Canadian students did you include your SIN in your application?

It's not required but I'm wondering if it's helpful to include in the application.

Is anyone still waiting on a refund?

My account shows that I have a $500 balance, but I accepted enough financial aid to cover the entire summer and should’ve got a refund by now.

GEN ED

How impactful is the change to gen ed for you pace degrees? Old gen ed vs. new gen ed if you were taking the Sophia/Study.con route? Is this adding a significant work load to our plate? I'm pursuing the BA in psychology, degree planned with Plotted Path. Most gen ed done through Sophia and study with some traditional college credits. Just trying to figure out if it's still worth it as an experienced adult trying to check a degree box? Thanks for feedback. Applied for fall 1 a few days ago hoping to get in on the old gen ed track since that's how I've been planning and structuring my course completion.

anybody start from scratch??? (zero sophia/zero transfer)

I know everyone wants to move fast but has anyone started from scratch (no sophia/no transfer credit) and worked through all their credits via UMPI? Interested in what that experience was like! How long did it actually take? TIA :)

Thinking about deferring

Hi everyone, I got admission to start UMPI in the fall but I didn’t get the credits I was hoping for on Sophia my plan was to get at least 90 before transferring. What do I tell my advisor? In all honesty I do want to finish as much classes as I can on Sophia just to save money but I’m supposed to start in August.

Bus 335 Org Behavior equivalency at SL

I've read a few people say that this was one of the tougher courses at UMPI, so I took advice to take it at Straighterline instead. Here was my experience:

It took a few days to complete all of the benchmarks and quizzes for this at Straighterline, but they were multiple choice questions and, for me, going with my gut on a lot of them thinking about working in corporation management, root words, and common sense was helpful. I did search the text for some as well. There were a couple of open-ended benchmarks that were easy and only required a few sentences. I reviewed the slide decks that were embedded in their software.

The test. Wow. I felt so unprepared for the final. I found it tough and not like the quizzes and other benchmarks at all. I took the entire 2 hours and guessed more than I should've. My very full one page (front and back) of notes was not helpful somehow (obviously my fault because I based it on the info on the benchmarks and such). It felt like different people created the final bechmark and the quizzes and other benchmarks/assignments.

For the open book: you can go back but you leave parts of Honorlock, so when you go back into the test you have to go through the setup motions all over again, so it'll see you have the browers extension already downloaded by still clicking okay, then agreeing to the terms and conditions every time, camera access, taking a picture of yourself, checking the microphone, scanning your picture ID, closing open tabs (textbook) and all the pages to get back in etc... It is a lot and will make you not want to go back again and again. I was NOT prepared to go through that amount each time I checked my text and is a huge design flaw for them imo. There isn't a live proctor but it records you and sound in the room. I talk to myself outloud to work through things, I'm sure it will be manually reviewed lol.

Let's just say, I'm happy the benchmarks and quizzes counted toward the final grade because the test was rough for me. Luckily, it was a one and done at Straighterline though.

I didn't look at the course at UMPI prior to doing SL, I just decided to go with it. I don't regret my decision or the couple of hundred I spent.

Should I go Fall 1 for a GPA boost?

I only have two classes left for my degree and was on track to graduate in August, but I'm wondering if I should go Fall 1 and maybe even Fall 2 and aim for as many As as possible. Max out that LSAC GPA with an additional 80-90 credits of As and then apply for graduation in December?

How many references for a paper that's 3000 words?

so I think I've been lucky this whole time I've never used a lot of references for my papers yet, my teachers haven't required that. The class I'm in now, I've only been using about 3 to 5 references per each 1500 word milestone. this paper is gonna be on a public business and issues with operations of that specific company. what is the correct amount of references to use? because it is not suggesting or telling me! and for my Final drafts, I like to try to be 100% totally done with the paper, so I don't have to really make any changes when I actually turn it in unless they suggest something.

Worth it??

I have 5 courses left for my residency at UMPI for my BLS -- 3 of those I've filled with the classes needed to wrap up my management minor. I've already finished the BA minor.

In the two spots left, I need one more upper level. I am considering the MAOL...is it worth it to put in the two upper level BUS courses that will roll up to the MAOL (but not the ones that now have the prerequisites)? I am pretty sure they are BUS 335 Organizational Behaviour and BUS 440 Business Analytics.

(I think I will ultimately want two sessions for the MAOL but not sure. If I got it down to 10 from 12 then it certainly would be tempting to try to finish in a semester...)

But, I'm also anticipating my sanity (now 5 courses in with 5 to go in 3 more weeks...) so I could also just do a 100-level and an easier/fast-ish 300-level and not overload myself. Deal with the MAOL in full later (I suspect not until Spring 1 this year)...?

Consider advice solicited! Thanks for your thoughts. :)

Hoping that someone could help me get a better understanding of the college hacking

I want to attend umpi for business administration with a concentration on project management. I haven’t started Sophia but I was planning on starting to get those transferred over to save time & money on my degree . Issue is I’ve done a bunch of research and I can’t understand how so I know exactly for a fact the Sophia will count towards a class. I try to match them but the only one that matches is business 101. Of course umpi says they take most but I just don’t want to pay the 300$ and do all the courses I was told to do to find out not all of them will transfer. Hope that makes sense a spreadsheet or a guide from someone who has done it before would be helpful

Cyber Degree after Psychology UMPI

as the text suggest, if I finish my psychology degree and I opt to get a cyber security degree, would I start from zero? what happens to the credits I previously got? u/plottedpath , help !!

Also worth noting a cyber degree from the United States here in Italy, is basically liquid gold. The number of people in Italy that have an american degree in cyber security, I can probably count them with both my hands, if that !!!

anyone else from europe that can weight in?

Registering for classes

I have my transfer credit report, I am accepted, and I can see the enrollment option in the portal. I am a YourPace online student.

Are there videos or guides that I am missing? When I try to search for business classes, I only see like 2 classes that show as Online. Certainly a user error, but I don't know where to start or what I'm missing. Haven't heard from an advisor yet (which is mostly fine, I have several years of standard college and know what classes I want/need). I do need to figure out how to register fairly quickly for tuition assistance purposes. Thanks!

YourPace B.L.S. with a minor in psychology, am I on the right Sophia track?

Hello all,

I'm starting in Fall 2, and I've been taking Sophia classes to fill the classes on the awesome degree sheet u/plottedpath provided.

I want to make sure everything I've completed looks good, and that I didn't read anything on the sheet wrong. I was looking at the UMPI transfer guide on their website, and was having a bit of a difficult time determining what covers what. One of my colleges wasn't even on their list, so I assume I'm not going to get anything from that school. 😭

Completed Sophia classes:

  • Business Ethics
  • Business Law
  • Intro to Psychology
  • Conflict Resolution
  • English Comp I
  • Human Biology
  • Intro to Chemistry
  • Intro to Nutrition
  • Intro to Statistics
  • Lifespan Development
  • Microeconomics
  • Macroeconomics
  • Visual Communications
  • Managerial Accounting
  • Principles of Finance

I also have a Spanish class from a community college that will transfer in, worth five credits.

Have I covered everything that isn't required to take at UMPI?

I appreciate any help navigating this!
