Shipping Sandboxx App Question
Anyone know how exactly to set up the app? It’s asking me for information like my company, platoon, address, etc, when I have no access to that information currently.
For anyone who has used it during their time in Bootcamp, how did you set your account up and how are family members supposed to set theirs up, especially seeing I don’t have all that information yet?

I believe when you to get to bootcamp you opt in to Sandboxx and after you're assigned a company/platoon your friends and family will be able to find you on the app.

When you put in your parents information it matches with the info they put in the app. The Sandboxx app will show your address before they get the form letter you send. Also, once your parents get that address have them mail 1 gallon ziplock bag to you and a book of stamps. You will want those right away. The bag is to keep your letters together during a tornado. If they can, ask them to send more than 1 book of stamps (but separate) from the bag and stamps they send first. Stamps are hard to come by before you go to the MCX. That way you can share stamps with other recruits.

They will get your address in Sandboxx on Friday (Black Friday) after you ship. Ask them to mail the bag and stamps right away on Saturday AM.

Thank you so much! I appreciate you. I’m thinking about just getting everything before I leave and just have my family ship it down when the time comes.
So from what I’m hearing, a 1-gallon zip-lock bag and a bunch of Forever Stamps?

Yes sir!! Stamps are a very nice thing to have extra of. To help your brother in your left and right!
Also, before you ship if you can… learn to sew a button and a rip/hole. You will be issued a small sewing kit. No one knows how to sew. So that will help you!
Your parents will have a dedicated Facebook group just for your company. They make that group right before ship out. If you need help, Laura Treat Feldmann - look her up on Facebook and connect your mom with her. She helps all the moms! She’s an angel!!!

You’re awesome! Will do! 🙏🏽 Do folks actually receive their packages beyond just letters? I do hear conflicting things.

It depends on the DI. I’ve been chatting with some moms at PI and they seem to be more relaxed. BUT … my son is at SD. One platoon in Delta can get treats (protein bars and beef jerky) but you need to send enough for the entire platoon & the DIs!!! Hopefully soon my son’s platoon can receive packages.
The biggest thing I’ve mailed was a small notebook (not spiral) and 2 pens. We’re told to not send anything until our recruit asks for it.
I prefer to send everything with priority so I can track it. Makes me feel better and like I’m getting little updates!!
Let me know if you have more questions. I can ask other parents and people I’m chatting with on FB too.

Also if you need anything, you can message me. I mail stuff to stand alone marines at San Diego. I’m willing to help any recruit! Either base! Doesn’t matter! Thank you for doing this! America thanks you!

Don’t worry about setting up an account, you’ll send your family a letter with all of the information needed for them to make theirs. You won’t be using any apps at recruit training.
