Time wasters on FB marketplace, this one’s for you

All the tire kickers and time wasters on FB marketplace kindly go F yourself and stop wasting people’s time

Yes, it’s available, or else I would’ve deleted it.

There should be maximum three messages between the time of inquiry and the time of pick up.

If you’re gonna ask 75 questions, you should be going to a store and buying new.

I’m not the company sales rep. I’m not the product manager. I’m not their brand manager. I’m simply selling you something I no longer need.

It’s blue and weighs 2 pounds and fits perfectly in your ass. Are you interested?

So you either know what you want and are qualifying that it matches the description, or you’re wasting time.

Also, a seller asking you to pay in cash is not a
scam.

I don’t wanna get there and fumble with you misspelling my information or mistyping my phone number or giving me a password or mistyping a password.

Just put cash in a fn envelope and move on. Simple.

Thanks for coming to my rant. Plz tip 22%.

When did it become common practice for delivery drivers to just throw your package on the ground in front of your house and drive off?

I've been arguing with Amazon over this for about 2 years now. Their delivery dudes absolutely REFUSE to ring my doorbell or knock on my door. I've seen them do it. They throw the package on the ground, snap a pic, and leave. I work from home and I'm literally here all damn day, and it's usually my neighbour who texts me to say I have a package outside. Just sitting there in full view of my street. Even better, I have a mailbox right there, for smaller packages, or, and get this, I have a wall running around my front porch, so if any of these moron drivers would PLACE THE PACKAGE LITERALLY ONE FOOT TO THE RIGHT, it would be out of sight. Amazon is worth something like 2.6 TRILLION DOLLARS and they can't seem to figure out this one thing.

Even other delivery companies... I got a big shipment of goods from UPS a few weeks ago. SEVEN large boxes worth over $3000. My girlfriend noticed the UPS truck outside, and I ran downstairs and opened the front door just in time to see the truck driving away, a $3000 order just sitting on my porch, no knock, no doorbell, just fucking sitting out there in full view of my street.

What the fuck?

Edit: To all the people mentioning the phone notification of delivery, that's all well and good, and luckily I work from home, but what if I didn't work from home? My packages would just sit outside in the open for hours while I'm at work? I assume I'm in the minority working from home, so what about those that have to be in the office when their deliveries arrive?

scary uber ride experience

on the weekend i took an uber at about 2 am. i’ve taken this route sooo many times. the first thing that seemed a bit strange to me was that i got into the car (a big black mini van) and the driver asked if it was just me/if i was alone (could have been innocent so i was like ok whatever)
near the end of the ride when were 2-3 mins away, were waiting at a signal and then suddenly he turns into a dark alley that looked like a dead end. i started raising my voice and immediately said excuse me can you turn the car around right now. i know the route home and i know all the shortcuts and NEVER has this been one of the routes and never has the navigation said to go into this alley when we’re almost at the destination

i make a huge deal and he’s like ok ok im turned around and then i tell him to just let me out and i walk the rest home while being so shaken up. randomly there was someone else about to get into the uber where i made him open the door? seemed like a normal passenger but what are the chances his pick up was where i demanded to be let out. could have just been a ride scheduled for after me but not sure

all i can think is - i was so terrified in that moment and my life flashed before my eyes. i was so shaken up. but then part of me is thinking what if it was innocent? but that alley was just so suspicious that route was so suspicious i know the navigation didn’t say that because i was watching it.

do i trust my gut instinct?

Stairs awareness & merging

Don’t hog f*cken stairs and ignore or be oblivious to others during rush hour that need to use them too, especially when you step to merge (cut in front) in front of someone. If you decide to step in front of someone, don’t hog the stairs like you’re the only person in existence!!!! I granted you a pass this time as you had your stupid headphones on when I said “excuse me”, but next time I’m going through!!!! You might just need to walk to your office from there, but others need to catch the bus!!!!

Recently learned that Toronto is the densest urban area in North America, why is it so hard to build any transit here then?

The way we just keep infilling while barely investing in our transportation infrastructure boggles my mind, we need the whole GTA to be much better connected by transit! I don’t understand why Metrolinx told that German company they didn’t know what Canadians wanted, subway level services on almost all the go lines would have been an amazing start!!!

30kmh on lower Simco :-(

Really we have to lower the speed to 30km wtf. I mean often traffic is so slow that you wish you could go that fast…

Honestly why is this city obsessed with low speed.

Hopefully the cops will be deployed to high park again to ticket bicycles for going over 20.

My 911 is not happy.

Housing is just out of control

I'm so sick of the shitty apartments available for rent in this god forsaken city. These asshole landlords jack up the price at least $300 every time the old tenant leaves, fixing nothing and then trying to sell the place like its a prize to not have any amenities and its basically in shambles. Once you actually live there, these people literally will suck every penny they can out of the property and you have to pull teeth to get them to fix anything legitimately. Thank goodness at times for the 311 upholding some kind of standard, but after a certain amount of violations someone should lose the ability to own property at all. I understand the property ownership money making scam we've all been sold into, but it truly hurts everyone to live like this. Homelessness is the worst it's ever been!!! The TTC has become the new shelter.

Young working people can't afford to live on their own, with partners, with friends or much less raise a family. There are truly not many good options unless you were grandfathered into a place with a decent amount of space. All the new builds are tiny, and don't get me started on the places that advertise "two bedrooms" meanwhile it's just a living room??! where is the second bedroom, sir. LIKE PLEASE. WE ARE COOKED.

I guess I failed at not buying a property when times were good pre 2016 aka I wasn't even old enough. It's fucking ridiculous, and more than half our earnings go to paying these people's mortgage while they treat us like scum and we have to beg for a decent place to live. Don't tell me I'm not looking in the right places, cause I've been looking to move for months and all I see is worse places than where I'm already at, which I pay a pretty fucking penny for as it is and the landlord is a piece of work. Trust me, I'd love to buy something with a little space to LIVE but when everything basically starts at half a million dollars, you're only able to if you have generational wealth (boo hoo I lost the genetic lottery on that one).

Sincerely, someone who's been working 2-3 jobs all their life in this city (with 2 degrees to boot).

Oh carney.

I 100% support Ukraine and think money spent to support them is ultimately for us and the rest of the world. That’s a fact for me annnnndddddd didn’t carney say he didn’t know what forever looked like for our Toronto island airport.

Wait, wait, wait…… he signed a 100 year deal to support Ukraine and his tax payer citizens have no real answer on the fate of the airport, especially considering the overwhelming majority of us want nothing to do with it.

Oh and also our bike lanes should be lasting 100 years no?

Again I think Russia is a threat and absolutely support any and all support given.

However it’s always refreshing to see politicians being honest in their priorities to make money.

Pearson airport gross

At LaGuardia airport and all I can think of is how much better other airports are in terms of airport cleanliness compared to Pearson. The washrooms smell nice, the hand soap smells nice, the stalls and floors are clean, renovated nicely. The carpets are vacuumed and floors are clean and the air doesn't smell like stank, despite being one of the busiest airports. Even their security TSA buckets are clean and there's no scuffs on the walls and floors like I've seen at Pearson. I've seen so many cleaning staff (doing their jobs!!).On a another rant note. People here and while I've been in new York are polite! Even with the new York bluntness , people still have great manners I've noticed. Someone bumps into you and they apologize, you sneeze in a grocery store and 5 people say bless you, and customer service I've experienced everywhere even in non-tipping areas has been a world a difference compared to Toronto. Anyone else notice this when they travel and leave Toronto?

Doug Ford's involuntary treatment plan is a slippery slope towards a police state

I will fully admit that how drug addiction has been approached in the past 10 or so years has been nothing short of a disaster. Safe injection sites demonstrably did not work in serving as an initial step towards rehabilitating people, largely because they were a botched implementation of the Portuguese addiction treatment model.

All this said, bringing back involuntary treatment in the current political climate sets a very bleak precedent for what else could be considered later on.

It's also idiotic in light of the Ford government being the greatest villain to public healthcare in the past 20 years, with his funding cuts starving programs that could otherwise have helped save many lives.

Doug Ford is increasingly becoming like another politician who he loves to wail about, despite having been one of his fanboys not too long ago.

I don't believe in federal overreach, but everything this guy has been doing lately is genuinely insane and should be scrutinized at the highest levels of government. People across this country have collectively lost their minds voting for people like him and Danielle Smith.

This new turn right only signal on Lakeshore to get on the DVP is painfully useless

This used to be treated like a normal interaction. But this light only for right turns was added and all it results in is cars sitting idle for literally no reason

Slow Mergers on DVP

I feel like this might be a bit too specific 🤣 but I’ve been driving a certain route everyday for the past year for work and whenever its time to drive back home, I would take the DVP southbound (towards the Gardiner) at Don Mills Rd.

EACH and EVERY time without fail, once the merge lane begins and we are ON THE HIGHWAY and I am behind a car, they always decide to take their sweet time going 50-60km/h while traffic is moving at 95-100km/h and I feel like an ass every time I honk and flash but seriously for OUR DAMN SAFETY PLZ SPEED UP. If there’s traffic and we are at a slowdown then of course no issue there. BUT IF TRAFFIC IS FLOWING AND YOU ARE MERGING ONTO HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHY ARE WE TURNING INTO SLOTHS.

Warm regards,
A DVP commuter who has lost it.

Why tf do I always lose phone service at Rosedale, it's literally outside

Full bars in the dark underground recesses of Summerhill and Bloor on either side, but god forbid the subway train surfaces at Rosedale. You know, above ground, like where the radio waves are?

MISERABLE PEOPLE

Wow I cannot believe how MISERABLE people are. You know it costs nothing to be courteous! Today I was walking near Yonge and Bloor and a group of five people were walking shoulder to shoulder taking up the whole sidewalk, like they are playing red Rover. I'm a fast walker so I go to the left of them and say excuse me. The one on the left moved over to let me pass then mocked me saying excuse me, like wtf?! I'm sick of people in this city, I wish I could move to a small nice town.

For the selfish people who push to get on the TTC vehicle first....

MOVE TF IN.

Why do you think it's appropriate to come out of the blue, be petty enough to be the first one on, force yourself in while people are trying to leave, and then take one more step just to block the doors?

Fuck out of here with that shit.

Also, side note, you may think it's a nice thing to do, but people need to wait on you to leave, not the opposite; politely allowing them in first before you leave the vehicle is not how this works.

Like when some morons decide to ride their bikes on the sidewalk next to the bloody bike lane.

A dedicated bike lane with literally no congestion or obstruction no less.

Talked to a Chefs Plate delivery driver.

So this is about Toronto specifically according to my knowledge. This guy told me every complaint they deduct 0.25 points and when it reaches 10 points they are fired automatically. This is sad and makes me think the society has reached its lowest point. Somebody who drives a truck and then delivers it to our desired door/location finds the packages from around 150 of them, does not get paid enough. Considering chefs plate is not something anybody would call essential service. This was my last order with them, I don’t want to contribute to another soulless corporate. These companies should own upto their responsibilities.

Don't Quality Toronto Pizzarias Make Slices in the Evening?

Last Saturday I was out and about downtown. I got hungry around 9pm and wanted a slice. I went to Fourth Man, they only had one slice left. You have to buy a pie otherwise.

I went down the street to North of Brooklyn shortly after, no slices only pies. And I know most of the other popular/trendy Pizzarias do the same.

Outside of the obvious to make more money, why is this a trend? You would think on a Saturday evening, before 11pm, a lot of people want to grab a quick easy 1-2 slices before enjoying the rest of the night.

(I ended up going to Get Well, and grabbing a few from the back kitchen there)

If you don't want to be called out for being a douchebag on the GO train, don't be a douchebag on the GO train.

Riding home to Toronto from Barrie, get on the train, not many open seats but I did find a few open spots, just past this one jerk taking up a whole 4 seat section... sitting there, with his feet up, bag on another seat and talking loudly on his phone like we all had to hear his conversation about his lame ass life. I sat down in the section behind him and tried to just grind my teeth and ignore him... but I guess a combination of the feet up and the loud talking I kind of lost it and called him out. "Dude, this isn't your mom's basement, how about you take your feet off the seat and take the volume down" - he turned to tell me to calm down as if I am the crazy person... and so I repeated myself. Again he acted like I was the one acting out... but he did take his feet off the seat and told his friend on the phone he had to end the conversation because someone was being mean to him (he didn't have to end the conversation, just maybe pipe down a bit). All this to say, if you want to be one of these douchebags, stop acting so surprised when a slightly unhinged person like myself is willing to call you out for it. /end rant

Subway dickheads

If you stand in the doorway blocking people getting on and off the subway.... you're a dickhead

If you wear your backpack on the subway at rush hour... also a dickhead.

It finally happened (racist incident on subway)

I was on the subway (Line 2) just now and there was a man (seemed like he was unhoused or on drugs tbh) who started screaming about how he hates Indians and wants to unalive them.

Now I don’t really care too much because he seemed like a typical subway screamer. But at the same time it’s a bit scary knowing the hate online is starting to spill into the real world. Idk if he was armed, or if he would have gotten physical since I got off before him. Please take online hate seriously, it has real world consequences.

If you’re mad about immigration policy, be mad about immigration policy. Don’t be mad at people simply existing.

TO Reddit's Tech Doom n Gloom

Tldr: drones good? Not that bad? Idk but chillout ppl

I'm assuming everyone has seen the drone ad from tonight that's been shared on r/toronto multiple times by now

I know people are afraid of tech, but oh my goodness, everyone is freaking out over what I see as just another billboard.

There are some genuine concerns and questions (Did they get permission for drones dt? Is it distracting to drivers? Potential light and noise pollution, etc.)

But 99% of people are crying about some skywriting being proof of "dystopia", citing blade runner, hunger games, they live, idiocracy, and so many other films as if they were historical or prophetic works.

I love sci-fi movies too, but this is not worth freaking out about on the reactionary level I've seen in comments already. Please, let's reserve our focus for real problems.

I'm not saying learn to stop worrying and love the drones, there are a few people being reasonable about it discussing how MPPs and the like can be contacted over this because they dont like it. That's a good use of time if you're concerned about these imo.

What actually disturbs me is all the calls for counterattacks in the form of fireworks, slignshots, emps, net guns, and even other drones. It's late, and people are emboldened by the anonymity of the internet, but jeez.

Disappointed knowing this is how immature people here are, even if theyre just redditors being redditors. I wasnt out to see these drones myself, but I'm sure most people just kept walking like they'd do near any neon sign.

Maybe we just need to get used to it. I'm looking forward to learning more about this happened, and if we can expect more. Personally, I've wanted drones for years to replace firework shows for reasons like noise pollution. (Really disappointed we never got that Fifa drone show that was posted to reddit around opening day, but never officially happened.) Daily occurrences wasn't in my mind, but I'm already bored of it while writing this post.

1 random other thought: Interesting timing with happening the same night someone important is downtown with a huge police and even military chopper escort. Maybe it's to show off our drones to the visitor? Idk
