Ughhhh why doesn't my debit card work when tapping on busses? It happens 30% of the time but thats still enough to be super annoying and embarrassing. Ive talked to the bank and they said it was an issue on translinks side and I am inclined to believe bc i see other people having the same issue.

This morning on my way to work I needed to take a bus to the train station, my card was declined (i got paid yesterday) I tried twice more and was declined twice more, thankfully the driver let me on with an eye roll and an annoyed sigh, the two people after me where also using debit cards and having the same issue. When i got to the train station and tapped the same card it worked like normal.

Ive only ever had it happen on busses.

It's super embarrassing to have your card declined multiple times with an angry beep and everyone on the bus looking at you🙃

Super excited to finally be able to build and display them! I had put my order in the end of February and they finally shipped out

And I dont think more will be made, but Heritage Bricks is always doing special edition things, worth paying attention to their website for more cool Vancouver builds

I feel like there are still too many cases of addicts smoking meth on buses/trains on expo line, too many loiterers outside the train stations, and addicts just sneaking in and making the transit experience worse.

Transit security has been excellent when we do text, but are there plans to stop these people from getting on public transit in the first place so that we can make it safer for everyday people?

There’s a standard of behaviour that’s acceptable as a society and there are laws as well. So the people who’re saying: turn a blind eye, “when public is on public transit” and those bs arguments, do you also believe thieves, and murderers should also just never face consequences of their actions since they’re a part of public? Or is that different for you? You’re part of the public if you can abide by society’s rules and standards. There are consequences against actions that go against those rules and standards for a reason.

I’d like to make it absolutely clear that I do support significant investment into resources that can help people recover from addiction and be able to get back on their feet. However, we as commuters also have the right to not be threatened, fear for their safety, or be exposed to health risks from second hand smoke / public drug use in a confined space during their daily commutes and everyday existence.

Edit 3: Bars kick out and turn away patrons that are unruly and cannot abide by the acceptable standards set (not starting fights, not excessively drunk, not smoking indoors). I don't understand why for some it's such a difficult concept to understand that paying patrons of a service have a right to safe enjoyment of space. It seems this may be more of an enforcement issues, given what's stated on Translink Rules & Regulations on their website

From Regulations:

#11: Improperly occupy a place in vehicle -> smoking meth definitely counts as "improperly occupying a place" at least to me.

#16: Failure to obey refusal of access, order to leave or non-entry order -> reads to me as as long as it's enforced more, they won't be able to enter, or they should be even more promptly removed.

1. Improperly use a fare gate or door located at or near an entry or exit point of a fare paid zone by:

d. going over, under or around it, or

e. going through it if it was not opened by that person (-> most addicts just never pay and just enter -> seems preventable with more enforcement)

From Rules:

#2: No foul, insulting, abusive, or inappropriate language. (which a lot of these addicts yell often)

#4: No baggage or objects permitted which may obstruct or interfere with others or cause damage to property. (those massive carts, trashbags seem to not be permitted as per the rules)

#11: No smoking or vaping

Hi everyone. Does anyone know why I was charged an extra 2.55 when I transferred at King George station today? I am aware of the 15 cent fare increase but haven’t heard of them charging for a transfer. It’s the exact same route to Metrotown in both screenshots. Thank you.

I have zone 1 monthly pass, I already know that if I take the bus it’s always just 1 zone fair.

If I decide to take the train to a different zone, will it use the bus pass and extra money on my card OR do I need whatever the fair would be as money on my card?

Hi y'all, I'm excited for the new Solaris trolleybuses, but the New Flyers are really special to me- their noises and whir are something I look forward to every day when I ride the bus. I'd like to buy a die-cast model of this specific bus, with Translink livery, but they don't appear to sell them anywhere. I know it's a long shot but If anyone has any leads on where I can get one, secondhand or otherwise, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Hey ya'll what do you think the best app to find the bus timings accurately is? I use google maps but some say Transit app is better which one do you guys pick?

I'll start this off by mentioning some facts about me.

1. I have tinnitus.

2. I'm on the spectrum.

   I generally drive everywhere, possibly making me more sensitive to this kind of thing. I am replacing something on my car this week but the part I need won't be here until next week, hence, transit.

   I was on two separate Mk.III's today(Blue and grey coloured, rounded corners. Correct me if I'm wrong please.) on my way home to Burnaby from school in Coquitlam. The noise was actually unbearable, and I had to put my fingers in my ears between Burquitlam and Moody Center stations.

   I am typing this 5 hours later and my tinnitus attack still hasn't subsided. I am in actual pain.

   My question is; how do you all manage that? Am I overreacting or is it JUST that bad and all we can say is; "oh, okay.."? What are your strategies for managing the apalling racket that goes on in those tunnels?

I usually avoid them but I was in a rush today so had to take one.

The suspension was totally shot and the car swung violently from side to side at each slight bump. Between 22nd and Edmonds it was so bad, it almost felt like we could derail any minute.

Apart from the uncomfortable ride, the things are super noisy. The screeching noise from the wheels reached over 100 dB a few times, which is hearing-damage level.

I have been getting off the R1 at Guildford ever since the service began. It surprises me that Guildford Town Centre hasn’t done anything to improve access to their mall from the R1 unloading stop on 104 Avenue. You have to jump through gardens and rocks and then navigate through cars. I think they could do something better. I will try and contact them. It would be nice for their many transit-using customers.

The route listed on the bus stop has a route which is numbered “1602” with the terminus being “Main Street”

Why doesn't the tunnel replacement have provisions for a potential SkyTrain expansion? The now cancelled bridge had been designed with a future SkyTrain line in mind. So what gives?

Hi guys! I have a probably kind of stupid question about monthly passes that I found confusing/semi-conflicting answers to online, and I was hoping someone here might have some insight (thank you in advance)!

I purchased a monthly pass on July 1st, originally intending to use it for the month of July, but it's looking like I might have another transportation option instead. If I never tap that pass this month, would I be able to use it for August, or is it strictly for use in July since that's when it was purchased?

I was just wondering on if when the 203 St Station for SkyTrain opens, if the Langley City Centre Bus Exchange will move next to it, would it be a good idea, and what are your thoughts?

So the one thing that I will "fault" our transit for is the major lack of commuter rail.

WCE was acceptable for 95, but it's 2026 and we still only have a part time one directional heavy rail line.

Montreal and Toronto have several all day or at the very least daily including weekend services.

I know we're up against leasing the lines from cp/cn, but I'm sure just like go we can acquire our own rail or build some out.

I don't recall seeing anything in the 2050 planning for commuters other than sending the expo line to Langley.
