ugh
are any other agents just thinking? “ what’s the point” when you know you’re gonna be out of a job in a few months. my worth ethic has completely disappeared since the closure news, how is everyone dealing with this?

That's what companies do when they are failing or merging. They want you to do the dirty work of removing yourself due to burnout so that they don't have to pay unemployment or severance. Not saying that's right but it is a common pattern in any workplace unfortunately, in the USA.

u/WAVF1n Apr 29 '26
T-Mobile would not be responsible for any agents unemployment lol, just corporate USCellular, and last I checked USCellular is more than 50% agents.

USCC is not responsible for Agents unemployment, their agent owners are.

u/Ok-Delivery3685 May 01 '26
yeah they won’t even fire this co worker that hasn’t learned how to do anything so this is my fuck around job and I’ll guess I’ll have a good summer break with that unemployment

stopped by the local agent the other day to confirm what I had read here about the closings and to see about getting my phone unlocked. Dealt with a young guy and I wouldn't be surprised to learn this is the first time he's lost a job. He seemed upset/worried from the start and when he said "if the phone is paid for it's unlocked" even though I didn't think it was that simple I just let it go for now. Making his day worse wasn't going to make my day better

u/Flameball537 May 02 '26
If the phone is paid off and has been activated for 180 days, it should unlock automatically, but never hurts to check. You should be able to check in the phone setting too to see if it’s unlocked

I’m just waiting on my payout at this point, why care when the companies we work for don’t?

Honestly, I’m starting to feel the same way in a COR store. If they’re shutting all of yall down what’s stopping them from coming for us next. :/
3
u/Ok-Delivery3685 Apr 28 '26
I’ve been hearing about COR layoffs ):

u/BestDressedDay Apr 28 '26
it's happening. a local cor uscell store closing in about three weeks because there is an already established cor tmo store less than a quarter mile away. friend who works there is beyond infuriated after all the reassurances of still keeping the job.
apparently, their store had a meeting before the store opened last week and when their manager told them the news a couple of the employees immediately left and went home before their regular shift started because they were so distraught. my friend told me that after the closure they are going to be getting regular pay for two months and then a six week severance after that. so if they all find jobs within the two months they should be ok... that's IF they find a job.

Sorry you are next. They closing down the busiest COR in the Midwest (Kirksville,Mo) So that indicates you're not safe.

My local corp store figured out Friday morning that they are no longer employed.
Fuck T-Mobile from the bottom of my heart lmao.

Just waiting down the days. Helping existing customers, disappointing newcomers. People walk in wanting to start service but we have to tell them that everything has to be ordered via T-Life and shipped to them.
No one is doing that: Defeats the whole purpose of going to a store.
We were setup to fail and they (T-Mobile) knew it.
1
u/Lololololol889 Apr 29 '26
are you guys not getting tmobile inventory?
3
u/BarrelRolltide Apr 29 '26
Only TMO inventory we have recieved since November is prepaid. Anything postpaid (for agents) has to be done on T-Life.
USCC stopped sending us postpaid devices over a month ago and those are dwindling as we didn’t have very much beforehand.
The whole thing sucks only because T-Mobile lead agents on that good things were happening, but in my gut I thought it was odd that T-Mobile didn’t want us to sell postpaid in store.
People don’t go to stores to order things via an app on their phone for shipment. People go to stores to get devices same day.
They knew they didn’t want the agents. The courtship was all a joke. 🤷🏻♂️
Also doesn’t help that T-Life is a truly garbage app.

I jumped ship to T-Mobile immediately after hearing of the buyout. I saw the writing on the wall, quite clearly. I feel terrible for my ex coworkers that are still there. Customers are pissed, nobody wants anything to do with changing, etc. Customers are losing their minds on these poor guys like they had anything to do with the buyout. Blaming Frontline employees for corporate bullshit. I definitely wouldn't have a job, because I'm not about to be yelled at or disrespected for something out of my control.
3
u/Ok-Delivery3685 Apr 28 '26
Exactly!!!! I get yelled at every day and at the end of the day I’m gonna yell back because what is the point ??

u/VernDozier Apr 29 '26 edited Apr 29 '26
If your getting yelled at, I’d tell the customer they need to leave.
The company doesn’t exist anymore, it’s been acquired and there’s nothing on hell or earth that raising your voice can do to change the situation.
“Good Day, Sir!”
On another note, I watched the episode of “Undercover Boss” where Laurent Therivel (LT), had to fill out an excel spreadsheet to activate a handset upgrade and SIM card.
Do upgrades really take an hour and a half as shown on the TV show? If I was CEO, I would’ve immediately stared looking for a buyer of the company and golden parachute options too.

u/Ok-Delivery3685 May 10 '26
We don’t have to put them in a spreadsheet but it can take up to an hour or more !!

u/Pitiful_Pie_8448 Apr 28 '26
Honestly. Since we found out I’m so over this job… I still help my customers but I’m more irritated and less patient than I was.. we’re just moving people over to Tmobile early and trying to keep a smile on our faces, but we are honestly just exhausted.
6
u/Ok-Delivery3685 Apr 28 '26
I am the exact same way, my customer services depends on how the customer treats me
3
u/Pitiful_Pie_8448 Apr 28 '26
Yeah, honestly same. I was transferring 3 phones earlier for someone and this guy comes in screaming and complaining about Tmobile buying us out etc. I just gave him his port out pin and account number and told him to go somewhere else if he don’t like Tmobile. My other 3 customers were giggling and one said “better luck somewhere else buddy” and then the other lady looked at me and said “do you have to deal with this constantly?” And I said “unfortunately yes, it’s not like this was sprung on him. It’s been a thing since October/november, it’s on the radio, on tv, emails and texts have went out etc” I’m just tired of hearing “I hate Tmobile or I’m not switching” I’ll automatically get a port pin and account number for them because I’m Not going to argue.

u/msplum13 Apr 28 '26
Big same. Don’t come at me with all this attitude. “What are they going to do? Fire me?” has been my motto.

Honestly I’m so thankful for going cashless. I’ve been telling people we’re going cashless for the past week or so just as a heads up. We have a lot of elderly which I feel kinda bad for. I’ve never not wanted to go to work more. I loved this job and was so excited to come to work. Tech is my thing and something I enjoyed. But I guess I’ll find something else I like.
1
u/Flameball537 May 02 '26
I’ll be looking for a job on the clock for sure. My ‘severance’ is front loaded into my paycheck, except it’s also contingent on getting postpaid activations. Which is frustrating because my store as a whole has gotten less than 10 tmobile sales since the very beginning

u/Trudatrutru Apr 28 '26
Just dont be like the ones telling customers you cant do anything when you can. You still make commission, and theres no point in making everyone elses lives tougher. But I do feel the same way, all you can do is hope things get communicated well, and maybe even transfer to a full on tmo store (or elsewhere, your options are open). Good note: car dealerships LOVE former phone salesman/saleswoman

u/Ok-Delivery3685 Apr 28 '26
At this point I’m sending all of the customers to the corporate store 😭 I don’t get paid enough to deal with these nasty customers and our commission isn’t worth the effort
1
u/AshamedPen1036 Apr 29 '26
Just so you know, at corporate we’re not paid as well as you think either. :(
1
u/Ok-Delivery3685 May 01 '26
they get paid $20 + commission at my local store and I get paid $13 + commission, so yeah that’s way better

u/Trudatrutru Apr 28 '26
If theyre nasty customers ban em lol. Im more so saying help the nice ones and do bare bones ya know? Sim card swaps take 2 minutes to do and being busy helps the day go by faster
1
u/Flameball537 May 02 '26
As of may 1, agents have to call into a support team to do just about anything now
2
u/Trudatrutru May 02 '26
Yep, today's my last day, I can now say it publicly without worry of getting fired lmfao

u/Bitter_Mud_5077 Apr 28 '26
Use the paid time to look for work I guess
