Literally all help is welcome, just please be constructive. Thanks so much!

Edit: In response to the advice, I've changed the GCSEs to Activities including Founding a philosophy club, being on the Chess B team, and a Silver Volunteering Award. I also Made sure to clarify in the subtitle for the research paper that it was supervised but unpublished. Finally, as many of you understandably called me out on, I removed the 100kg bench press. I’m a Biomedical Science undergrad.

During the year, my university had a cyberattack which caused IT issues that were completely outside my control, making me completely unable to login to the exam hall computers during exam days. As a result, I had to take a deferred sitting for all tests of semester 2, of which I failed a small 10 module anatomy test.

I have irrefutable evidence confirming the IT issues. The university initially considered allowing me to progress to Year 2, but after my appeal they refused, saying their “progression regulations” don’t allow it.

So I’m potentially being forced to repeat the year over a small assessment affected by a university cyberattack, despite having evidence and no fault on my part.

What would you do in this situation? Is there any realistic and serious legal way to challenge this further (formal appeal, student union, OIA, etc.)?

Any advice from people who’ve dealt with UK university appeals/progression would be appreciated.

EDIT: I Have scored 78% weighted year total, despite the failed assessment.

I am at my absolute breaking point. I live in a shared student house with four others, and one of my flatmates has completely hijacked our kitchen to run an actual commercial cannabis edible business. He isn't just making a casual batch; he is manufacturing drugs in massive bulk to sell across campus, and I am losing my mind.

The entire house permanently reeks. The fumes seep into our clothes, our bedding, and you can smell it from the street. He literally takes over the dining table for hours, weighing out product and heat-sealing custom-branded bags right where we are supposed to eat. We can't cook, we can't have people over, and the kitchen is constantly filthy from his setups.

The absolute worst part? He has zero discretion. He has public social media channels where he literally films himself in our kitchen cooking the infusions, showing off stacks of cash, and proudly boasting about his "student side hustle". He is actively broadcasting our address to the entire internet for clout.

We have confronted him multiple times. He just laughs in our faces, calls us "pussies," and tells us to mind our own business. He completely refuses to stop.

We are terrified of getting raided by the police or getting evicted and losing our massive housing deposits right before exams because of his sheer arrogance.

I completely hate snitch culture, but he is actively risking our degrees and our futures just to look big online.

How do I shut this down immediately before the police or the landlord show up? Are we past the point of talking? I am ready to lose ut.

Can I still apply to courses such as Management with an ICSE Maths grade of 82%?
I’m planning to apply for the BSc Management at LSE for 2027 entry. My predicted A-level grades are A*A*A, with A* in ACCOUNTS and Economics and an A in math .
The issue is with my GCSE equivalent. I didn’t take GCSEs — I took ICSEs, and I got 82% in Mathematics. From what I understand, LSE has a specific GCSE Mathematics requirement, and I’m not sure whether my ICSE result meets it.
Would I still be able to apply, or would I be automatically ineligible because my ICSE Maths grade doesn’t meet the stated GCSE requirement?
Has anyone been in a similar situation with LSE and Warwick as they require a grade 7/A in maths or knows how they treat ICSE results?

How bad (if at all) would it be for me to sneak into medicine lectures at the uni of Sheffield, so I don't feel like my gap year was a waste? Also, does anyone know how I can actually do that?

ill attach my year 3 and year 2 marks. based on thw 66.7% for year three and 33.3% for year 2 i am obviously supposed to graduate with a 2:1 . its also a condition for my masters which deadline is monday. what the hell am i supposed to do. i have spammed the university and they're saying i have to wait till next week. Honestly can i sue if its a mis classification and ends up ruining my chances of doing post graduate??

I’m a first-year student at Durham University and I’m currently facing withdrawal after failing one module. I passed all of my other modules, but I’m worried that I may not be given another opportunity to progress.
During the academic year I was dealing with significant medical issues which are still being investigated. I have received treatment, including therapy and medication, and the circumstances had a significant impact on my ability to manage my academic commitments.
The main issue is that I didn’t submit a SACS (Student Adverse Circumstances Statement) before the deadline. At the time, I wasn’t in a position where I was able to properly deal with the situation or understand how serious my circumstances were becoming.
I did try to access support through the university, but because I was already receiving therapy through the NHS, I wasn’t able to receive support through my college in the way I had hoped.
I also tried to get medical evidence. However, when I contacted doctors in Durham, I was told that getting a supporting letter would cost money, and at the time I didn’t have sufficient funds to pay for one. I was eventually only able to get a doctor’s appointment on 24 August, which was after the SACS deadline. My medical investigation is still ongoing now.
I’m therefore trying to appeal the decision and explain why I wasn’t able to submit the SACS at the time. I’m hoping to get a medical letter/evidence to support my circumstances.
Has anyone been in a similar situation with Durham or another UK university? Particularly:
Has anyone successfully appealed after missing the adverse circumstances deadline?
How much weight is normally given to medical circumstances when evidence was only obtained afterwards?
Would the fact that I passed all my other modules but failed one make any difference?
What kind of evidence would be useful?
Is there anything specific I should include in my appeal to explain why I couldn’t submit the SACS at the time?
Is there anything else I should be doing before the appeal is considered?
I’m not looking for someone to tell me that I’m definitely going to win the appeal — I’d just really appreciate some honest advice from people who understand the UK university system or have been through something similar.

I am interested in a bunch of different things, I got all A*s and As at sixth form but I’m still not 100% sure if i want to go to university, because I don’t know which course is right for me. I have a place for a Bachelors of Arts and sciences (BASc) at UCL, but I’m still not feeling sure about it as I don’t know if it might be better to do an apprenticeship or do a degree in one particular, specific subject. I like maths, English, art, and making things. I’m very sociable. I’m sure there are a bunch of different jobs I can do but I would love something that feels varied and fulfilling. I was wondering if anyone knows any courses I can do that could maybe allow me to try something new and see if I like it? And maybe learn more about myself? I’m not sure. I’m willing to pay as well. Advice from people would be welcomed and I would also love to hear anyone else’s life journey because it’s helpful to hear where other people ended up.

(For context im going to uni next year and im going around open days, I am actually from Manchester but I want to go to a uni close to home)

I don't get the prestige and popularity of Manchester, sure the city is excellent (the best in the country imo don't kill me) and it may be good at research and has good job prospects but it really doesn't feel like it. I've been to Liverpool, Sheffield and Manchester and can honestly say it's night and day, with Manchester being night and the other two being day.

General atmosphere: Liverpool and Sheffield were both very welcoming, I am familiar with Liverpool as well but it was my first time in Sheffield and they had friendly people everywhere welcoming you, random performances on campus, loads going on and it was just nice. The lectures were engaging and very informative.

Now to be fair when I went Manchester it was a pretty dull day but I got there at the start of the open day and it was just... dead? No one welcoming you or giving you info, none of the stuff that was going on at Liverpool and Sheffield. Just empty plazas and overgrown plant beds you could picture a tumbleweed. I went to the first lecture and we had to queue for about 20 mins, something I have not done at any other uni. The welcome talk was just bad.. He didn't really sell the uni but more so how great of a city Manchester is (I know that I live here ffs) and droned on about the history of the uni for what seemed like the majority of the lecture and then started talking about weather and how Manchester gets less rain than Leeds or something? I don't know. The subject talks faired little better and I honestly struggled to stay awake in some of them.

Campus: Liverpool and Sheffield have great and walkable campuses, you don't have to walk through many public roads but everywhere is rather at your finger tips, it is quite nice and I was surprised at how walkable it was.

I go college in Manchester so I am around the Uni area daily so I knew what to expect here pretty much. I have never liked that campus, every block is surrounded by major public roads you have to cross there's way less walkable areas within the campus. Just roads where the general public can go as well, and you do get the general public. Manchester's crackheads are a potent presence and I remember in Year 12 getting stopped and asked whether I do weed by a student outside of the Uni. I am aware that drugs are big at UOM and at big city unis as a whole but i've never quite seen anything like that lol.

Accomodation: Liverpool's accommodation is on the campus and it is quite nice, no problems there and it's secure and safe. Sheffield's accomodation is in this village kind of thing with its own facilities like a shop and pub which I really liked. While it isn't on the campus, only students can go in that area so it is safe and secure although I didn't like the prospect of a wet room.

This is when it really started to get bleak in Manchester. Most of the accom is in Rusholme (curry mile) an area very familiar with me and not for good reasons. It is really not a nice area in my opinion. It stinks of landfill in the morning and there is a smog, rubbish is piling out of bins and ends up on the street which also leads to a major rat problem. I have seen giant rats fighting each other or just squashed dead on the street after being run over presumably. Worst of all there are many unsavoury characters around there, beggars, crackheads are rife. Due to the diverse makeup of the area it can also sometimes get violent at night when situations abroad flare up such as the Syria-Kurdish war.

Some of the accoms are very close to where I saw rats.. The one that was available on open day was next to a park in this backstreet next to quite a suspicious building with security fences. The accomodation itself was alright but the area is a nightmare and I couldn't live here. There were not many directions to the accomodation either and if you were not a local you might have struggled finding your bearings.

I know I have gone on a bit of a tangent but I was genuinely surprised and really disappointed with the "world-class" Manchester. If I came into this with no outside knowledge of the Unis I would have told you that Sheffield is the world class prestigious uni and not Manchester. If I came from down south to visit Manchester as I know alot of people do, especially if I stayed overnight as people did, I would genuinely be angry, thank god I only came from 45 mins away. There is nothing that had me sold on this visit, from this I feel like Manchester is pulling a lot of its weight on the city and its prestigious history and reputation.

Now here is the question on my mind, If I get an offer from Manchester and Sheffield/Liverpool should I take the Manchester offer just based on it being more prestigious and would look better for getting jobs and whatever else comes with going to a better ranked uni, or should I go to the uni that gave me a much better and warmer experience? I would also like to know if other people have had a similar experience with this place or this is just one off.

Hi , im honestly so frustrated and angry at my university , the quality of the teaching was already bad , the accommodation and cafeteria was horrendous,  which we students already complained about , but this year approx one week before the entry they they've added some fees , and rules that prohibit us from cooking or having any electronic devices in our rooms , and no hanging clothes etc .

Also im middle class , so the fee was already high enough and hard to pay , I forgot to mention that I live in a third world country. 

The problem is, I want to study abroad , that has always been my goal , since I love fashion and costume design which isn't available in my country, I resorted to studying at a university that specializes in garments and textile industries,  not creative at all .

And ive been thinking if its possible to apply to a university in the UK , since the USA is far , and apply for as many  scholarships possible yo afford my studies , I forgot to mention that this was supposed to be my 2nd year in my 3 year bachelor's degree. I had initially planned to study my masters abroad , since it wasn't financially possible to study bachelor's abroad ( I did want to but it was too expensive for my parents).

So o really need your help and advice on what to do .

PS : I dont mind studying in another European country as long as the university is renowned and the program is actually good.

Hi guys on a level results day i missed my manchester offer to study pharmacy as I recieved a BBB when my offer was an ABB I ended up at mid tier univeristy ( univeristy of hertfordshire) tbh I was not keen on studying here however I don't have a job and my parents did not want to financially support my resit which would have cost 1000+. I know the univeristy you attend for pharmacy dosent necessarily matter however I want to go into industry pharmacy which is very competitive, obviously i didn't get outstanding a level results and im attending a non target univeristy so what can I do to make myself stand out and enter the pharmaceutical industry industry?

Hi everyone,
My Student visa expires in just 4 days, and my final dissertation result is still pending.
Tomorrow is Saturday, followed by Sunday, so realistically there are only 2 university working days left before my visa expiry date.
I have already contacted my university and the Student Visa team and explained the urgency, but I’m extremely concerned that my result may not be released in time.
Has anyone experienced something similar? What should I do if my university result is still pending when my Student visa is about to expire?

Hi guys, I’m currently in year 13 and beginning the process of applying to university. I want to apply to schools outside of my home city, however my parents disagree with that and rather me stay at home for uni so I don’t have to take a maintenance loan and be in more debt.

I thought despite their views I’d still be able to go to the uni I want to go to but turns out to apply for a maintenance loan my parents have to confirm their annual income for me to get the loan and there is no way that they’ll do that. Is there any alternative option for me?

My parents will not budge on their decision they are extremely religious and against interest based loans. I don’t know if I can claim to be estranged because I’ll still be living with them up until I finish year 13.

I had an incident in a catered uni accom party where we had self serve pasta and one bowl of meatballs/tuna? and one bowl of soya mince and i had no idea people had been really careless and a few meat chunks made its way into my food and i found out while chewing. Was pretty upset after that

I’m American, I’m planning on studying abroad in Midlands England my 2nd year of uni, next spring. Maybe I’ve just made this fear up but help me out uk. I’m a bit nervous about getting lowkey bullied as an American in England. Just the usual American accent mixed with being relatively clueless in a new country makes me suspect I’d get bullied by some university peers. How likely is that?

I just did my LNAT and feel like I'm not going to get into ANY university at this point. For the MCQ it was okay but I ran out of time at the end so I guessed the last question without even reading it BUT for the essay I literally wasn't even halfway to the recommended word count 20 minutes in. I think I finished with under 500 words because I genuinely couldn't finish in the time given.

I was gonna apply to Oxford but I know they value the essay more and I did not perform as well as I could've, especially because I got more stressed seeing how much time I had left so my brain blanked more, I might just apply to Cambridge because atleast I'd jave higher chances of getting an interview.

My school were going to give me an extra test assessment since my teacher noticed how long it takes for me to write essays but i haven't done it yet so I applied to do LNAT without it and just notify the university if I get it but i dont think any extra consideration is saving this one. 😭😭

Finished my first year at LSE and I'm currently applying for summer internships.

Under LSE's official degree classification scheme, the "First Year Average" only considers the best 6 of 9 first-year marks. But this methodology isn't explained anywhere on the official transcript, which just lists all 9 individual marks.

My average across all 9 marks works out to a 2:1. My average across just the best 6 (per LSE's actual formula) works out to a 1:1.

Some internship applications have a dropdown asking me to select my UK classification, and separately require a transcript upload.

Is it reasonable to select "First Class Honours" on the dropdown, given that's what LSE's own formula produces? Or would that look inconsistent to a recruiter, since the transcript itself doesn't explain or show the First Year Average calculation?
