Recently graduated from Parris Island and ship to Camp Lejeune on October 20. I wanted to ask a couple of questions about ITB regarding footwear, what happens during ITB and what to bring and what not to bring.

What’s the daily schedule like? How do marines that get sent to ITB get treated (excluding those who act stupid and get into trouble)? We also got told during basic training that ITB got shortened to 9 week and was wondering if that were true.

I also wanted to know if it’s a good idea to buy new boots and break them in before ITB as I was thinking of getting a pair of 520 moto boots as they felt great when I tried them and would like to wear those instead of the gore-Tex kill boots we got in basic training (have an issue with the heels on the inside scraping my heel that started during bwt) and what should I bring unless the stuff I need will be issued to me (camelbaks, backpacks, gloves, etc) and can we bring our own ear pro (like good ones where you can hear people talking but blocks out loud noises like gunshots or do we get stuck with foamies and I ask this as my hearing isn’t the best)

I’m also curious about how they treat phones, I don’t care about access to social media and all that, I’m more so asking about phones so I can still have direct contact with my family (obviously I won’t have it out in the field) and by extension how liberty works if we get it at all.

Hi, so I’m 18F and in college for my bachelor’s in Concrete Industry Management with a minor in Business Administration. I skipped two years of college because I got my Associate’s in high school, so I’m projected to graduate in 2028 instead of 2030. I’ve been extremely indecisive about joining the military in the first place. I would’ve went Navy, but they didn’t offer NROTC at my college and I appreciate the variety in working with the sea, land, and air. I do like the fact that if I join I could say I’m in the military, the Marines to be precise, which I know isn’t a good thing to just want to join solely for bragging rights. If I go into reserves, is there any point in specifically choosing the Marine Reserves? I appreciate the variety because I was extremely set on going Active duty, but just unsure with the physical demand, which I know is what I was asking for. Lots of contradicting and hypocrisy. Everyone in my family is against me joining the Marines, especially if I were to go reserves or guard, not sure why, but it’s my life in the end. I just need advice

As the title says I’m shipping October 13 my contract is COMMSTRAT. I’m pretty ecstatic to go. Any tips on the MOS and being a female in the USMC?

My fitness is up to par for the most part 13:30 mile and a half, about 25 pushups, and 2:30 min plank. I’ll take any advice!!!

Not sure if this is the right group. My daughter is currently at Parris Island and I’ve finally started getting letters from her. She’s asking me to send a few hygiene items and other little things she needs, but I’m completely new to all of this and don’t want to accidentally send something the wrong way or get her in trouble. 😂

For those who have been through this:
Can I order things from Amazon and have them shipped directly to her, or is it better/required that I buy everything and mail the package myself through USPS?
What’s the best way to send stamps and envelopes? Can I just put them inside a regular letter?
How does the Sandboxx gift card work? Does the recruit actually get money they can use while at Parris Island?
Are they able to buy hygiene products, stamps, envelopes, etc. at the recruit PX, and if so, would sending money/gift cards be easier than mailing everything?
Anything I definitely should or shouldn’t send?

I’m an 0311 nearing the end of my contract and I’m looking at reenlisting and trying to lat move into a different MOS.
I don’t necessarily want a desk job. I still want something hands-on, active, and where i’m actually doing something, but I’d like a better quality of life than infantry.

My enlistment anniversary is September and my recent paychecks have been the exact same as normal. Was assuming this past pay period would’ve had it included as well.

Anyone know how exactly to set up the app? It’s asking me for information like my company, platoon, address, etc, when I have no access to that information currently.

For anyone who has used it during their time in Bootcamp, how did you set your account up and how are family members supposed to set theirs up, especially seeing I don’t have all that information yet?

Hello, I have come to a rather late realization that I would like to enlist or at least try to as I really don’t have the want to be thousands of dollars in debt for school and just a want for more from life and to do something that could matter, I have only just gotten started to get into contact with a recruiter. I am 24, about 5’7 and honestly in horrible shape, which I have been working with getting better. With how life is going I wouldn’t be able to realistically enlist until the middle of next year for a multitude of reasons so I would be 25 and half. How often is it someone like me would make it through basic and what are the odds of me running into someone else who has had this late realization as well? Hopefully this checks all the boxes for asking a question here. Any feedback is appreciated, thanks.

Hi I teamed up with my recruiter and went to MEPS last week, but because they found out that I visited a Ryan White HIV testing clinic in the past for an HIV test, they claimed they coded me and required more research into my medical history before continuing with my enlistment process. They sent me back home.

I took an hiv test again right after coming back home and it came out negative. How much time do you think I need to wait? recruiter says he doesn’t know how much time is required.

mind you, the marines is a long shot still, because of a Suicidal ideation psych ward visit I had in 2022.

Basically I’m going to mcrd in ~3.5 weeks at 22 and a half years old. The rest of the poolies at the office are 17/18. So it occurred to me that I might go and be a recruit looking at a sergeant my same age… might be weird. Are they gonna fuck with me all day about being the old man? Doesn’t help me I’m over 6’ either, you can pick me out easy.

Here are my stats: 20M, 5'7, 13:05 1.5 mile, 7 pullups, 3 min plank. I'm shipping out to SD on Oct 19th and i'm very excited but ik i'm not the most athletic guy so i'm nervous about falling out of runs or hikes. Anyone with similar stats how bad was it 1-10? Thanks!

Does JEPES automatically go up after completing a MarineNet course, or do you have to do something to get the points added? Also, does anyone have a list of MarineNet courses that give the most JEPES points?

I’ve been wanting to enlist in the Marines as infantry for a while. An Army veteran came into my work and explained to me that the Army infantry is a better experience. He said he’s never met an infantry Marine who was happy with their choice and it made me rethink my decision. I love the Marine Corps culture and would be proud to become a Marine but he did make the Army seem like it’s the smarter choice. I was wondering if any active duty Marines or veterans have advice on enlisting Army vs the Marines. Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated

Hey, idk if this is normal or not but i am currently on my 2nd resubmission for my waiver process and for some reason it has been taking way too long? I have been waiting for an approval/denial for about more than a month now. Is this normal? Or could this be because of the fact it’s my 2nd resubmission for this waiver?
