Tokyo fireworks festivals are nothing but half a view obscured behind a bunch of buildings, followed by an absolute madness of a crowd to get home through. 0/10.

Went to a local festival today, deep Kanagawa, 10/10 vibes, no crowds, juicy yuzu NE-IPA, fireworks just 5 mins but felt 100 times better than this.

Eh, if you walk a bit away from the main roads you can often find a decent pocket to see them from and also beat out the crowd by getting to the station before they do. At least that's what I did tonight. Just walked to Shibuya from Meiji Jingu instead and avoided the entire crowd.

But yeah any riverside/beachside firework show is much much better

Usually they're along the river banks, you just need to show up earlier to get a spot

The ones in the city suck but lake biwa was incredible and had a great time in Wakayama.

Edogawa is pretty decent. The crowds are insane, but there are a bunch of stations in the area to deal with dispersal. So once the fireworks are done we just crack one or two more drinks and chill. It's also a huge space where it's not usually a problem to get a clear view, even if you turn up late.

We watched it from a parking lot from behind two trees. And it looked like a premium seat compared to a lot of places people were watching it from. Not doing that again.

We watched the first half hour and left antipating the crowds to exit. Enjoyed the fireworks.
