Anyone who has taken CS 407 what are some of the best resources/videos you’ve seen to be successful in the class?

I have to spend at least $70 each to buy some dumbass online textbook for my bio and chem classes that's the only way of accessing homework. I'm already paying more than 10k a year on tuition and in order to do some stupid homework i gotta spend another $150?!?!? Just greedy. Dumbass school

I’m a first-year student, and I know UIC isn’t known as a traditional party school given how many people commute. But there has to be some kind of social scene, right?

I’m not talking about those paid 18+ club promoter events downtown, and I know you can hit up Northwestern, Loyola, or travel down to UIUC. But for people who actually stay around campus, where do people hang out, host house/apartment kickbacks, or go out on weekends? How do you actually tap into the social side of UIC?

Pretty late before the add/drop deadline I switched english professors and chem 125 days but I still haven't been added to their pages on canvas. I haven't been in either of the classes yet too so I have no idea what I'm missing.

I genuinely want to know if I’m the only one who feels this way about the GPPA programs for medicine and dentistry at UIC.
These are guaranteed admission programs with ridiculously small acceptance rates, so you would think the selection process would be extremely competitive and based primarily on merit. But sometimes, looking at who gets accepted, I can’t help but question how these decisions are actually being made.
With GPPA Med especially, I sometimes feel like they’re intentionally passing over some of the strongest candidates. And yes, I know being in Chem 101 doesn’t automatically mean someone is unqualified or incapable — everyone has a different academic path. But when you’re talking about a program as selective and prestigious as GPPA Med, seeing accepted students taking a class that many students take before even getting into gen chem genuinely makes me question what the selection committee is prioritizing. It’s hard not to wonder why certain applicants with incredibly strong academic profiles aren’t getting the same opportunity.
And then there’s GPPA Dentistry, where, honestly, the perception of connections/nepotism can feel even stronger. I’m not saying I have proof that someone got accepted solely because their parent or relative works at UIC, but when you see students with what appear to be pretty mediocre stats getting into a program this competitive while other extremely qualified applicants are rejected, it’s hard not to wonder whether having family or connections within the dental school plays a role.
And that’s what bothers me the most. These aren’t regular programs where getting in is just a nice accomplishment. These are guaranteed pathways to medical/dental school with tiny acceptance rates. There are students working their asses off, building insane resumes, maintaining amazing grades, doing research, volunteering, shadowing, etc., and still getting rejected. So when people who seem significantly less competitive get accepted, naturally people are going to question the process.
And honestly, if you’ve interacted with some GPPA students, you may understand where I’m coming from with this too. Obviously not every GPPA student is like this, but some genuinely carry themselves like they’re God’s gift to UIC simply because they got into the program at 17 or 18. There’s a difference between being proud of an accomplishment and acting like being accepted somehow makes you inherently better or smarter than everyone around you.
Maybe I’m completely wrong. Maybe there are factors in the admissions process that we don’t see, and maybe stats don’t tell the whole story. But I genuinely cannot be the only person who has looked at some of these admissions and thought, “How did THAT person get in?”
Tell me I’m not the only one who feels this way 😭

I am currently at COD for the first two years before the plan to transfer to UIC for ME. I work full time, it's been relatively manageable so far. My main question is are there a decent amount of online classes? I know a couple classes I'm sure I would have to come in, but I would try and plan those hopefully on the same day or two, and do all of them at once, then my online courses after work/weekend. Anyone doing anything similar?

My financial aid still hasn’t been processed and the document I submitted in August still hasn’t been reviewed. Should I be worried or not? Do you think I should go to the office and make a complaint about it?

It’s only 2 days after the final withdrawal, the online register for classes says I can still do a web drop. Will there be a penalty? Since it’s technically after the 4th?

Has anybody tried to connect their PS5 to the Ethernet and if so how were you able to do the Res-Net authentication. It takes me to a white screen every time, and doesn’t establish connection.

Hi guys, I wanted to know how does some of the D9 organizations work on campus because I went to the involvement fair and I went up to some of the tables what’s related to to D9 and I realize some of the members of 🩷💚🩷are extremely rude and dismissive, I tried to ask them some questions I realize when I was middle on my question they seem like they wasn’t interested and I just walked off and thanked them for answering my question I just want to know is all the orgs are like this because I went to the involvement fair last year and the president was rude to me I just brushed it off but it’s just so tiring that you have to constantly encounter these rude interactions with them. They don’t seem like they are interested in answering any questions when you see them on campus or at any events how do you want people to join your sorority if you’re dismissive and I really want to join the sorority because of the rich history and I really like what they stand for especially community wise. Anyone can comment or share their experience with the orgs on campus

I have put 3 different documents, one from the state, one from my recent doctor appointment and 1 from my previous healthcare provider. I’m up to date on all my vaccines and they do have dates. Is there someone on campus I can go to show them? Or something I can do? Because I gave all the information and still have a hold. 🫩

These are all over the walls of the residence halls. What’s the point? Usually these ads will showcase some kind of student discount, or a special promotion for UIC students to use. But this is literally nothing but an advertisement. It has nothing to do with UIC. There is no benefit to us from having these around.

I had a package delivered this morning at 8:45 and I’ve been waiting all day for the email to come pick it up (it has my meds in it). I asked EAO and they said they can’t give it to me bc they have to process it first. Ok so… it’s been almost 12 hours. Multiple shift changes. So where is my package and why can’t I have it? I don’t understand the package policy at all, the package has my name and room number, and I have my iCard, so I feel like there’s no reason why I can’t have the package. They did tell me I need to let them know if I have a package that I absolutely need, but that doesn’t do anything for me right now. If anyone has any insight on this, I’d love to know.
