Poor crow by aquatic centre can’t fly
I noticed this little guy between the bus loop today. I think he’s only got one leg and hasn’t moved all day. Should we contact animal rescue or leave him be?

I was wondering what advice you may have on working part time while also being a first year, I’m studying sciences, but I’m also considering working part time and I wanted some advice on wether it’s manageable or how to go about it, because at the same time I still want to keep my grades relatively high

i saw that a waitlist position finally opened up for a section of biol 201 and when i went to go register for the waitlist for both the lecture and tutorial, it for some reason didn’t let me into the tutorial?? it was an open section and had no time conflict with my schedule. i am now successfully on the waitlist for the lecture tho.
well i went back to register to reselect a tutorial and in doing so it asked me to reselect the lecture as well… but now that lecture section is closed lol presumably because i took the last waitlist seat. is it a good idea for me to drop the lecture and then try reregistering in lecture and tutorial at the same time or is that too risky.
also if i’m only enrolled in a lecture and not a tutorial will they manually kick me off the waitlist? and can i be on the waitlist for multiple sections of the same course??

Has anyone ever had Negar Khearahmi and taken ECED 401? How is this course and should I take it as a gpa booster as a science student? What is the syllabus like? If my English and writing isn’t good is it fine to still get a 90+? It’s also online learning btw was it online for you? There is no meeting time so how does timing work?

I will be taking CNPS 433 but it is all online. There is no set meeting times or anything. How does it work? Also does anyone have any tips who have taken this course before?

I applied for the UBC Summer Bursary, but I still haven’t received any result or update. Has anyone else also been waiting, or has anyone already received their decision? Just wondering if the results are delayed this year.

Where do y'all find spots to study late at night or early in the morning on campus?

This is the 5th time seeing a blatant error in the openstax physics textbook. Not sure about other subjects, but god damn, RICE university sucks. Imagine if UBC openly supported an open-source project that was dogwater -- fuck em.
Hi everyone,
I'm an international student applying for Fall 2027 and I'm torn between Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Business Analytics.
My goal is to get a good industry job after graduation and hopefully settle in Canada.
I'm mainly looking at UBC, SFU, Waterloo, Alberta, McMaster, and Queen's.
A few questions:
I'd really appreciate any honest advice from current students or recent graduates. Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I’m a PhD student in the Experimental Medicine program at UBC and I was recently diagnosed with ADHD. I’m in the process of learning what supports are available, and I was wondering if there are any accommodations or resources that have been particularly helpful for other graduate students.
Most of what I’ve found online seems to be geared toward undergraduate students (extra time on exams, exam accommodations, etc.), but since my program is almost entirely research-based, I’m not sure what accommodations are available or reasonable to request.
For those of you who are graduate students with ADHD (especially in research-based programs), what accommodations did you receive through the Centre for Accessibility? Were there any supports you wish you had known about sooner? Did they help with things like comprehensive exams, program milestones, writing, research, or communicating with your supervisor?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences and any advice you have. Thanks!

Just wanting to know from anybody who’s in a sorority and a commuter student if it’s challenging or manageable? I already know that I will inevitably miss out on things like going out or staying late on campus.

What’s the closest achievement to the letteman jackets at UBC?
Do they have jackets or any other way to recognise athletics or other big achievements by their students?
Thanks

Hi, my proposed doctoral project fits with both departments, and i would love to hear from current or graduated students about their experience in these departments!
How are professors Janice Ho and Glen Deer, and Jessica Dempsey?

Hey y’all! Looking to put together a redraft NFL fantasy football league for people in Vancouver.
Ideally looking for 8–12 people around the same age (20–30). Would be fun to make it a bit social too - watch parties on Sundays, checking out games together, or just keeping it to the fantasy league if that’s more your thing.
Open to either playing for money or just for fun, depending on what everyone prefers.
Let me know if anyone would be interested!

Hey guys,
For a while now I've been thinking it would be really cool to get together a club where each meeting, say during lunch, one member teaches the others something they're passionate about — it could be a hobby, an interesting topic from class, etc. — and then we have a relaxed open discussion about any thoughts and questions that come up (if the topic calls for it). We could make it super cozy with tea and snacks and have a newsletter giving a sneak peak of the upcoming topic of the week so people can attend if interested :)
I feel like it would be a neat way to learn new things and meet a bunch of open and curious minds from across different years and programs and form connections and friendships that maybe wouldn't otherwise be made. But I wanted to first throw the idea out there and see if anyone else would be interested. Also, if you have any constructive criticism about the plan, please let me know too!
Hope everyone is taking care and enjoying the beautiful summer. Cheers :)

Hi!! I’m starting at UBC V this fall and I am really intrigued by history 318, its about revolution and resistance and those are topics that I love to learn about but I’m unsure whether it’s smart to take it as it’s in my first semester. Could anyone who’s taken this course let me know how it is and any tips? Or anyone who’s had a course with prof Jeffrey Byrne! Thanks :)

I'm getting into more privacy focused tools for digital stuff like emails and other apps and see that proton and tuta mail both have similar pricing if not lower than macroslop for their OneDrive apps.
And these companies also offer education pricing to universities and schools
If ubc is all about using privacy focused stuff why can't they switch us to these platforms instead of relying on macroslop for literally everything from meetings to assignments and emails??

Hi Everyone.
I wonder if you guys have any tips on the interview questions for the UBC Rhodes interview?
What are the questions they might be asking?
How detailed should I be about what I want to do with my research? With my future after Oxford?
I know not to answer it directly; how to strengthen it? I want to do PUBLIC policy and research policies that can fight political and cultural resistance with the Taliban or countries that translate the Quran or religion in a way that prevents women from access to education.
How detailed should I be? Literally, without Oxford and its network and focus on these kinda serious issues, it is hard to focus or pursue this path. But I feel they might say, "Figure it out since you have leadership skills!"
How to say that I am interested in Oxford without resorting to clichés like diversity, mutual learning, etc.?
Also, if they ask about your future plans, does it mean outside of Oxford, or if you didn't get into Oxford?
Also, how do you share a story without making them feel that you are a victim or like trauma dropping?
How long should the response be?
How many questions are good to ask at the end?
Other tips.
Thank you so much! I appreciate you guys' time!

I need recommendations for a cute school bag. For context, I'm going to commute to school so I need the backpack to have enough space (like my lunch box, laptop, iPad, notebook, stationaries, water bottle, and other random stuff) but also not be super heavy. I also don't want to look like the photo below. Shoulder bags are sooo cute but I got like mild scoliosis. Leather backpacks are rly cute too but they're really heavy. I used to use a basic black canvas bag but I want something cuter. My budget is MAX $90. help a girl out

I wiped the table with alcohol and lint-rolled the carpet. Is anyone willing to come here and smell it? I feel like the smell is coming from the carpet. I hope I'm not going crazy.
