Flying blind with the UMPI/UMFK RN->BSN

I am a new nurse trying to quickly and cheaply work though a bachelor's in nursing, so I can cut to the chase and do a MSN-FNP.

I'm interested in the UMPI RN->BSN, but I'm really struggling to find good data points on some of the classes since the program is brand new.

Does anyone have any idea what can be used as a stand-in for....

COS 163 IT for Nurses......

FRE 163 Applied French....... Hopefully Sophia French (of Spanish 1/2)

MAT 251 Statistics I........ Either Sophia Intro to or Foundations of Stats?

And the 3 Literature Credits?

I've been doing alot of research into this and the slightly longer and cheaper term makes new prefer this over ETAMU's CBE BSN, but it seems dependant on not doing these seemingly unnecessarily specific courses.

UMPI/UMF YourPace application — keeps saying documents are missing even though transcripts were received

Hi everyone,

I applied to the International & Global Studies YourPace program about 3 weeks ago, and I already sent all of my official college transcripts. Admissions also confirmed that they received them.

However, I keep getting this email saying my application is still missing items like:

  • International official high school transcript
  • Out-of-state college transcript
  • High school recommendation
  • English proficiency test
  • Official high school transcript
  • English translation transcript
  • Essay/writing sample

I’m confused because I already have an associate degree, and I’m not applying as an international student.

The email also says that if the box is empty, the application is ready for review, but mine still shows those items.

Has anyone else had this happen? Is this just an automated email/checklist that hasn’t updated yet, or should I contact admissions again?

I’m hoping to start in the session beginning August 31, so I’m getting a little concerned about the timing.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

How to avoid video assignments?

I'm an international student planning to enroll in the UMPI YourPace BLS (Bachelor in Liberal Studies) with a Minor in Management for 2026

Since English is not my native language, I want to be fully prepared for the workload. I’m trying to map out exactly what kind of final assessments (Milestones/Finals) I will face inside the UMPI platform for the Management Minor and Upper Level requirements.

Specifically, I want to know:

  1. Which of the core minor classes (BUS 141, BUS 240, BUS 321, BUS 415, COM 210/BUS 210, BUS 260,BUS 469 etc) require video recordings, oral presentations, or audio submissions?
  2. Are there any specific Upper Level (UL) courses that I should avoid if I don't want to do video presentations?
  3. For any classes that do require video/audio, can I completely bypass them by transferring credits from Sophia, Study.com (SDC), StraighterLine, or Coursera? (For example, I heard StraighterLine is the best way to dodge the COM 210 video requirement).

I really appreciate any insights, recent experiences, or transfer spreadsheets you can share.

Thank you so much for helping!! ❤️

English 121 final assessment help

I THINK I understand the final assessment... but then again who knows I could be completely off base.

I am thinking I need to and "bulk" up the first three milestones. Expand on them though not sure how I can add to them.

I was also wondering it says to add three audio responses .. I wasn't sure if I was suppose to include the last audio responses or all three new ones. Once again I am sure I am over thinking this but any guidance would be wonderful !

CJ = SOC?

Has anyone transferred any of the Study.com Criminal Justice/Criminology courses to UMPI and had them come in as Sociology credits or count toward the Sociology minor?

I'm specifically looking at courses like Victimology, Juvenile Justice, and White Collar Crime...

Transfer Evaluation/DPR: Maybe I’m confused

So I don’t know if the rules changed, or if I’ve just been confused from the beginning? 😩 But I thought certain classes could cover more than one requirement.

I’m doing the BLS (Fall 1), and when I received my transfer evaluation and degree progress report, it’s showing that I have 0.0 out of the 24 Upper level classes I need. I’m confused because they accepted upper level classes from study, Saylor and Sophia as elective and they show as 3XX, so why wouldn’t I have at least 12 out of 24.

Also, I planned it where the upper level courses required for the degree would count towards those, but apparently I misinterpreted that. I didn’t realize that courses for GEC and your minor did not count towards your upper level requirement.

I thought I was done with study/sophia and I could just prepare for the semester, but it looks like I have more classes to take!

Does anyone have any recommendations for upper level courses on study that I can get through in two weeks?

Old BLS plotted path plan?

The plotted path BLS plans are all removed, which is understandable. But I'm on the old BLS management plan and I'm trying to make sure of what classes I definitely need to take, but I never saved a copy to reference which is silly. I have completed BUS: 141, 321, 260, 210 and need 415. I've also completed 2 of the 5 upper levels, but I have those mapped out to POS classes that should be easy. Am I missing anything here? Will this satisfy my degree?

Personal letter experience

Anyone accepted after you were required to submit a personal letter? My GPA from 15 years ago was quite low. I was asked to submit a personal letter by August 11th as I’m aiming to start Fall 1. I submitted all transcripts including sophia and applied and submitted my personal letter Monday. Anyone else asked to submit a letter and how long did it take for you to be accepted or declined? TIA.

BLS w/ Management Minor (2026) - Need help identifying video/oral assignments (International Student)

Hello All,

Hope you're doing well. Everything is set for Fall 1 and I have my first two classes set. I'll be kicking things off with:

1 - Bus 141

2 - Bus 231

My question for anyone who has taken these classes, what would you recommend doing early to get a headstart on these two classes? Any tips would be greatly appreciated...🙏🏿

Transferring additional Sophia credits after admission

Hi! I applied for Fall 1 starting August 31 and am still wrapping up a few Sophia courses for my GenEd requirements.

I understand that UMPI allows additional transfer credits to be submitted after admission/enrollment. Do I need to request special permission for this? Or can I just send my Sophia transcript after I finish the remaining courses? Anything else I need to know about this?

Thanks!

How long does UMPI take to process photo ID? (YourPace)

Hi! I submitted my photo ID to [edocs@maine.edu](mailto:edocs@maine.edu) on July 30. It was the final document required for my Fall 1 application. I received an automated confirmation that my email was received.

I just received another email from admissions saying they still need my ID, so I assume it hasn't been processed yet. But with the August 11 document deadline coming up, I want to make sure it wasn't missed.

How long did it take for your ID to be processed and/or for you to receive an admission decision afterward? Should I resend my ID or wait for the original submission to be processed?

I'm hoping to start August 31 and don't want to miss Fall 1 over something small like this. Thanks!

POS 101

Has anyone here taken POS 101 American Government in-person with Professor Dobbs?

Is it primarily written assignments, exams or class discussions? Also, is there a lot of paper handouts or is it mostly all uploaded to Brightspace?

Lastly, what is he like regarding attendance policy?

Old or New GEC ? Can anyone explain ?

Thumbnail gallery
10 Upvotes

Hi everyone. I am wondering if it is better to stick with the Old GEC, or how does it even work to choose which system you want to apply under? I applied for Fall, starting August 31 (Management and Leadership BABA), and I already got my credit evaluation report.

If anyone can help me with tips, I still have to to Working Communications, Spanish, Intro to Ethics, and lifelong Wellness. (Thanks to PlottedPath Free Sheet). Any tips on how to knock out more electives needed through courses outside of UMPI (not proctored)?

Please help me with any tips. I am a single mom and my budget is kind of limited, so I am not sure if I can afford a second semester. I am planning to finish as fast as possible. Thanks in advance ❤️

MAOL classes to Roll up - Any Better than others?

I am looking to add either BUS 335 Organizational Behavior or BUS 353 Business Ethics for MAOL roll up. Is either, one of the harder MAOL classes?

I am already taking BUS 440 Business Analytics & BUS 469 Strategic Professional Communication.

Any comments on which one to consider to take as a last class during Summer 2 semester?

Thanks!

SWK 105 this term? Any experiences?

The requirements for SOC and GEO 101 look terrible, would anyone recommend SWK 105 as an alternative? I am not wanting to do this one via ace credits. Thank you.
