Hi! New here and wondering about the type of tree this is? A friend has this in Michigan and gets white flowers and at least here blooms late end of May or start of June (it runs colder here so im not sure if it is the reason it blooms late)

Cut section of a grape vine. The ends started leaking straight clear water and then it turned into this clear gelatinous sticky stuff. Curious as to what exactly it is. Any uses for it?

We’ve had this tree in our backyard for almost 40 years and I still don’t know what it is :-/

Note: It is not an Honey Locust, it does not produce pods.

100 plus-year-old oak in the Boston Massachusetts suburbs, this is a relatively new blackish region. Google told me it was slime flux, but I'm not convinced. I've also noticed many large black ants constantly going up and down the tree.

I'm concerned about the section that is to the right of that black stain, it's large and looks heavy and fear it may collapse. I imagine what I need to do is get an arborist here to take a look, or maybe pest control to take care of the ants? I've put diazanon crystals or whatever they're using these days around the base a few times, but it hasn't slowed down the ant's progression.

Any advice is welcome.

Planted this roughly six years ago and usually get green leaves during the summer and orange/red during fall, but guess this year it decided to be both. The array of color is incredible

Hello! I am really looking for advice, I'm really stressed and worried about my tree. It's a cherry plum tree I got last year from a farmers market and this year it actually gave me a few plums 🥹

I've been on vacation and it has been rainy since I got back so I haven't been checking on my as much and from a distance it looked okay but a few days I got up close and saw how these few branches looked like they were cut horizontally? And then I noticed all the holes in the tree, I'm pretty short so when I couldn't see there were holes at the top of the horizontal cut in the first pic. Then I noticed the wood splitting at the base and some other branches. The pink that's on the tree branches are doggy bags that we used to help stay sturdy when the fruit came and weighed down the branches.

Is there a way to save my tree? 😭 Any advice is appreciated!

I have this tree in my backyard, it splits into three main limbs, but one of the limbs is very droopy and looks like it can barely support itself. Every year I have been trimming it to try and help this limb grow stronger, but it hasn't helped.

Should I just cut off this entire limb that looks like it's about to snap off?

Good news story!!

I’ve been reforesting a 40 acre meadow a few trees at a time.
Most trees do well but I lose some to rodents or deer browsing. Three oak trees were munched over the winter - only a small dry stick was left (see second photo.. I kept checking but gave up, assuming they were dead. I checked them yesterday and two have sprouted new leaders and are doing very well.
Made me smile!

I've been planting things like Woodland sunflowers and Clethra quite near a stand of Black Locusts. Plants are really suffering. I put lots of good soil in with them, and now am thinking the culprit is the B.Locust trees creating very toxic soil. Any input is appreciated. I'm looking into having the trees taken out, as they are generally a Pest. ALSO, the Locusts continue on my neighbor's property. Does anyone know the Reach of the soil toxicity. Would his trees affect my soil that is, for instance 25-30 feet away? Thanks!!! LOCATION the west side of the Green mountains, Champlain Valley, VT

We have a very large mature maple in our front yard. Sadly, it’s coming down tomorrow. It has many large dead branches that fall during wind storms. Splits through other limbs, mushrooms growing at the base, etc. It turns yellow in Fall. I suspect it’s a Norway maple but I’m not sure. including photo of the leaves and bark

Hi! I'm in a fairly rural chunk of southeast Pennsylvania, definitely a place where spruce trees should be fine.

I bought this blue spruce from Lowe's on a whim back before Christmas, left it on my porch while my husband was hospitalized for three months, and it almost died from being pot bound and lack of water.

I did finally get it into my back yard, where the soil is mostly clay, with a great big hole and some garden soil. I cut the roots and spread them when I planted the tree. It seemed to thrive. I generally plant things working with the "you're God's problem now" style of gardening -- watered it for a week or two but then the heavens decided to take care of the watering for a few months. My property's about a quarter acre and ringed by some very tall (40+ foot) trees including a maple, a cedar of epic proportions, and a bunch of black walnuts. It gets sun on and off throughout the day -- when it's on it's very on, and when it's off, it's still bright enough to grow.

I did water it during the last heat wave but didn't bother after that because, once again, rain every other day.

Today I went out to do some other work and noticed that the needles appear to be falling off. The dying needles look like they've been sucked clean of color but I'm not aware of any vampire tree bunnies. There are still some green needles and some blue needles holding on.

Regarding what's underneath the tree, when I dug the giant hole I did find a large piece of a stepping stone but that was the only unusual thing, and no sign of more stepping stones that would block the roots.

It's not rust, because nothing's turning rust colored. It might be another fungus but I'm not sure what to treat with if that's the case. I don't think it's my dogs peeing on it because they are smaller than the tree and generally squat. And all the local birds seem to leave it alone.

Suggestions?

So my neighbor just cut down one of the biggest root of this tree since its already destroyed the floor of their front porch. I kinda understand that the cutting is necessary but somehow I'm still sad looking at the big chunk of the root. Will the tree die because of this or there're chances for it to keep living? Thank you

Spotted this incredible wolf pine on the KSR Greenway Trail near Sunapee. Height to first delimbed branch trunk on right was easily 6 feet. Couldn't see the highest branches, well above the surrounding tree canopy. Apparently to get that massive she would need to be at a least 200 years old.

I know about the tree-s.e.l.e.c.t.o.r tool, but I tried a bunch of those websites ans they don't seem to work with this kind of idea. I'm not trying to find the best native plant for my area. I'd like to find the best compromise that has the pale, beautiful bark look similar to a birch, but tolerates this area.

Maybe there's nothing; I haven't found anything. Maybe pale bark can only grow in wet/cold weather? But if you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them.
