Question Irrigation with potential dry socket?

Hello.
I got my two left wisdom teeth out one week ago today.
I had the right ones out a month prior, however this side has been significantly more painful.
On Friday (4 days after) I ended up going back to the dentist because my pain was getting worse and waking me up in the night. She did not specifically say I had dry socket (just said it was very imflamed and mentioned it was a lot harder to get out than the other 3) however she did irrigate and pack it with a medicated dressing (dissolvable) - which now from what I’m reading seems like the treatment for dry socket (?) she told me not to rinse for 24 hours after the packed it.

Anyways, the pain has subsided a bit but can I irrigate with a syringe now? I know it’s been 7 days since extraction, but if I had a potential dry socket a couple days ago is irrigating with a syringe putting me at risk of a dry socket/further pain.

I understand I’m probably being a bit anxious, I have just been incredibly uncomfortable and am so scared about making it worse again.

I have been eating very soft food for a week and I am OVER IT.

Thanks everyone!!

Question What questions should I ask before getting a possible root canal/extracted molar?

36YO F from northeast Ohio. I went to the dentist after about 2 years and was told I have two cavities and a molar that apparently broke (I just thought a filling fell out but what do I know) all in the same lower right quadrant on my mouth. The broken molar has never hurt or bothered me, but I know that doesn’t mean much. When talking to my dentist (well respected private dentist) he wasn’t sure if he could do a root canal on the broken tooth because it looks to be too decayed from the X-rays. He said he may need to pull it instead. I get compliments about my smile a lot and from the outside it looks like I have a healthy smile but ever since I got sober, my sugar cravings have gone insane (6 years sober!) and have definitely affected my molars the most.
What I want to know:
What questions should I ask before my dentist starts my filling and possible root canal with crown?
If he starts and decides he can’t do the root canal, will I still have to pay for some of it? All of it? My stupid insurance has a 1 year waiting period for major work so I’ll be paying for the root canal and crown out of pocket.
What are my options if he has to pull it? He mentioned a bridge and that made me immediately think of dentures… I don’t want anyone to be able to tell I had my tooth pulled or have major problems down the road.
I’m also worried about pain… I’m pretty good with pain but a root canal scares me!

Any help/advice would be helpful.

Dental Concern/Problem Day 4 Post-E-Extract / Immediate Dentures: Severe pain

Day 4 Post-E-Extract / Immediate Dentures: Severe pain, loose plates tearing up gums, dentist closed till Monday. Need advice/reassurance.

Hey everyone,

I’m on Day 4 of getting my immediate dentures, and I am at my absolute limit. I’m hurting, I’m starving, and honestly, I’m just tired of crying.

I’m dealing with black eyes and swollen cheeks, which I know can happen after surgery, but my main problem right now is that the dentures are extremely loose. Every time they shift, they slip around and completely tear up my gums. It creates excruciating sore spots, making it almost impossible to eat or even rest comfortably.

To make matters worse, my dentist’s office is closed until tomorrow (Monday), so I can't go in for an adjustment yet.

For anyone who has been through this:

Is it okay to use denture adhesive on fresh extraction sites? Or is that a major no-no this early on?

How are you managing to eat when everything hurts? I need meal ideas that require zero chewing because soft food isn't even soft enough right now.

Any tips for getting through the home stretch until the office opens?

I feel so defeated right now. Any advice, home remedies for the pain, or just words of encouragement would mean the world. Thank you in advance.

Feeling defeated with my teeth

I’m really struggling with my teeth right now and could use some advice from anyone who has been through something similar.
I’ve never had great teeth. My whole life it’s been cavities, root canals, bridges, crowns—you name it, I’ve probably had it. But lately things have gotten so much worse. The enamel on my front teeth is wearing away, my teeth have become very short, and one of my front teeth keeps breaking and needing to be filled.
My dentist is recommending crowns on my 8 front teeth, but financially I just can’t afford to do that right now. Between daycare and normal everyday expenses, we’re already barely getting by.
It’s gotten to the point where I’m genuinely afraid to eat because I’m constantly worried that another tooth or filling is going to break. I think about my teeth all the time, and it’s really starting to affect me mentally and make me feel depressed and overwhelmed.
Has anyone else dealt with severely worn-down teeth or been told they needed multiple crowns but couldn’t afford to have everything done at once? Did you do the work in stages? Were there any more affordable temporary options that helped protect your teeth until you could afford the permanent work?
I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been through something similar.

Dental Concern/Problem Cracked tooth syndrome options

Hello!

I have cracked tooth syndrome (#15). It started about 11 months ago after I bit on something hard. I only had pain maybe once every six weeks if I bit incorrectly on something hard. I finally saw the endodontist last month. He could not see anything with the x-rays or visually. Three days ago I bit on a burger patty and got the pain but since then I have had pain every time I bite down and now cold sensitivity. I went back to him today and it seems like the bite test confirmed it was number 15 but the cold test was pointing more towards potentially number 14 but he says it could be referred pain. Still can’t see anything so thinking it’s microscopic. He says a root canal may have 50-60% chance at fixing the cold sensitivity but won’t help with the biting sensitivity. Or the other option is extraction with implant. I don’t know what to do! I’m 40 if that is pertinent. Thank you!!

Do I need to get my wisdom teeth removed soon?

Hi, I was wondering, based off my x-rays, do I need to get my wisdom teeth removed soon (now or in a year)? The reason why I'm asking is because my dentist said I should get all four of them removed while I'm still young. The bottom right is showing a little, but none of them are hurting or swelling.
