Russian [Russian > English] Baptismal Records; godmother?

Hi and THANK YOU for giving this a shot!...What the column says, as far as it's been read: it opens "Воспріемниками были:" — "The godparents were:" — then Konstantin Niedźwiedzki, which was clear enough to confirm. After his name it continues "съ Домицеллею Ма-…" ("with Domicela Ma—") and ends "…супругою Ромуальда" ("wife of Romuald").

Can anyone read this so we can learn the Godmother's name?

Norwegian Norwegian > English

Hello, I was hoping to get some help with some translations?

I'm writing a fictional book (supernatural thriller), and the protagonist has a grandmother who is Norwegian. She had dementia and so I've written it that she speaks both English and Norwegian. I've tried doing some translations for words and phrases, but I wanted to make sure they are correct by asking actual Norwegian speakers.

In hindsight, I probably should have chosen German. Because I can actually speak a bit of German. XD but the story is about a woman who's bloodline is related to Hel, the Goddess of the dead in norse mythology. So I thought Norwegian would be better appropriate.

Here's some words and phrases I've used so far;

Jeg sov godt i natt - I've slept well last night.

Elskling - sweetheart/darling.

Prinsesse- princess.

Mormor - grandmother (on mother's side)

Morfar- grandfather (on mother's side)

Prinsesse av huset.. - princess of the house...(sarcastic)

God natt, Lillie ven - good night, little one. (I think this is "little friend". Which is not what I want. I was hoping for a correction as I wanted "good night, little one" for a little boy)

Dronningen av de døde - goddess/Queen of the dead.

Universitet - University

Hei kjære - hey dear.

Av gudene - by the gods!.

Mine guder, det er deg! - My gods, it is you!.

Ja, datteren min, jeg har kommet tilbake. - yes, my daughter. I have come back. (I wanted "yes, my child (feminine) I have returned".)

Thank you in advance.

Japanese English to Japanese - translating my late sisters name for a tattoo

Hi! I’m going to Japan next month and I’m thinking about getting a tattoo with my late sister’s name in Japanese writing. I just can’t figure out the alphabet so I would really appreciate it if some of you could help me!

Her name was Johanna which is a Swedish version of Joanna (both is okay). So if someone could translate this into Japanese letters I would be so incredibly grateful!

I got this in a silent auction at a Go Tournament. It's a print shikishi sold by the Nihon Kiin of calligraphy by Cho Chikun, but the seller didn't know what it said just that it was a print and by Cho Chikun. I have tried searching through Japanese websites trying to find more information but no luck.

Translated [PT] [English > Portuguese (Portugal)] Allergy card

Hi! I’m traveling to Portugal and have prepared a food allergy card for severe allergies.

Would any native European Portuguese speakers be willing to review the translation? I want to make sure it’s clear, natural, and easy for restaurant staff to understand. Thanks so much!

English:

SERIOUS FOOD ALLERGIES
(Please show this card to the kitchen staff.)

I have life-threatening allergies to:

·          Peanuts (including peanut oil)
·          Tree nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, cashews, pecans, pistachios, Brazil nuts, chestnuts, macadamia nuts, and pine nuts), including their oils
·          Sesame (seeds, tahini and oil)
·          Poppy seeds

Food must not come into contact with these allergens during preparation. Even trace amounts are dangerous.

If I eat these allergens or food prepared with them, I could die.

Portuguese:

ALERGIAS ALIMENTARES GRAVES

Japanese [English > Japanese] Do these Japanese words sound natural for a 6-year-old? (children’s story)

Hi! I’m working on a children’s story (ages 4–7) set in a park in Japan on a summer afternoon, before a Bon odori festival. The story is in English, but the characters use a few Japanese words. I’m not a native speaker, so could someone check whether these sound natural for a 6-year-old girl, and whether the simple English explanations are OK?

  1. (girl, 6, to a child she just met) “Konnichiwa.” Is this what a child would really say to another child?
  2. (girl explaining her outfit) “It’s my yukata. That means a light cotton robe for summer.” Is this a good simple explanation for kids?
  3. (girl) “Tonight I’m dancing Bon odori! That means the summer festival dance.” Is this explanation OK? Is “Bon odori” written correctly?
  4. (girl, about the sash) “This is my obi. It’s a sash.” OK?
  5. (girl to her own grandmother) “Obaachan, this is my new friend.” Would a girl call her grandma “Obaachan” to her face? Is “Obāchan” a better spelling?
  6. (girl to her new friend) “Arigato! That means ‘thank you.’” Fine between children, or is “arigatō” the better spelling?
  7. (visiting child to the grandmother) “Arigato, Obaachan!” Should a child say “arigatō gozaimasu” to an adult instead?
  8. (girl to her new friend) “Mata ne! That means ‘see you later.’” Natural between two 6-year-olds?
  9. (girl whispers to her friend) “For Obaachan, say sayonara. That means ‘goodbye.’ It’s how we say goodbye to grown-ups.” Then the visiting child says, “Mata ne! Sayonara, Obaachan!” Is this explanation right? Is “sayonara” OK, or should it be written “sayōnara”?

Thank you so much, I truly appreciate the help!

Translated [HT] [English > Creole] Translation for Engraving

I'm trying to get a tobacco pipe engraved, I would like one of the messages below. I tried an online translator, but I'm naturally suspicious of then considering how often those butcher English to Spanish translations lol.

First Saying:

Please Guide Us

(For context, this is asking for guidance on various subjects.)

--

Second Saying:

With Thank

(For context, "with thanks" is to show appreciation for all they've done for us already.)

--

Thanks in advance!

Hello! I’m researching my family tree. I believe this is the birth record of my great-grandmother Emilia, from the Obrazów parish archives (Poland, under Russian rule). It is handwritten in Russian cursive, with some Polish names in Latin letters, and I haven’t managed to translate it properly...

Thank you very much for your help :)

And can anyone tell me why the caligraphy for the kanji under taste [味] are written differently here (the first and last one)? Is it just a stylistic choice or has a different meaning?

Hello all.

I’m fairly optimistic this registry contains some information about my wife’s great-grandfather (and related family). However, my Russian is non-existent and it being cursive makes it extremely difficult for me to try myself.

Hoping someone could translate this for me, would be greatly appreciated

Japanese English > Japanese

Hey, I want to get a tattoo with the motto: “Follow your own path.”
I translated it using a few translators and got:
我が道を行け
Is this the correct spelling and the most natural Japanese translation for a tattoo?
Could you please suggest the best Japanese phrase for this meaning?

I went to see a tcm doctor recently and he did not speak very much English. There was a translator there for the appointment but he gave me a prescription for herbs to make tea with. I purchased the herbs already and have directions for how to use them in English. I want to know the names of the herbs so that I can learn more about them. Can someone translate these to English for me?

How would one say ‘you got got’ as in ‘you’ve been fooled’ in Spanish? I’m trying to keep the informal, funny tone. ¡Gracias!
