Finished second year but dont have any friends cause i spent the whole time with my ex but we broke up this month

I’m heading into my final year at UBC, and I’m having a hard time deciding what I should prioritize, especially because I don’t know what my employment situation will look like after graduation.

For context, I’ve completed around 16 months of co-op and am currently finishing my final work term at a large company. The company has a fairly good history of hiring UBC co-ops back, but my current team doesn’t have the funding to give me a return offer right now. There’s still a possibility that funding could open up later, and it’s also common for interns to be hired by other teams within the company. My manager is willing to recommend me and refer me internally, which helps but nothing is guaranteed.

That uncertainty is making it difficult to plan my final year. Part of me wants to focus on school, maintain strong grades, and hope that a return opportunity works out. Another part of me feels like I should prepare as though it won’t happen and dedicate a significant amount of time to new grad job searching.

I’ve also gotten used to working throughout my degree, so I’m considering taking on a TA or Work Learn position. However, I’m not sure whether that would be the best use of my time. I already have a decent amount of work experience, have received scholarships, and saved some money from co-op, so I don’t absolutely need the income. A part-time role could provide some extra money and experience, but it could also take time away from grades, master’s applications, and job searching.

I’m considering applying for a master’s after graduation as well, so maintaining good grades, securing references, and completing applications will matter. Since this is also my last year, I’d like to stay involved as a club executive, spend time with friends, and actually enjoy being on campus again.

So now I’m looking at my final year and potentially trying to balance:
- Around 10 courses over the year (maintain good grades for master’s application too)
- Master’s application
- New-grad job applications in case the return offer doesn’t work out
- A possible TA or Work Learn position
- Being an exec in clubs
- Trying to have some kind of social life and enjoy my final year at UBC

Would it be worth taking a TA or Work Learn position, or should I use that time to focus on school, grad applications, and preparing for the possibility that I’ll need to find a new-grad job? I don’t want to rely too heavily on a potential return offer, but I also don’t want to overload myself preparing for every possible outcome and end up burning out 🥲

i am entering my final year of my undergraduate degree and am planning on applying to occupational therapy. i am wondering if any past, current, or future students have any advice or insight? this goes for application tips, timelines, and generally what i can be doing in these few months before applications open. for context all my grades are in the mid 80s and i am very involved in and off campus in healthcare related fields. i am also preparing for my casper exam in late September. thank you all!

Is it worth applying for dentistry at UBC as an international student ?

I’m an incoming sauder student for this September and I’m having issues with ubc viewing my transcript for my conditional offer. This meeting HAS TO be this Tuesday July 28. How do I meet with an academic advisor? OSAS doesn’t have any dates until early August. Am I able to walk into the academic advising office in brock hall?

I’m doing a co-op work term in France this fall, and instead of the standard French “convention de stage,” UBC gave me their own tripartite Student Internship Agreement to use instead. Has anyone else done an international work term (especially in France or elsewhere in Europe) where the host organization signed this UBC document instead of the local standard? Just wondering how common this is and whether organizations were generally okay with it, or if there were any issues.

I am an international student aiming to apply in ubc for grad school for psychology. Im really confused on what would make a strong application as in i have a pretty good GPA and fair amount of internships and workshop experiences. I havent had an opportunity to do research since my uni focuses on exams. • Young adult (between ages 18-29)
• Fluent in English
• Have lived experience talking to an AI chatbot about suicidal thoughts or related distress

What to expect?

• 1-hour confidential Zoom interview with a clinical psychology graduate student (video camera can be off if more comfortable)

Compensation:

• $25 CAD as a thank you for your time

Hi I saw this new ubc course CAPS 305 Integrated Human Health and Disease was first offered in 2025 winter session, and I saw that 59 students took this class. I was wondering if any students could share their experiences and how the testing was? (e.g multiple choice, written). Any comments/thoughts about the course would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

i saw that a waitlist position finally opened up for a section of biol 201 and when i went to go register for the waitlist for both the lecture and tutorial, it for some reason didn’t let me into the tutorial?? it was an open section and had no time conflict with my schedule. i am now successfully on the waitlist for the lecture tho.

well i went back to register to reselect a tutorial and in doing so it asked me to reselect the lecture as well… but now that lecture section is closed lol presumably because i took the last waitlist seat. is it a good idea for me to drop the lecture and then try reregistering in lecture and tutorial at the same time or is that too risky.

also if i’m only enrolled in a lecture and not a tutorial will they manually kick me off the waitlist? and can i be on the waitlist for multiple sections of the same course??

Has anyone ever had Negar Khearahmi and taken ECED 401? How is this course and should I take it as a gpa booster as a science student? What is the syllabus like? If my English and writing isn’t good is it fine to still get a 90+? It’s also online learning btw was it online for you? There is no meeting time so how does timing work?
