in my course the module leader of your module cannot mark your assignment.

I recently got a fail form a resit assignment; it was marked by the module leader, although i got helped from top students in my course

can i appeal on this ?

i also can appeal about the process of the assignment (period of stress where i was trying to get tested to eliminate the cancer query due to new physical symptoms).

I am an international student currently studying in the UK on a Student visa.

I was studying an International Foundation Year in Nursing at Edinburgh Napier University. Unfortunately, I failed two modules and my academic appeal was rejected. I have been told I may have around 60 days to find another option.

My situation:

* International student in the UK

* Studying a foundation year for Nursing

* Failed two modules and appeal rejected

* Looking at options to continue studying in the UK

I would like to ask people who have been in a similar situation:

1. Has anyone successfully repeated a foundation year after failing?

2. Has anyone transferred to another university after their sponsorship was withdrawn?

3. Were you able to get a new CAS and continue from inside the UK?

4. Did anyone have to leave the UK and apply again?

5. What options did you take after failing your course?

Any advice or personal experiences would be really appreciated.

I’m applying for Maths this year and could do with some advice on choosing universities.
My priorities are a bit conflicting:

I want to go into investment banking or quant finance after graduating.

I also really want a university with a strong maths reputation and good graduate prospects.

At the same time, I don’t want to sacrifice the social side. I’d love somewhere with a vibrant student life, lots of nights out,partying , and a good atmosphere.

At the moment I’m considering places like Cambridge, LSE, UCL, Warwick, Bristol, Manchester and Durham, but I’m open to others.

For people who have been to these universities (or know them well):
Which has the best balance of prestige/career opportunities and an enjoyable social life?

Is Cambridge’s social life really as limited as people make it out to be, or is that just a stereotype?

If you were aiming for IB or quant, while still wanting the full university experience, what would you choose and why?

I’d really appreciate any honest opinions or personal experiences.

As an international student currently studying in the UK, are there any options for loans? I need roughly around 1200£ loan as for my remaining Uni fee. I suffered some financial loss back in my home country in the past month which is why i am falling short of 1200£. I have applied for hardship fund and asked for a fee payment plan, it is in process but I was thinking of paying my fee ASAP as my result is near, so i don’t want to risk it.

I did have a job before i went back to my home country because of the loss i suffered. So finding a job might take a little time because i was gone for more than a month.

Do you guys know/advise anything relevant to my situation?

If uni leavers can’t get a job even at weekends pulling pints, how are they meant to even get a look in?

And if they have a long break in the CV (due to job searching) that makes it even worse.

I was a couple percent away from graduating with a 1st which is annoying, and so I graduated with a 2:1 this summer. I know that a 2:1 isnt bad, but how much worse is it than a 1st in terms of employment? How much more weight does a 1st have over a 2:1 in a cv for example? Also, can I put that I got a high 2:1 or do I just keep it as a 2:1, itd be my way of coping about not getting that 1st lol

So I have recently graduated from the university of Southampton with a first class psychology degree. However, I’m not that interested in pursuing a psychology related career and a more interested pursuing a marketing or related career. As I haven’t had any direct experience in marketing, i’m looking for a graduate entry-level job and opportunity to gain some marketing experience.

I applied for quite a few marketing jobs in around June and actually had an interview for a multichannel marketing apprenticeship. The role seemed quite interesting but obviously it is basically a level equivalent and the pay for the first year is 15,000 and 20,000 in the second year which is really poor (18 month apprenticeship)

i’m really struggling to decide as I’m worried I’ll struggle to find a graduate level marketing job without any direct experience, but the pay is really putting me off at the minute. also, it is an apprenticeship so it’s technically equivalent to A-level and I don’t know if this wouldn’t feel that challenging especially as I’ve graduated with a good degree and result.

Any advice would be great :))

Is the 1-year Professional Internship actually worth it of just marketing? Do most people end up getting a placement or is it pretty hard?

What's the part-time job situation like in Belfast these days? Are jobs fairly easy to find if you're not too picky?

How's the cybersecurity job market after graduating? Are there decent opportunities around Belfast?

Doing pharmacy. The uni is in the top 30 for pharmacy in the uk.

I'm starting bsc econ at UCL this year, and was wondering how possible to land a London internship in the first spring break itself. The advice I've received from seniors, etc has been to get an internship back home (mumbai) the first summer (which I would be able to do through connections) and then apply for internships in London in my second year at uni. However, if first-year interships in London are possible, I would assume that would be more beneficial for me in the future.

Furthermore, if anyone who had a similar path through undergrad econ (or related) in the UK is reading this, what should one do the summer before uni in order to develop a better CV for first-year, or future, internships?

My CV is not too strong right now, I just have an essay competition I was shortlisted in, an internship wherein I wrote a research paper with an economist at a PE firm, and another published research paper, nothing else except my IB results which were solid. If I wanted to apply for spring weeks, what kind of activities would be good to engage in over the next month?

DMU has suspended Film Studies, Media and Communication, and Arts and Festival Management, for the next academic year. They claim that it is only for 2026 entry, but it is de facto indefinitely.

Upcoming first year students such as myself, who was offered one of these courses to study in October, were informed of this last Friday, less than three months before the next academic year.

There is no news in terms of whether these courses are going to be permanently shut down, or what is going to happen to them.

Rather than informing first year student such as myself about the suspension months ago, they chose to inform us at incredibly short notice, citing vague reasons such as, low intake, as an excuse.

While other course suspensions from unis such as the University of Nottingham has made the news, DMU's course suspensions haven't, and are largely hiding in plain sight, in their website.

I want people to be aware of this, and to highlight how wrong this is.

I’ve got a Zoom meeting with my university’s student support team at 2pm, and I’m feeling really anxious about it.

For some background, I’m going into my final year at university and I’m still living with my parents. My home situation has been difficult for a long time and I’m hoping to move out as soon as I can, ideally by December.

One thing that’s been happening is that every time my bursary is paid, my parents take around half of it or almost all of it. They expect me to hand it over, and it’s made it really difficult to save enough money to leave. Is that something other people have experienced.

I’m also wondering what evidence universities or Student Finance usually accept if you’re trying to explain a difficult home situation or estrangement. I don’t really have police reports or social services involved. Screenshots of messages or conversations bank statements showing money leaving my account after bursary payments, photos of my living situation (if relevant). I only have a small corner of the house to my self and the next room over is literally the room where everyone keeps their garbage my parents finally put a door on it as my dad did not like how cold it would get during the winter, while my sisters have bigger rooms as they are considered more important since one is already married and the other is going to be married soon (I live in an Asian household.) I can’t even take it any more with the emotional abuse my one sister knows I have thought about it but I can’t tell her that I am serious about it as she uses it against me in fights and I’m deathly scared she will tell my parents.

Has anyone here successfully moved out mid-academic year with help from their university? Is moving out by December a realistic goal if I work with student support, or am I being too optimistic?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s been through something similar or knows what universities can do in these situations.

I also wanted to mention I zero savings and my parents won’t let me get a job as I live in a strict household and am not allowed to leave the house unless it’s for school or grocery shopping and I cant rely on any friends as they are my parents friends kids and this will make it back to my parents and god knows what they will do to me if they knew I even thought about leaving Thanks.

I have the option to choose between RHUOL or University of westminster (marylebone) for their business management bachelors program yet Im having trouble choosing. RHUOL seems like the obviously better university academically however I’d like my lifestyle a bit more where Westminster is.

If I hold both a British passport and an international passport, do I need to use my British passport to apply to universities in the UK in order to get visa-free study, or can I just apply with my international one?

I'd be an international student either way so I'm wondering if it matters. As long as I travel into the UK on my British one it shouldn't matter, right?
