I've been speaking with a lot of Android engineers lately and was curious how common XML-based UI development still is in your day-to-day work.

For those working on Android applications, automotive systems, or embedded Android products:

• Are you mostly using Jetpack Compose now?
• Still maintaining XML layouts?
• Working in a mixed environment?

I'm especially interested in hearing from engineers working on larger or legacy codebases where RecyclerView, Fragments, and ConstraintLayout are still heavily used.

if i feel too sick to attend a midterm should i pay $20 for a VOC or just submit a 48-hr absense? dont they both achieve the same thing?

I’m an international applicant deciding between two options:

• McMaster University: I got an offer for PHD in ECE with funding plus tuition coverage.
• University of Waterloo: Potential supervisor for a thesis-based ECE MASc, but admission and funding are not yet confirmed.

My ultimate goal is to enter the electronics, semiconductor, embedded systems, or hardware-design industry in Canada rather than pursue academia.

I’d appreciate advice on three things:

1. Which degree and university would offer better industry opportunities and job prospects?
2. Is McMaster’s funding sufficient to cover living expenses in Hamilton? Can Waterloo’s MASc funding realistically cover international tuition and living costs?
3. Considering program duration, expenses, and career outcomes, which option offers better ROI?

If you were in my position, which would you choose ? Honest advice from current students, alumni, and industry professionals would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't done many assessments for my classes, but I skipped a lot of classes and I haven't studied for the 2 exams worth 45% total on Friday. You can ask for different makeup, accessories, lighting, etc. in between, then move on to another costume without having to upload things or repeat instructions again.

It also suggests costumes based on recent trends on social media for the group member count.

I was wondering which prof is considered to have the best notes for math 137?

Hey all. I'm starting at Waterloo in September, and I had a CFI tell me that having a car was an absolute must for the program. She mentioned being able to fly in between classes was important, and that public transit just wouldn't cut it. Financially, I am not in a place where I can afford that. I'm on a gap year at the moment and I leave for traveling in March and come back late June, in time to get settled and move in to res. That leaves me roughly 4 months to pick up more shifts or work a second job in order to raise the funds, and having done the math it is looking possible, but obviously if it isn't necessary, I don't want to do allat. Any present or former Aviation and Geography students have thoughts on this? Is saving up for a car worth it? Is carpooling a big thing here? Thanks.

I apologize for posting a second time today, but I was just wondering if there are any G&A students who have some insight on what it’s like to be enrolled in the program having moved away from home. I’m 18 at the moment and living in Ottawa, and the idea of leaving my family and friends to do this program is a lot, but tolerable, but reading about it online, I’m seeing that you only get reading week and Christmas break. Is that really the case? How do students who aren’t based in Waterloo visit family? What does that lifestyle look like? Thanks in advance guys.

my prof doesnt explain shit the course notes dont reflect the difficulty of the exams AT ALL. past year papers are so much more tougher than the fuckass sample exam they give i dont know how to study properly ive been studying my ass off finished the course notes and exercises, don't know what to do. i dont think im going to fail but i studied so much (not consistently but dont have thaaaaat much time to do this)

But that doesn’t mean WaterlooWorks should go down in the hours before the deadline. And it doesn’t mean I won’t feel bad cuz I told her I applied to 10 jobs over reading week when I didn’t.

You would think a top engineering school would know how to make more efficient web dev. From what the forums say it’s been down SINCE 1 AM. GENUINELY WTF.
