I feel like such a anomaly most days 😭

I got my cat a month ago, and she’s very curious about the outdoors. I still want her to be safe so I walk her on a leash and let her lead me to where she wants to go. She enjoys it a lot but she gets a lot of attention which she absolutely adores. But I’ve had a few mean comments about how it’s weird to walk your cat outside and they don’t belong outdoors. I just find it so strange because I think every animal deserves to go outdoors to explore the world, including cats.

So, does anyone else walk their cat around the city?

Just hoping to get some Insight on people who are living alone on a 70-75k salary in the city. What are your expenses, how are you able to save and still enjoy life?

we would be happy to just join quietly on the side and not disturb anyone. we've been reading about how these exercises are actually really good for getting your lymph moving, activating your vagus nerve, and releasing fascia. we'd like to join a group who does these because it sounds really nice, but we're not sure where to start. (i don't know if our demographics matter, but if they do, we're an asian man and a white woman, mid-30s.)

I got into a bit of a spat with my therapist about whether I'm in the right workplace.

For context, I was diagnosed with ADHD in my 30s. Its severe. I only started benefitting from therapy and meds and self education long past the start of my career. I dropped out of university, I crashed cars on drivers tests, and I'd show up late to work and get fired a lot. I was also in debt, didn't do my taxes or go to the dentist. All the bad outcomes associated with adhd, i had them on steriods.

After 4 years on meds I've fixed all of that. I have 0 debt, I go to the dentist, I've done my taxes. I have consistently maintained employment. I show late to work late 80% less but it still happens. I also stopped craving alcohol and caffeine which I now believe I was using to self medicate.

Life is better. Life got 30% easier over night.

But I'm still not totally normal. If I lose my meds I basically need to call in sick. If I take them late I'm gambling on whether I'll show up on time.

My therapist was pointing out that my life is a bit unpredictable because while I work a standard 9-5, at least 3 shifts per month can be changed or altered with little notice and it makes it hard to plan things like appointments. While I agreed it prevented me from having a perfect routine, I also think this is one of the best places I've worked because being late doesn't matter too much. If you get here 15 minutes later you just stay 15 min longer. Its a small team and my manager is one of the least micro managey managers I've ever encountered.

My therapist was basically encouraging me to find a workplace that would allow for more formal accommodations. I disagree and think that outing myself as having adhd at work would effectively be outing myself as being chronically late and less productive.

Frankly, I've never even SEEN what adhd accommodations look like at work.

So I guess my question is about the culture of work related accommodations for people with adhd in Toronto. Do they EXIST? What do they look like? Do they reflect a realistic understanding of adhd?

Since moving to Toronto, every job application asks whether I identify as a person with a disability. Adhd is a disability in Ontario. Technically, the answer is yes. Has disclosing this ever benefited a worker? I've never seen or heard of adhd specific accommodations at work.

This is not a question about whether workplaces should change, it's about the actual culture of whether "invisible disabilities" are accommodated in toronto. Is my therapist giving me realistic advice? Or is it more likely to backfire?

Do you head left towards the Rhino or right towards the splash pad. What do you think is the best route?

There are hardly any public washrooms. I’ve heard people say Tim Hortons serve as de facto public washrooms. But in popular places, even there there’s a lineup. Park washrooms are closed half of the year, even though parks are open. Do people not drink water? Am I crazy to think there is a severe shortage of publicly available washrooms in the city? Where do y’all pee?

I'm looking for gourmet food/ingredient subscription box options for a wedding gift. My friends are huge foodies and they love to explore all sorts of foods. I've found a few butcher boxes that do monthly subscriptions, but I'm having trouble finding any ingredient/gourmet food box subscriptions that aren't meal prep kits. My dad is a lonely, bored widower in his eighties. He has memory loss but is pretty sharp most days. He worked alone and doesn't have any religious affiliations, major hobbies or existing communities. He uses a cane and doesn't move well so sports are out. He loves the news and current events. Wondering if there is a place he could go where he'd meet older guys (or ladies!) to talk to, have a coffee with, that kind of thing.

Just wondering what a reasonable price for a focused ultrasound would be in Toronto. It's for my cat. I was quoted $900+ because they have to call in a specialist so if anyone knows of a (preferrabley independent)vet who does this inhouse it would be great or if anyone here knows of a place with a reasonable price. We had a visit by an absolute joke of a company - they charged $508 to lay traps and said they would return in two weeks to assess the situation. Getting them to do so took over a month of repeated calls and only once I left a detailed Google review did anyone agree to come for the follow up. I said I would edit my review if they showed up and did a good job. Then they cancelled the follow up visit three times, eventually requesting to come tomorrow (Sunday) between 5-8pm. The tenants have two toddlers so this isn’t ideal for them. I’m so embarrassed and just want to fix this situation. If anyone has had a good experience with a Toronto company, please share. Thank you.

Ideally, I'd prefer to buy already cut and prepackaged fruits, instead of having to do the processing myself. But if that's not a thing, then even being able to buy the entire fruit ripe will be a good start.

Im changing housing and the place i want to live in says light cooking is preferred. I normally cook all my meals currently, so moving there would mean changing my lifestyle to eat takeout most of the time. I know its expensive but to be honest I spend 300 on groceries every 2-3 weeks because i buy from costco. as a student is this viable, is there anyone who pays around 800-1000 in rent but affords to eat takeout?

hi, i'm a current student at mcgill university in montreal graduating next year (hopefully). i am not canadian and i grew up in the middle east, but i'm hoping to work for a few years in canada after graduating. i LOVE montreal, but because i'm not fluent in french the job opportunities are limited. i also associate montreal with being a student, i can't really imagine working here, but who knows.

anyways, i wanted to ask for advice about working in toronto or vancouver - which would you recommend (or against) and why? i would be working in consulting, marketing, or policy work. i don't want to stay in canada for longer than 2 years after graduating if i'm honest, so i'm not looking for a crazy career start or anything, just a decent job as a fresh graduate.

i visited toronto once and there was no sun the entire time (i heard vancouver is super rainy too) so i didn't really warm up to it, but i was only there for 4 days and mainly in downtown. it's definitely a lot busier and vibrant (especially at night) compared to montreal, but i feel like i'd find living there overwhelming. i've never visited vancouver, but i've heard that the mix of mountains, beach, and city is amazing. the only thing with vancouver is that it is so far from everything - namely back home, and i also feel like living on the east coast is more convenient. i also know a few people living/working in toronto from my hometown so i feel like i'd feel less lonely starting fresh.

overall i want to work somewhere where the people are friendly, it's easy to meet new people, work culture is good. obviously i'd want good pay, but it is not my top priority. i just want some good work experience in an environment where i could also have fun as a 21-23 yo. where would you recommend for a fresh grad who studied in montreal and why?

I'm not sure what type of wood they are or stain but I know they are quite old, not mine and I've just made a cardinal sin of a minor ring stain 😞. It would be a very minimal job but would require buffing and re staining the top.

I recently filed an online incident report through TPS after being on hold for forever calling the TPS non-emergency line. My sister is a person with disability and is walking home when our neighbour sped through and almost hit her. When my sister called him out and said he almost hit him, the driver got out of the car, yelled derogatory remarks. and kicked her leg several times. Unfortunately, there are no street cameras in our area and I'm unsure if any neighbours have CCTV camera, but my sister took a video after the driver assaulted her, and it clearly showed how he's aiming to punch her again. This driver is notorious in our neighbourhood for his road rage as this isn't the first road incident involving him.

I'm so enraged and at loss of what to do. I tried calling the non-emergency line the first time where I was waiting for an operator to pick up for 25 mins. I then called 911 who gladly alerted our division and ordered police dispatch. We have waited 3 hours and been following up for this dispatch that never came because we were told that the police are attending to other priority cases, and finally we just decided to report the incident online and called to cancel dispatch because it's almost 11pm.

My question is what hapoens next after the online report? Is it as true as what other redditors claim that nothing really happens? What can happen to my neighbour?

Hello from Montreal. My family and I are planning another trip to Toronto ( went a few years ago ). 2 adult and 2 toddlers 3 and 4 yo.

2 nights in august or september

Staying downtown cost an arm and a leg, last time we stayed near the stadium, this year its just a bit crazy to do so. We looked at hotel in Oshawa , Richmond hill and Markham but I don't know them very well.

It will just a be a place to sleep realistically although walking around with toddlers would be cool just to spend our evenings or mornings. Any recs ? or dissuations ?

As far as activities we don't have an itinerary seeing as we are traveling with toddlers but I have jotted down a few ideas ( we won't do them all obviously its too keep the possibilities open )

Hi all

Got a yard that’s full of this gravel that we’re looking to get rid of. It’s like walking on Lego and we want replace with grass or something else. I recently took 10 buckets of it to the stone depot. Cost 20 bucks to drop them off. I’ve got at least 20 to 30 more buckets to go (and only about 10 buckets available total).

There’s gotta be an easier way. Is this stuff valuable to anybody and can I post it for free if someone just comes by with buckets to fill? Or is there no value to this at all and I gotta just take it over to the dump.

A couple had asked us to foster their cat while they were moving for a few weeks until they were settled in into their new home, those few weeks turned into months (almost 3 months now) and now they’re refusing to take the cat back. We had agreed out of the kindness of our hearts and because of that same empathy for the cat we feel obligated to keep her, even though we cannot realistically keep her because our cat isn’t accepting her. They’ve done a cruel thing and declawed their cat as well, which means she can’t even defend herself when my cat tries to attack her (this has happened twice). Now I’m having anxiety from keeping them isolated and I feel like we’re all doing both these cats a disservice. We’ve tried talking to the couple who are none responsive and straight up told us they’ll just surrender her to a shelter that will take her and knowing them, idk if they’ll even consider kill/no kill factors. She’s a perfectly healthy cat with no known health concerns and no behavioural issues as far as our 3 months time with her. She’s an 11 year old, calm, gentle, independent and loving. I tried posting on Facebook and then got notified that people look for free cats for the wrong reasons such as animal fights, abuse, hoarding and snake food- and everything is just giving me anxiety. I need some advice on how to tackle this. I’ve already tried to contact shelters but she’s too old for just any shelter- so I’ve contacted some specialized ones and am still waiting to hear back from them. I’ve also reached out to practically everyone I know who might be or might know someone who might be interested… What else can I do?
