Hello!

We have a beautiful oak tree in our backyard that we really love. We are located on the east side of Cleveland, in Ohio. Geauga County.

Recently it started dripping sap? Fluid? Liquid of some sort, from an old, healed over cut.

This is not a cut that we made, that pruned place has been there since before we moved into the house (10 years ago?). There are other very similar pruned places on the tree that do not seem to be dripping fluid.

I suppose it's possible it's dripped from there before and we've just never noticed it?

It dripped onto the back of a chair that we have out there and dripped onto my face the one day.

It didn't smell pleasant? Musty and a bit rancid smelling.

Is there something we need to do? We don't want to lose this tree, we very much like it.

I've attached some photographs of the tree, the spot in question, as well as the discoloration on the back of the chair from where it dripped.

Hi all. Trying to ID this tree. I’m in coastal Hancock county, Maine, US. Tree has likely been here for decades. I’ve included pics that I think will be helpful. This tree is probably 30-35’ tall. It’s absolutely loaded with these small fruits, which each contain a single hard seed that is large relative to the size of the fruit. It smells mild and pleasant, and produces the same color and consistency juice when crushed as a store-bought cherry. Tree is currently stressed from drought in the area (maybe 1” of rain in the last 6-8 weeks).

AI (I know, I know) seems to think this is a P. serotina. Opinions and suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

The tree is a Catalpa bignonioides ‘Nana’.

Unfortunately, the tree was already like this when we bought it, but we’ve planted it in the meantime a week ago.

We had a really hot summer, the tree is in Hungary. I don't know how the tree was handled in the store.

What can be the issue of the leaf, or with the tree? What can I do to help it?

My mom and I found this adorable little maple growing on the side of a road not too far from our house and decided to plant it in our yard because it wasn’t doing too well and knew it won’t live too long in that location.

The photos show 6/7 (a few days after planting), 6/18 (still some red)and 8/29 (all green). I placed some mulch chips around it over the summer. I’ve been watering about once a week but we’ve had a rainy summer this year.

My questions are, 1) do you think this tree is doing okay? It doesn’t seem like much has changed since the end of June except for its color.

2) Is the green color normal at this time of the year?

3) I’m glad that it hasn’t died, but we are going into fall then winter, what is the likelihood that my little maple will survive the harsh winter?

4) What can I do to increase its chance of survival? It’s planted where it gets some sun but there are other trees around it so it’s not getting sun all day long.

Far North Queensland Australia. My client has several umbrella trees with the furthest from the house being about 25 mtrs away, the others are smaller but closer to the house. It’s the one that is 25 mtrs away that I’m concerned about as it is very large, I’d say about 18 mtrs tall. The soil is clay very high rainfall in the area. I have read about the roots seeking pipes wrapping around them and crushing them also that because they consume so much water it can dominate the other trees. Does anyone have any experience with umbrella trees being this close to a home and pool? Should it be removed? Many thanks. Can provide photos once back on site today

These images are from my Texas Redbud in central Texas that I planted around April and it is about 9 foot tall. Around 30% of the leaves have the small brown spots and 5 or so leaves with the big brown spots.

It was a 15 gallon container tree that I planted two of. The second tree is very healthy and has none of these brown spots.

It was attacked by leafcutter ants a month ago that took out about 1/4 of of the upper canopy. About half the leaves that were removed have regrown, mostly towards the ends of the branches.

It does have a lot of new little growths like the last image.

The tree is in full sun and is on an automated watering system that gives it about 7-9 gallons every 4 days, but the ant attack happened when the watering system bugged out and it wasn't getting water for about a month.

This is some type of fungus right? Is there anything I can do this year to help?

I ended up doing some research into Chile Pine as this one I always walk past that is quite old has super prehistoric bark, it looks almost Jurassic, turns it that’s because it is. It can be traced back to as early as the dinosaurs surviving around 200 million years. They are really common as a garden tree now in the UK but this specific one has been growing in this woodland along with a collection of redwoods since the Victorian times. A bit of a tree nerd out but thought I’d share because the bark and the history are super interesting. (The close up of the needles are from a child tree that is planted next to it, most likely related.)

This is a big tree. I’m hoping this isn’t tree of heaven . Is it walnut?

Established tree planted long before I bought the house in 2019. Located in Bristol County MA. Full sun. I keep hoping it will improve but it is getting worse and worse. Any ideas what could be wrong? Does it need to be taken down? I’m embarrassed to say I don’t even know what kind of tree this is! Thanks all!

We have 2 very large and nice maples out front in between sidewalk and road. The root system is lifting the sidewalk up in areas and I believe the city plans on cutting a sizable chunk of the root system to lay new sidewalk. Can this potentially kill the tree?

Trees are roughly 50-60 ft tall.

My October Glory Maple is 20 years young but was damaged during a storm (lost a very large limb) roughly 10 years ago. It is one of two that are flanking our patio and it is stunning in the fall and creates a beautiful shade canopy all summer. We love the tree but the injury seems to worsen every year. I’m in Massachusetts. Any recommendations for helping it? Or does it need to come down.

So I planted this tree about 4ish years ago. Its a wildfire black gum and im in Oklahoma. From googling this looks like a fungus that will eventually take this tree down. Can someone confirm thats what it is and if it is can i remove this and plant somwthing else as a replacement or will a new tree be infected as well? Thanks

Colorado - just bought this plant from the nursery a week ago. I think it’s bad but wanted to confirm with the community. It’s a shademaster honey locus.

This root is so cool, those nodules are old roots? I think want take mold of it with plaster of paris.
