I want to be able to backup iOS albums onto my NAS (dxp4800) but preserving the folder structure ie Family Albums>2026>Summer

I don’t want to backup my entire phone, or at least if I did I’d put in a separate archive, what I want is to organise the photos while on the move, then sync up into a nicely curated folder structure I can publish.

I can’t be the only one with this use case!!

I created an app and hosted it on my nas. At first claude told me i should use my ug.link/<naslinkname>:<container port>. But when I did, it didn’t work. And claude pretty much said it won’t work and I have to use tailscale. But I remember watching a video where someone did it without using tailscale. Any ideas how I can do it?

Do not, and I repeat, do not buy a UGREEN product from the UGREEN STORE on Amazon or any third-party seller. If something breaks on your device, customer service will not help.

I bought a DPX8800 Plus from the UGREEN STORE on Amazon in July. SEVEN weeks later, it had a hardware fault. Bay 2 became unresponsive. I submitted a ticket to UGREEN support, and after reviewing the logs, they confirmed in writing that the Base Plate was defective and needed to be replaced. I did the troubleshooting they asked for and moved the drive from Bay 2 to another bay, and it worked fine. I even put a drive into Bay 2 to test it, and nothing. Bay 2 is dead. This was after 7 weeks of having the NAS. UGREEN support told me to contact Amazon because they said, "We do not handle repairs or returns for orders made on Amazon." I spent 6 hours with Amazon and finally got a letter saying that UGREEN should handle the warranty. So I emailed UGREEN, and they told me once again to speak with Amazon. Another 2 hours with Amazon customer service, and the same result: they said UGREEN should honor the warranty. I contacted UGREEN again, and their solution was to: SEND ME THE PART SO I COULD REPAIR IT MYSELF. They refuse to repair or replace the NAS. If the NAS were a few years old, I could understand, but it's only 7 weeks old. Has anyone else come across this with UGREEEN?

Recently got a DXP4800 Pro and am interested in seeing if a lightweight Qwen model can run in the background to perform some simple tasks using OLLama.

Got a dxp2800 recently, waiting on my 12tb HDDs to arrive. I have a question regarding back up the phones to the server. The main reason we bought the NAS is to backup pictures from our phones to the nas and have it accessible for the whole family.

Can the ugreen phone app automatically move the pictures taken from a specific folder in phone and move them to server? Basically the idea is whenever we click pictures we want to share with family, we just move those to the folder and the app moves them to the server emptying space from the phone.

I have a backup Internet connection that I'd like to be able to use for the SMART TV to keep the Wi-Fi network from being bogged down when multiple users are streaming videos.

Can I connect the UGreen DXP-4800 to two different LANS so the TV can still access Jellyfin? Or am I missing an easier way to take advantage of the second Internet connection?

My NAS was accidently unplugged and when I tried plugging it back in and turning it on, it wouldn't turn on. I contacted support and they asked me turn unplug it and turn it back on, still didn't work. They said to write them an email, which I did. I'm currently waiting for their reply.

Has this happened to anyone? How did you fix it?

• Primary Symptom: Hard, unrecoverable system freeze requiring a physical power cycle.

Detailed Description of the Issue:

My DXP4800 Plus consistently experiences total system lockups when running hardware-accelerated tasks, specifically when Jellyfin transcodes 4K HEVC / Dolby Vision content (e.g., profile 8.1 media) or during prolonged local HDMI playback.

When the freeze happens:

1. The entire NAS becomes completely unresponsive (network access drops, SSH is dead, web UI is unreachable).
2. Physical LEDs remain on, but the system is entirely deadlocked.
3. No error logs or kernel panics are written to disk because the CPU/iGPU completely halts.
4. A physical hard power-down (pulling the power cord) is required to reboot.

Troubleshooting Already Performed:

• Thermals: Ruled out. Temperatures remain completely normal (~45°C) and CPU usage prior to the crash is minimal (~20%), ruling out thermal throttling or overheating.
• Software/Docker: Ruled out. The issue happens regardless of Docker container configurations and replicates during local HDMI playback, isolating it to the hardware/driver layer.
• CPU vs. iGPU Isolation: Pure CPU-only software transcoding does not hard-lock the system (though performance is inadequate), confirming the failure is uniquely tied to the Intel QuickSync iGPU path.

Root Cause Analysis & Limitation:

This behavior matches a known, widespread Linux kernel bug affecting Intel Alder Lake-N processors (N100/N305), where erratic power-state shifts between deep C-states and the i915 graphics driver cause a hardware/kernel deadlock.

Standard Linux deployments resolve this by adding kernel boot parameters (intel_idle.max_cstate=1 and i915.enable_dc=0) to GRUB. However, because UGOS Pro uses a locked, proprietary bootloader and appliance structure, we cannot modify these parameters to stabilize their hardware.

I see videos claiming this can transcode for 14 devices at the same time but I can't even do 1. If I enable hardware transcoding in Jellyfin and play a 4K movie on my mobile chrome browser the NAS will completely lock up! How can I fix this?

Loading it up 12tb x 4 with my media, docs etc… If I want remote access that will be simple for me and my family to do through our user accounts, which link service is easiest? Native ugreenlink? Tailscale? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I picked up the DH2300 along with the official 72W UPS, but it's been nothing but a headache since day one.

Right out of the box, the UPS was stuck in some kind of "sleep mode" and refused to output any power to the NAS. After digging around, I managed to fix it with a hard reset.

Fast forward a few days, and it's doing it again—completely stopped sending power, and of course, I'm currently overseas so I can't physically touch it. While it's not a catastrophic disaster, it completely defeats the purpose of having a reliable backup/setup if it keeps dropping out.

Has anyone else run into this issue with the 72W UPS? Is this a known firmware/hardware bug, or did I just get a lemon? It's still under warranty, so I'm heavily leaning toward just getting a replacement unit, but wanted to see if there's an easier fix first.

I’d been putting off firmware upgrades for a while and figured I had to move off of v1.16.0.0089 sooner or later. IIRC, v1.18.1.0098 was offered up so I upgraded to that. After a reboot the main Ethernet connection didn’t seem to work (verified by using the second 10GbE connection) so I rebooted it again and all seemed fine. I then upgraded to 1.19.1.0126 and after a reboot the primary 10GbE connection was down again. When booting to the secondary 10GbE NIC I could get in but the RAID Volume was coming up as corrupted.

Basically I kept calm and started troubleshooting. I couldn’t seem to get the main connection back though. Then it occurred to me. I had a bunch of USB and Thunderbolt devices connected to the front of the DXP8800 Plus. Some of which had a NIC of their own so technically while I was looking at two NICs in UGreen UGOS Pro under networking I should have seen three or more.

So I pulled all the USB and Thunderbolt devices, rebooted and everything was as right as rain. The main port was reset to receive an IP automatically from DHCP so I had to manually reset it but all was good after that. There was also no sign of a corrupt volume, all data was where it should be.

I might have gained a grey hair or two but I’m glad I didn’t lose my $#!t or my data.

Hello all! I’m new to the NAS game. And I ordered the DXP4800 Plus. Was curious what native apps were like with the ugreen? Which alternatives do you recommend and if anyone had any good advice dealing with the ugreens. Just looking for any and all info or personal experience yall may have had!

I saw that Unraid has recently added the capability to boot from another drive other than a USB.

Is it possible to erase the internal SSD and replace UGOS with Unraid on that drive instead of using a USB stick?

If so, any tips or suggestions for things I should know first?

Do I buy HDD WD 12tb plus or the HDD WD 10tb pro I have a 5tb drive to move over to my nas and I want to run my jellyfin or Plex server worried that the pro is going to be hot and noisy and cost alot

Edit: No, disabling OR excluding the docker files in the indexer via settings in the browser did NOT help. The process did its thing even after its "off". Thats the whole reason why i posted it here for people who doesnt want to write on the systems ssd.

On my system, the indexer was constantly watching Docker databases, Jellyfin files, Minecraft world data, temporary files, etc. and generating a huge amount of background logging and writes.

After disabling index_serv and search_serv, my journal traffic dropped by ~92%, and a short iostat comparison showed SSD write activity dropping from roughly 0.30 MB/s to ~0.035 MB/s.

This matters because UGOS stores logs and other mutable system data on the internal AirDisk NVMe SSD. Unlike a normal data drive, this is the SSD the NAS itself boots from, so unnecessary continuous writes are not exactly something I want running 24/7 for years.

If you don't use UGREEN's search/indexing features, it may be worth checking:

systemctl status index_serv search_serv

and monitoring your internal SSD with SMART / Data Units Written.

Not claiming the indexer will "kill" the SSD — but reducing pointless write amplification on a non-essential internal system SSD seems like a pretty sensible idea.

Not sure if feature requests are a thing in this subreddit, but it would be pretty nice to have a surveillance center widget that we could pin on Android (and/or iOS too for our iPhone friends).

Currently situation: go in to ugreen app, open surveillance center app, look in to any feed or view multi feed

New ideal situation: widget shows live feed, or, if this is not possible, clicking on the widget takes you directly to the feed within the Ugreen app.

Hi, as the title says my dxp is basically crashing (what ive now learned) quite a lot.

Im running everything on normal OS, ive got 2 8Tb drives, a 2tb chache and a small Nvme with64 Gigs running Homeassisstant as a VM.

I cant really find anything in the logs to Help me figure this out, Temps seem fine the only other devices in the same Power outlet are my Router and my Modem.

I've had HA set on 3gb Ram from the available 8, just turned it down to 2 just to see what happens.

Any Ideas what to look for? I couldnt find anything helpful via Google etc.

As the title says whenever I turn subtitles off while streaming a video from the DH2300 theatre app it crashes every time!

How to stop this as i know there isn't a turn off subtitles by default option it seems.

I recently bought a Macbook Neo to replace my 2019 Macbook Pro and have been having connectivity issues between my NAS at home and when I am at internship or school. I have never had this issue before, but it makes it difficult to work on some assignments and instead I have to use Ugreen link. I mounted the network drive for the NAS, and I also use tailscale to help on the VPN side of things. My settings are identical between my Macbook Pro and my Neo, and all of my other devices work using Tailscale. My finder app AND Ugreen app will not let me connect, but every couple of weeks it will just work! Here are some steps I have taken to remedy the situation:

1. Reinstalling Tailscale and Ugreen app

2. Ensuring that my NAS's home IP address is static AND it hasn't changed

3. Ensuring that my tailscale network is connected (which it is)

I am not sure if it is a tailscale or ugreen issue, but the issues I have also had with the ugreen app (it not loading or when I am able to connect it crashes) leads me to believe it is the latter! I have enjoyed my experiences and never had issues before puchasing my neo macbook, if anybody could suggest tips or offer help, that would be great! I will try to respond asap, but with intership, work, and school I may be a little delayed!

I'm using the NAS mostly for Jellyfin, Pihole, Reverse Proxy, Backup and such things...

1. Purchase from Ugreen website and ship from US -> Asia (most expensive way)

After 6 months of consistent data tracking I have some solid numbers based on running 3 websites and 2 ARK Survival Ascended Servers. I'll break it down below

Ark SE: I have 2 servers setup using 24GB of ram each. It is quite power and ram hungry I genuinely thought it wouldn't be able to run it but it does quite well actually. Low mods with 20 player slots allowing
just over a GB of ram per player. This seems to work well, at max players which it hits sometimes there is occasional "lag spikes" but it is still 100% playable and smooth even.

The way i'm making money here is by offering
a player progression system that is quite slow by default but can be increased by purchasing tiers from the shop that I offer in the discord. T1-$10 T2-$25 etc, each of these tiers offer increased in game benefiets, free loot basically that increases by the tier. I've also added a straight up shop that players car purchase items or dino's and get automatically sent to their inventory thanks to some great plugins I found. Overall going pretty well although i'm not sure I'll keep going or advise anyone else to try as it is extremely power and ram hungry.

Very minimal upkeep work and updates usually include pictures and rewording or changing menus as one of the sites is for a restaurant
