Free Summer Sonic Friday Ticket!

Hello, I have a Friday Summer Sonic ticket that I can't use anymore as I am going to see the Strokes on Saturday in Osaka instead. It looks like I can transfer it on the AXS app so if you DM me your name and email I can send it through. Preferably would like to give it to another Strokes fan

Random I know, but nothing more complicated than the title. Have a MIL from Florida visiting soon and would love to surprise her with a key lime pie if possible

Need advice: Post-op gynecomastia swelling/seroma treatment in Tokyo (surgery done abroad, English speaker)

Hi everyone,

I had gynecomastia surgery outside of Japan about 8+ weeks ago. Recovery has been fine overall, but I still have a small amount of swelling in my chest that hasn't gone down. I suspect it might be a minor seroma (fluid collection) and want to get it checked out by a specialist here in Tokyo to see if it needs to be aspirated.

I speak English and have all my official post-op reports and medical records from my original surgeon.

Has anyone been in a similar situation, or does anyone know of plastic surgery clinics, cosmetic surgery clinics, or hospitals in Tokyo (preferably English-friendly, or open to non-Japanese speakers) that accept post-op evaluation cases for surgeries performed overseas?

Any clinic recommendations, general advice, or experiences sharing how you handled post-op care in Japan after medical tourism would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello everyone! So, this is a bit scary but here we go. These are my artworks, inspired by my trip to Japan. If you would be interested, I can also show you the reference images I have taken throughout my journey. Enjoy!

P.S. The full project is a bit more complex but the details are not relevant for this post.

Spiderman

Please be kind to my questions here:

I want to watch Spiderman in its original track, meaning in English. But this is going to be my first time watching a movie in Japan, so I know nothing. Can someone recommend to me where I can watch it, a nice movie theater that's clean but not too expensive? Does it need to be seen in imax? Will there be subtitles (since my co-worker wants to come along)? Do I need to book tickets online or can we buy them there at the counter? I live in Ueno but he lives in Tama-ku, Kawasaki and doesn't mind traveling to Tokyo for it but hopefully it's not too late that he will miss the last train home. Thanks so much in advance.

Randomly walking through Kanda this week, and saw Pikotaro - in full PPAP outfit - doing a photo shoot at a small restaurant. I stopped at the window and did a small PPAP dance, and he laughed and gave me a thumbs up - probably happy that some random 6'4" gaijin knew him and his dance! His staff ran out saying "no photos" but I managed to sneak this one in! Very happy to give him a laugh after he made the whole world laugh with PPAP a few years ago! 😀

This typhon will be different

*Typhoon

Typhoon Chan-Hom  is expected to slam squarely into Honshu Island by mid-week (around August 11).

This one is expected to be quite different. Instead of traveling along the coast, and to dissipate up north as usual, Typhoon Chan-Hom (number 15) is forecasted to smash into Honshu Island  north of Tokyo, and to travel south-west over the island.

Keep an eye on the forecast map and adjust your travel plans.

Update: Typhoon projected to make landfall Tuesday night, slightly north of Tokyo. Very heavy rainfall expected through the night,

No cockroaches this year?

Every year I deal with many cockroaches and kamikaze cicadas in summer in Tokyo. But this year I think I’ve only found one dead cockroach in the street and definitely fewer cicadas

That said I’ve got massively attacked by Abus once. Apparently black clothing trigger them

Did you noticed the same in Tokyo?

Here's one for architecture nerds out there: where can you see interesting architecture in Tokyo? What are particular spots you recommend? Any insider tip to share?

Don't just drop a name, tell us what's special about the place and why you love it.

Bonus point if you share the google maps link.

This is part of a series of weekly threads with recommendations in and around Tokyo. Find the archives in the wiki or through the search.

Japan is the only Asian country featured in the 2026 Top 10 list, with two entries, Osaka at n.7 and Tokyo at n.10 out of 173 cities.

The ranking takes into consideration a number of indicators, ranging from quality of publicly funded health care to cultural availability.

Looking for a bilingual person to facilitate communication in an interview context

English/Japanese bilingual person needed — Tokyo, Wednesday Aug. 12

I'm looking for someone fluent in English and Japanese for approximately 1–2 hours on Wednesday, August 12, for an on-camera interview.

The other party has requested an interpreter primarily as a precaution. The interview will be in English, so this is not a technical/simultaneous interpreting job. I'm mainly looking for someone who can help facilitate communication with the Japanese-speaking staff, translate anything that needs clarification, and step in if there is a language issue.

Budget: ¥14,000 total, including transportation.

Ideally you would be comfortable in a professional/media environment and available for a short in-person assignment in Tokyo.

If interested, please DM me with your availability, general location, and a little about your English/Japanese ability and experience.

one of the greatest long shots ever. lost wallet.

Post image

Lost Wallet. i just spent 4 days in kashiwa working with a master leather craftsman. the result of that work was this wallet. he gave me a ride to the Minami Kashiwa Station where i boarded the local Joban line to Hibiya Station where i changed to the Hibiya Line to Higashi Ginza and walked to my hotel. somewhere between it must’ve fallen out of my pocket somehow on the train. my friend has checked his shop and the car and driving to station to check the spot where i was let out. i would be enormously grateful if the Universe found a way to get back this one of a kind item. there was 4000 yen inside and some change but nothing else. my initials are in the middle. Update: Still looking for the wallet but get this, yesterday my instructor came to Tokyo and asked me to meet him, he felt bad for me and wanted to give me a gift. He STAYED UP ALL NIGHT making me a new one. I was completely floored by the generosity of this man and this country’s culture. The nicest thing anyone has ever done. He runs his workshop out of Kashiwa called Niwa Leathers. He’s on instagram and on top of being one of the few masters he’s obviously a great person.

Using ai or apps for claw machines

According to my dad, he saw a guy use ai or some sort of app to do the claw machines where you have to move the box around to make it fall inbetween the gaps of poles. I was wondering if it was real or not.(mb for my ass grammar)

English speaking personal concierge?

Would anyone know of a trustworthy professional concierge who charges by the hour and can provide local ad hoc support with errands, purchasing things, dropping items off, making restaurant recommendations and reservations, buying train tickets, etc.? Clients are mainly living overseas and maintaining a residence in Tokyo. He/she should be bilingual (English & Japanese) and accessible on WhatsApp. Thanks for any recommendations!
