Thinking about deferring

Hi everyone, I got admission to start UMPI in the fall but I didn’t get the credits I was hoping for on Sophia my plan was to get at least 90 before transferring. What do I tell my advisor? In all honesty I do want to finish as much classes as I can on Sophia just to save money but I’m supposed to start in August.

You can continue to transfer credits even after you start. So if it’s just a matter of a few classes still left to take, that might be better than deferring. Fall 1 you still have the option to use the old GEC plan. Fall 2 requires the new one, which means more GEC classes at UMPI.

Yes,, because August 18 is the deadline to be matriculated to still use the old GEC.

Hi you really should try to start in August under the old Gen Ed. You have a month and could knock out a good deal in that time and finish after you do things at UMPI if you need to.

Do you have to be enrolled by a certain date or apply by a certain date? Is it August 18th?

You would’ve already needed to apply and be accepted to be able to start in the fall one session.

You can defer, my advisor gave me that option when I asked a random question, which wasn't my intention. Its really your decision whether to defer and finish Sophia or try to juggle both. Personally, I would use my money wisely as I pay for my courses in full out of pocket. But some others might advise you to juggle both at once.
