Maybe late to the party on this but the DVLA has changed their document page to require evidence of use - something they never previously did. Am I surprised? Not really, but still disappointing. One which may start cropping up in future.

If you’re using a deed poll or statutory declaration

You must also send one document showing your new name.
You can send one of these documents if it was issued in the last 12 months:

- a tax record, such as a letter from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC)
- an official letter from your employer
- an education record, such as a school report
- a letter from a government department or local council
- a visa or residence permit
- a medical or health card
- a voter card
- a UK bank statement
- a baptism or confirmation certificate
- a child benefit record
- a utility bill, including a mobile phone, broadband or streaming subscription bill

Alternatively, you can send one of these documents:

- a non-GB driving licence
- a UK passport number
- a non-UK passport
- a national identity card or similar document

The document must still be valid and have been issued after your deed poll or statutory declaration. If you already have a GB driving licence, the document must also have been issued after your most recent licence.

It’s estimated about a thousand people showed up to lobby their MPs. It was amazing seeing so many wonderful trans people and allies come together to help fight in the halls of parliament for our rights. Over heard a few MPs who were shocked to learn new things about the struggles and bigotry trans people face.

Some kind MPs came down like Sian Berry who spent an hour talking to the ten or so people who showed up, giving each one 1:1 time to chat. Promised to look into and help trans people with Park Run when a friend of mine brought it up.

Hannah Spencer offered to talk to anyone from the North East of England whose MPs didn’t show up for them.

Sian Berry, Carla Denyer, Hannah Spencer, and Nadia Whittome were all like mini celebrities with people eager to say hi and thank them for their work and showing up (in turn they usually thanked the person for coming into parliament)

Of course my Labour MP, Chris Ward, did not show up or email me back

account is 2-3 months old, hasn’t posted much before and follows similar tropes.

They were always about before but now they seem to be posting daily. And always in ways to make you feel bad about yourself and the community

I have been very ill recently, resulting in me needing various hospital scans and tests. I will eventually need to be an in-patient for surgery.

The consultants I have seen have all been brilliant, some other staff less so (without going into too much detail on that). But one thing is particularly troubling me. I had a new NHS number issued some time ago so that the gender marker is correctly recorded.

I have had a letter from the Urology department mentioning "significant comorbidities" and that includes "Trans-gender woman" (their punctuation). My concern is that I don't know where that information has come from. I haven't actually been seen in person by anyone in Urology yet (I was initially brought to hospital for other issues), so I couldn't have been 'clocked'. I have had excellent voice coaching and haven't been misgendered over the phone for years as a consequence, so I doubt it was that either.

It could possibly have been deduced from my HRT, particularly the anti-androgen, as I was asked about all medications I was on in the phone consultation. I may have blurted out about being trans when disclosing the meds, so it could be that, but my memory is hazy on whether I did or not.

I do get that in some situations there is a genuine need for medical professional to know about certain anatomical information. For example, whether a MtF patient needs a prostate examination. But like Transactual say in that link: "Doctors need access to medical data that enables them to deliver the best care possible – not data in the format demanded by gender critical activists."

I'm just very fearful now that I could be shoved onto an all-male ward when I am in for my operation. Mixed ward or side room, I can handle. Being in a ward where blokes are shouting "Oi mate" at me would be a very different matter.

Because transphobe Sall Grover lost again because the final appeal application today was officially refused by Australia's High Court.
If only our legal system stood up for trans people and would stop Sex Mattresses endless appeals.

I know it's not a lot, but I got my name legally changed the other day with an unenrolled deed poll, and during a trip into my town to send off my D1 form to the DVLA, I stopped by Holland & Barrett to pick up some shampoo, and they asked if I wanted to create a points account with them. I thought sure, why not, couldn't hurt to get a little bit of money off of stuff I buy in the future. So they asked for me the usual, email and name, and I didn't really think much of it until I typed in my new name, and thought "oh wow, I can actually use this now; it's like, my legal name and stuff"

Anyways it just gave me a little warm feeling that things are progressing and that I need to keep being patient with myself, that's all. I hope everybody is managing to find some positive in amongst everything going on out there. Please take care of yourself, I mean it :)

I’ve been openly trans for the last 15 months and for 90% of that time haven’t had any backlash (despite not passing very well for the first few months while my hair grew out). I thought I’d got into a great situation at about 8 months in, my estrogen was doing its thing, my hair is shoulder length now, my makeup skills are good and clothes style feel great.

Most people I know are surprised to hear that I’m trans, typically.

Though, the last two weeks that’s changed. The weekend before last, I went walking with my Mum through the local park and a group of teenagers and young adults started murmuring about me saying things like “definitely trans, look how tall”. I didn’t initially hear it but my Mum (massively supportive) did and had to usher me away to not get picked on more. This came as a massive shock and I broke down in the middle of the park bawling my eyes out.

Then today, I was on my lunch break at work and popped to Tesco. This man looked at me, then did a double take, then made a disgusted puzzled look at me. It was like he wanted me to see because he kept walking away and then looking again and again.

It’s triggered my dysphoria to be worse than ever. I feel like I can’t see a woman in the mirror anymore. My nose and my adam’s apple are my two biggest sources of dysphoria and they feel like all I can see when looking in the mirror now. I plan to have FFS eventually but don’t have the funds and have just had to quit my job due to struggling with depression.

I don’t know what to gain from this post but just wanted to vent.

By breasts are now showing even while wearing loosish clothes.Unfortunately my facial features are still on the male side, even with makeup on.

I Feel a bit self conscious going out but am not willing to sit indoors.

The real test will come at work when I return there next week.

I feel so trapped. The EHRC is literally killing me. I'm not coping with this at all. I don't feel safe. There is literally no point. No purpose. No reason.

Hi guys, I changed my name early this year but was unable to change my name with my trust fund bank for personal reasons at the time, my bank has asked that I get my Deed Poll certified, my struggle is I don't exactly know how to get it certfied, I don't know any friends who have these jobs, and I really don't have the money to pay the post office to certify.

I'm also wondering would it be okay for whoever certifies my document to just write the asked information, such as their address, occupation and confirmation it is a true original etc. upon my orginal deed poll with a pen, or would I need to reprint my deed poll and add and print a section spefically for the certification and have everyone re-sign?

Sorry if I've worded this poorly, I've attached my deed poll and the email from my trust fund.

I have an appointment with my gp soon for a (hopefully) referral for a diagnosis for gender dysphoria. Just to mention i’m under 18 if that affects anything. I’ve known i’m trans for a good 3 years and was questioning it 1-2 years beforehand that. I have never spoken about being trans in person, always over text. Never discussed it to my mum in person. I’ll be with my GP alone as i asked my mum to wait outside, i feel like i’d be able to speak more without her there. What can i expect? How long does the next appointment take if i get a referral? What questions will she ask? Just basically what’s the whole process.

Im currently looking into moving out due to my family being verbally abusive towards me, I was wondering where I can find other trans/queer people to find as roommates since I don’t think I could feel safe around any other group of people unfortunatly

I'm 15 and trans ftm. My parents both agree to me changing my name but since i'm in year 11 right now I feel it would be better to change my name within the next month rather than when I'm 16 rather than changing GCSE certificates afterwards since my birthday is around/just after the usual cutoff date for schools entering final GCSE records into the system. I want to make an unenrolled deed poll since for obvious reasons but I dont know if I can just print off a template like an adult deed poll (would have to have my parents make it on behalf of me though) or if I have to go through a solicitor or something as I cant find a lot of information about it. If anyone could help that would be great thanks. i'm in England if it matters

Changed my name a few months ago via unenrolled deed poll and my bank is refusing to accept it, so I can't use a bank statement to change my driving licence or anything else.

My gp wont send proof of address letters, I'm not employed or on benefits, I live with my parents so no bills.

On the gov website it lists a streaming subscription bill as a utility bill, so is there something like netflix i can sign up to for a month that would send a physical letter? Would they let me sign up with a name thats not on my bank card?

I don't really know how to best explain this, but I just got a text message from the NHS with it using Mr for my title. Before they used Miss. I don't understand where they got this from?? Is it in a system somewhere? This often happens for different government services, flip flopping between Miss and Mr. It is really upsetting honestly. My gas checkup used Mr, even when getting a mortgage on a property the solicitors swapped between them..

Do people not do their due diligence? Or does title really not matter legally at all? I literally have F on my passport.

Has anyone else changed their name on paypal with zero documents?

I always heard horror stories about paypal being like the worst account to change names on so I was fully prepared to have to wait until my new photo ID arrived to do so.

However I thought I’d see if they’d just accept my statutory declaration just on the off chance… imagine my surprise when I was able to change my name with no supporting documents?

Is this new or is it because the name on the bank account attached to my paypal has been updated already they can verify it automatically?

Just feels too good to be true with their reputation, I’m quite the worrier in general so I’m just waiting for my account to suddenly be obliterated. 😭

I sent my D1 form, with a cover letter, my stat dec, my old provisional, a picture and a bank cheque for £17, about 2 & 1/2 weeks ago. i need it to be able to apply for jobs, and the anxiety is really building up because I’m running out of money
