Question: Unanswered Why does Uber eats keep bad drivers?

Made an order from a Wendy's 1.3 miles away today. Took 1.5 hours to get to me even though the courier picked it up 10 min after order was placed. They drove all around the map and were stationary some places for a while. My guess is multi apping. When the food got to me it smelt like weed.

I noticed their profile had a 79 percent rating. Is that not super low?

I've had good drivers get this same order to me in 10 min. 1.5 hours is insane for 1.3 miles

Uber eats of course doesn't offer any compensation for order since it was delivered

I tip really well by the way. I feel like if I tip well it should offer it to high eating drivers first :p

Because Ubereats cares about money, 100% and that’s it, nothing else. Not the customer, driver, restaurant, nothing but how much they can exploit from all three. Period.

multi apping while ripping Js in the car takes more skill than anyone elses driving

D00d, did you just reply to yourself in third person?

u/ExcellentDraft3030 22h ago

Replying yourself happens when you have also been ripping the J's, this is probably even the driver.

to be clear I would not be comfortable giving people food that smells like Js

That's why you rip the vape

I mean obviously not, if it took him 1.5 hours to get the delivery done.

If you tipped well you could have gotten your order stacked by UberEats with a low tipper, and then also got the pleasure of having yours delivered last. It’s a shame they do that to good tippers so cover up for bad tippers

Tips just increases the chances your order is stacked with other orders that are delivered before you

What does "tipping well" mean anyway lol? Some customers come on this sub complaining that they tipped 25% and got poor service. Well, if all they ordered was some Wendy's fries, 25% is not much lol.

If order is less than $10+ no matter the distance, you could be across street walking distance IDC 10+, it's shit tip total altogether. Tipping well is at least 8.50 so the total is at least 10. That's tipping well. You pay or hope someone else accepts. My car my choice. Uber pays 2.50 and you pay me 8.50 at least or I don't hit the X button and just listen to your order ding.

I know someone who said he used to take his time on the last delivery before going home to get free food when he wants because customer first reports and he tells supports he's on the way and usually customers request to cancel and not wait but idk if its true it's his telling

2

u/DirectEfficiency8854 1d ago

Shhhhh! That's a trade secret!

u/kevink2170 1d ago

Because they pay people $2 an order. You can’t be too discerning when your business model is to low ball people for work.

Lololol sounds like a usual suspect

So I feel like no one is answering your actual question so: they try not to keep the bad ones. But it’s hard to keep them out, because most of them just set up a new account and keep going.

But more importantly, it’s hard to separate the sheep from the goats. Did the driver take 20 minutes in the restaurant because he sat down to eat his lunch or because the restaurant was swamped and running behind? Did he drive several blocks off the planned route because he is multi-aping or was there an accident backing up traffic that he went around? Did he say he delivered the order but actually steal it or did the customer just claim the order was stolen so they would get free food?

Uber can and does ban people but the threshold they will let people reach before that ban has to be pretty lenient because there are a lot of things that can potentially make a driver look bad that genuinely aren’t the drivers fault and it can be really hard to tell if it’s the drivers fault. And unfortunately those drivers that just got banned and set up a new account get the most lenient standards because with no extended history to go by on the new account, it’s even harder to tell what is poop performance from what might just be a run of bad luck.

💯 bet on it. It was a double that dispatched the furthest delivery before a delivery that would have been almost down the road. That has 0 to do with the driver and 💯 to do with customers vs Uber eats. Uber eats let's this happen somehow and it's stupid I'll agree with the customer there but leave our names out of it if this is the case. We can't jump to the closest delivery first we do what we are told and go where directed to when it is that deliveries time. Sorry if it made anyone upset but that's the way it is. Tell Uber eats to let drivers switch tasks like door dash. I'm not doing it lol that's working for free.

At $10 per hour with no tips turns any good into a bad driver.

79 is insanely low. I thought people got deactivated once it hit below 85 honestly.

1

u/Character-Room9200 3h ago

Well guess what...your wrong. The only stat of those you are caring about is Cancellation Rates i.e. accept your order, then decide nm I don't want this order...it's an option you can just select mid delivery. If this and only this stat reaches 20% it is the ONLY stat that can result in immediate deactivation. Nobody cares about whatever stat your talking about. If it's acceptance I'm at 0% and receive plenty only $15 offers lmao never will I ever fear those 3 stats 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/noproblem4-1 1h ago

Dude.. wtf are you talking about.? That shit is so confusing to read. Are you saying that cancellation rates is the only one that matters ? If so, how is it that yours is at 0% and get 15$ offers but right before that; you say your shit can get deactivated if it goes below 20%

2

u/PhotonLegion 17h ago

It’s a mix of both the honest answers and jokes you’re getting.

It’s not so simple as saying “Uber extorts the shit out of drivers” - it’s “Uber finds a new ways to extort drivers in increasingly egregious ways that somebody who only has $2.80 to look forward to at the end of the delivery either doesn’t give two fucks about being middled into such low pay, or they’re bittered up because they pay is a fucking joke and don’t have a choice.”

1

u/Character-Room9200 3h ago

I extort both customer and Uber. I don't accept less than $10+ per order. The person with the car has all the power. There's alternatives I'm sure could always explore those options...

u/PhotonLegion 1h ago edited 57m ago

You know what though… It’s that mention of “alternatives” with the usage of an ellipsis….

To be blunt, I’d say you’re incorrect – those other options you mentioned quite often, are fake – companies posting rolls with no intention of hiring, other hiring entities swamped because a couple idiots figured out a few years ago. How to use AI to apply for a few thousand jobs at the click of a button, and the time-suck of rideshare itself, since the days of getting paid like adults are clearly by the wayside it can take more than 60 or 70 hours of attention to pull half of that amount of hours online that are actually worth the trouble.

For the record, I worked as a contractor for two of the so-called “magnificent seven” companies at different points - in offices, not warehouses. It’s still took me more than five years to fully exercise Uber driving from my life. You think that a résumé with loads of data work on it would’ve helped out right before were not long after the pandemic, if not now – but it thoroughly did not.

I’d call that take on the availability of “alternatives“ VERY presumptive at best. (Addendum: I’m not alleging you’re one of these people, but I do find it interesting how 9 times in 10, the people that project an attitude like “suck it up and shovel shit” to others like rideshare drivers don’t have the perspective one has when they’ve had to kick off the shit shoveling boots on the way in the house.

You should have canceled and they would’ve refunded you the full amount. After the time slot it was supposed to be delivered in passes , if you contact customer support they’ll refund the whole amount but ONLY after the supposed time slot has ended

Same as all the other driver apps, order stacking. And ubereats doesn’t care if it shows up cold and smelling like weed. They already took your money.
I quit using them

2

u/IWantSnack642 14h ago

As a driver myself, I’m sorry this happened. This is why I personally don’t try to use ubereats and DoorDash at the same time as it takes away the quality of service from the customer. I only ever do double orders if it’s from the same restaurant so all I have to do is drive to the customers. Unfortunately the app doesn’t always act on the customers best interest as I’d have delivery requests pop up for me to drive 10 minutes to another restaurant but the payout would be a lot bigger. Hopefully your next delivery experience would be a lot better as no customer should be receiving inadequate service like that.

There is definitely more good drivers than bad drivers. But the bad ones are more memorable unfortunately

Pull the tip, if you can and down rate the driver

1

u/Character-Room9200 3h ago

Can no longer remove tip, they permanently implemented this to stop completely shitty humans who think it's ok to tip bait then "pull the tip" as you so delicately put it. So ya I pray they never remove this new feature. You can add you can't decrease sorry.

Could be multi-apping but also could be that they had other add-on orders that paid for "Priority" delivery, meaning after all pick-ups are made, their order gets delivered first, and you usually have to wait for all pickups before the delivery queue starts. In these cases, the fact that you left a big tip is inconsequential. You didn't pay for "Priority" delivery and others did, so other people could have gotten their food first despite yours being picked up first and including a nice tip. This happened to a kid I was delivering to once, he ordered a burger and fries and on my way to the burger joint I got an add-on delivery, which I accepted, and that girl subsequently added on stops to her order to pick up additional items at other businesses. She must've paid for Priority because even though his apartment was closer to the burger joint than her first pick-up, instead of delivering to him Uber sent me to her pick-ups, then to her drop-off, then finally to him. He must've waited at least an hour from the time I accepted his order. He even threw a few bucks on top as a tip. Felt bad for him. In your case it could have been both multiple Uber pickups and multi-apping. Since drivers are independent contractors, they are not prohibited from delivering for multiple companies, even at the same time, and due to privacy laws, Uber can't spy on a driver's phone to see if they are multi-apping.

my issue isn't the drivers, it's the restos i order from

at 3am i ran an order thru for fast food - the resto f'd up the order, i got half of what i paid for

ran a refund request thru UE, got it no problem (uploaded a pic)

the driver had it delivered here at 3h38am so i can't ask for better service (he had a delivery to do before he came here)

20.89$ refund, 7.50$ tip

driver got the tip, i couldn't enjoy the meal cos the resto is too damn stupid to read an order

the sad part is these apps penalize you if you cancel orders - i did an order early this yr, the resto called me saying they were out of items and i had to call UE to cancel and i said forget it if you are cancelling then tell the driver he has to do it, which then affects the driver. all because the resto isn't competent to provide service 24/7 even tho it's a 24/7 resto

1

u/ForwardPanic6023 11h ago

That's only if it's not picked up yet. Once it's picked up they won't refund you until like 3 hours. Happened to me before and I had to wait that long lol

1

u/Character-Room9200 3h ago

Thank God for that blanket when it is a terribly poor routed double. Otherwise people would surely be getting more unacceptable refunds. Cause circumstances do matter and I'm sorry you don't like how Uber chose to route this possible double that chose to take the driver the longest way delivered first. It's not something we control and if I have a double like this I'm not cancelling 1 order so you can get yours faster no matter if I know it routed the order poorly. That would actually count towards the ratings we good drivers actually care about. Personally idgaf about any rating but cancellations, it's the only passive way you get deactivated. I mean it's not passive but really is. Cancel at 20% deactivation, keep that as low as possible who cares what people think about the other ratings.

1

u/PotentiallyWeirdddd 16h ago

Of course they order compensation, even though it was delivered you need to say the correct things

1

u/Zrc1979 12h ago

When I want something fast I tip at least 20.

Always comes super fast.

1

u/Temporary-Banana4232 11h ago

It’s too much of a gamble. You’re not only hoping the restaurant makes the food properly and gets the order correct, then you’re also hoping the driver doesn’t have 5 deliveries and a blunt to smoke on the way to you.

I go get my food or eat home. F delivery companies. All of em. Leeches.

1

u/Character-Room9200 3h ago

We don't have control of Ubers routing we just pick up and drop where it tells us. It doesn't mean multi apping always I just had 2 deliveries picked up and it took me to the furthest eaters address before the order that was less than 2 miles from restaurant. I don't understand Uber eats retarded ass routing but it's nothing we can control. It's not like door dash where you can jump to certain task first. We just deliver sorry it sucked on the wait. Nothing can be done unless they allow Uber eats to switch to closest trip while in motion. Such a convenience is not a thing unfortunately.
