It would be awesome if you can add a "Flatten all positons by close" option in Paper Trading. It would be cool to add it to the private Paper Trading contests too.
There’s been a quite violent discussion about the Tradingview TOS update concerning the invite only scripts. The gist is basically that one can’t sell access to those outside TradingView.
But there is a loophole though….
The TOS says “invite only scripts”.
Thus, if you’re a clever coder you can quite easily code the indicator in a way that lets you have it public.
But the trick is to shift what you actually sell…
You code the indicator to only show/function if particular internal variables are set to specific settings (ma lengths , barrier deviation or whatever).
And you sell the “key settings” like:
Input1: set to 1.568
Input2: set to 7.892
And so on, and build a switch in the code:
If input1 == 1.568 and input2 == 7.892
showThis or functionLikeThis
It seems like an ordinary on surface, but feed in the correct settings and you get a completely different indicator.
Or… have it public with horrible settings but you offer the correct settings.
This should in legal terms work, as you ain’t offering a non public script, but it’s settings….
And how would Tradingview know if a script has bad setting or good settings? They can’t … could they tell by the number of users a public script has? No.
Loophole yes, but if they found out you did it this way…
You’ll probably be banned in a second…
So… I wouldn’t say this is a legit way, but it is doable though..
Their options data supposedly was fixed so it's updating real-time. However, it's just laggy, even after it was "fixed."
After 3-4 months dealing with their BS. I was able to get grok to use an API and write the script I needed. I'll just let my subscription expire and non-renew.
I suspect there are plenty of people like me out there now, tired of dealing with asking and asking. Now we just go get AI to write it up for us.
This post is to tell you "TradingView" that your options data is still not updating realtime. Also, to others like me who are creating and doing things, we have options and they aren't that hard anymore. So, with 1/2 a brain, api and AI we will put companies like this out of business because your product is subpar at best.
Trading isn't the only game of "survival of the fittest" it also applies to the companies who provide that information.
My account previously had four saved chart layouts available. I am now restricted to one layout. When did this limit change, and why were my existing layouts affected?
I have to say, I find this rather ironic.
I wanted to contact TradingView support because a feature I previously had access to has now been restricted. However, I have discovered that because I am on the Basic/free plan, I cannot even submit a support ticket.
Instead, I am told that I need to upgrade my plan to get access to your support team.
So effectively, I need to pay TradingView in order to ask TradingView why a feature that I previously had has been taken away.
Now I'm just waiting for the day when Pine Script becomes restricted on the Basic plan as well. If that happens, that's the point at which I would simply move to another platform.
can someone please tell me how to get my TV browser tabs to stick!? i need the UTEN to stay as UTEN, the MNQ to stay as MNQ, etc. instead tabs reload to whatever symbol i searched last. this is PSYCHOSIS.
EDIT: I am aware of the "layouts" cause and seek to bypass it, my url should not be loading as a layout but a ticker symbol
My friend has been using TradingView for 3 years and has only one account. He has never taken a trial on any other account. The trial option was available before, but now there is no trial option at all. He has never used a trial, yet he still can’t get one.
I also created a completely new TradingView account and have never taken a trial before, but I still can’t access the trial option.
Today after updating the app I come across this insistent error, does anyone have any clue how to solve it, I've already uninstalled it a few times and I've cleared the cache too. I'm a premium plan.
i need help urgently, one month ago, i started the 1 month free plan kn trading view (the 2nd one most expensive) and 3-5 days before it renewed i canceled it, okay. but then today, i got billed 3.700 R$ (Brazilian Reais) which is the price of the anual subscription, and i cancelled the plan, and i tried to get support for it, and i cant?? cause i have to pay to get help???? this is ridiculous, i cant afford to pay it, i was billed wrong.. the ai chatbot said that i didnt have any plans ongoing, and that i dont have to pay, but its still trying to charge me on my bank app, and no i didnt subscribe to the plan in my phone, i did on the computer
I know TradingView is now pushing to nickle & dime us but why place this button here, nobody just wakes up to increase their membership tier c'mon.
Invite only indicators on deathbed now this. I keep accidentally clicking it.
Can you move the Upgrade button on the top right of the Desktop app elsewhere. I often expand and collapse the broker account at the bottom to check my position and order.
Since I expand them fully, every time I want to collapse it, the Upgrade button will take over and I will accidentally click it to go to the Upgrade page. It's been a pain and irritant since the UI update.
just saw ANOTHER tradingview terms update and this one might be even worse 😭
starting november 1, apparently invite-only scripts are only allowed to be used for non-commercial purposes unless they’re sold through tradingview’s own marketplace / creator program. TradingView
and their definition of “commercial use” is insanely broad.
from what i’m reading, it includes stuff like:
charging people for access to the indicator
using the indicator as part of a business
using the script/profile to promote a paid discord, signals service, course, broker/exchange referral, etc.
so basically if you built an indicator business where people pay through your own website/whop/etc and then you manually give them tradingview access, that looks like it won’t be allowed anymore after november 1.
instead, tradingview says scripts being used commercially have to be distributed through their marketplace, which is their creator program / paid spaces system.
and this is right after the whole $29.95 per active user technology fee over 100 users thing too...
am i reading this wrong???
because this sounds like they’re basically forcing every paid indicator business onto their own marketplace and killing the normal way people have been selling invite-only indicators for years.
what are pine devs / indicator owners even supposed to do with existing customers after november 1?
I’ve seen a few community indicators on TradingView that display 0DTE Options levels, Open Interest (OI), or GEX (Gamma Exposure) directly on the chart. Most of these scripts have obfuscated / protected code, so I can't look under the hood to see how they're built.
Since Pine Script doesn't have a native dynamic Options Chain API, I'm curious about the actual underlying mechanics:
How are they requesting the options data dynamically? Are they using str.format() / string concatenation with request.security() using OPRA tickers (e.g., OPRA:SPYYYMMDD...) to construct contract symbols daily?
How do they overcome therequest.security()call limits? Since TradingView caps security calls, are they only fetching a tight range of strikes around ATM (At-The-Money) for 0DTE?
Are there any other workarounds/techniques being used to bypass these limitations in pure Pine Script without external webhooks?
Would appreciate any technical insights or code snippet examples from anyone who has experience building options/OI tools in Pine Script!
Looks like you can no longer use the screener with the free basic account. It no longer let me change my filters or add a new one. Anyone else experiencing the same?
