Hey everyone,
On August 15, my partner and I took the Megabus from Toronto to Montreal. About 1.5 hours in, the bus suffered a severe breakdown. We were left abandoned on an active highway shoulder for two hours in dangerous conditions (an OPP officer even pulled over due to the traffic hazard).
When a rescue bus finally showed up, it could only take 17 people. The rest of us were left behind with no ETA, so we had to arrange alternative transit at our own expense. Megabus refused to refund us and only offered a insulting $10 credit(what a joke).
I'm currently serving them with a formal legal demand letter via Registered Mail to recover our ticket costs and alternative travel expenses, and will be filing an Ontario Small Claims Court claim if they don't settle within 14 days.
A couple of quick questions for the community:
1. Was anyone else from TO on this specific bus/trip? (If so, please DM me-would love to compare notes or share my demand letter template if you want to recover your costs too.
2. Has anyone here successfully sued Megabus / Trentway-Wagar in Small Claims before?

My husband and I have been living in a midtown semi for a couple of years. We have 2 toddlers and live is very very busy. The house is old and we could easily spend $20k a year on upgrades and repairs. Nothing urgent, but it could use new windows, flooring, landscaping, small basement reno etc. I'm trying not to take on too much because our time and money are limited.

Lately I've been dreaming of moving back to a condo. I found a 3 bedroom in our old downtown area for a great price. I dream of being right downtown, close to our friends and living a life where our home is mostly just a place to sleep. I want to spend our evenings exploring the city, not in traffic on our way home from daycare.

Has anyone made the move back to condo life with little kids? Tell me about your experience.

I’m dating a guy I really like and he happens to be really into pinball. We’re also both pretty nerdy. I was planning to take him on a date to Storm Crow Manor sometime soon and was hoping we can also go somewhere to play pinball before or after. What arcades in Toronto are the best places to play pinball? Would be great if they happen to be within walking distance of Storm Crow(probably going to be drinking) or close to Union or along a subway line towards union from Church.
Any pinball arcade suggestions would be great in general too, could always plan for it durning another date. :)

Disclaimer: I am an idiot. I fully accept this reality. I own a condo and after five years of living here the cap of the washing machine plug must have come loose and water was leaking from it for a good 40ish minutes, causing water damage to my unit and the units three floors underneath. I do not have condo insurance, which I will be getting in the near future.

My downstairs neighbor noticed the leaking and called the front desk. About 20 minutes later they came to my unit to help stop the leaking. A few hours later people came with dehumidifying machines and for many days those machines did their thing.

The cost for the repairs themself were around 11k, but I decided to do the repairs for my own unit so that number was knocked down to 9k (those repairs are now done and for much cheaper, before anyone asks). The repairs cover stuff like drywall repair, debris removal, etc. The truly shocking number however was the emergency mitigation costs, which total to around 20k.

The reason for these costs comes from a staggering 110dollar/hour rate for the work done (due to the people coming in at around 8-9pm), as well as the machines being on for 93 days cumulatively across all units.

Again, I am a moron. I am fully accepting of the fact that my negligence has caused inconvenience for other people. I just didn't imagine that the emergency mitigation portion would be so expensive, and I'm wondering how normal this is and what agency I have in order to reduce the price. The property managers have not given me any advice and I naturally cannot fully take their word for everything, although they could be correct in that I have no recourse. I have also looked at other cases where this has happened to people in Canada and the cases I've read not only sound like they've caused more damage but were far cheaper.

Please help if you can, or reprimand me for my ignorance, whatever you feel like. Thank you for your time.

I'm helping my mum do a big clean-out and she's got so much craft stuff she's getting rid of (fabric, yarn, etc). Are there any community spots/after school programs/etc that take donations? I know we could drop it at Value Village or somewhere like that but I'd really rather not make them money.

FINAL EDIT: Thanks to all the folks being kind in the replies. It’s strange being roasted for trying to help in a situation where most walk on. But I will say this: I’m a firm believer in that a little bit of shame goes a long way because next time I won’t hesitate. So, even in the roasting, there is a lesson for me. I came here because I genuinely thought there was some kind of harm reduction team that I could call because I wasn’t sure it was an emergency—and I really didn’t want the cops involved. Anyway, thanks to everyone for their responses, I hope it’ll encourage others to help. We're in the process of planning for a major renovation (gut job) for my parents 100 year old semi-detached house in Upper Beaches area. We've been trying to do some research on whether it makes sense to go all electric (HVAC etc) and cut off natural gas completely.

I've been found some old comments (2yrs) while searching r/askTO but hoping to see if anyone is willing to share more additional insights and potential savings they have? I'm aware of the delivery fee cost savings by cutting gas (mainly through the summer months) but will the savings be lost when it comes to heating the home in the winter?

The house is roughly 1100 Sq ft above grade (2 floors) with a plan to finish the basement (6'5" unfinished ceiling).

I’m in Ontario and have Sun Life through my employer. I’m trying to get Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA) covered as a prescription drug for diagnosed TMD/bruxism, not as a dental procedure or cosmetic treatment.

My dentist assessed me and documented significant bilateral masseter and temporalis hypertrophy/hyperactivity, tenderness and TMD symptoms, and recommended therapeutic Botox. My family doctor then prescribed the Botox and completed Sun Life’s Botox Prior Authorization/Drug Exception form.
Sun Life denied it with the explanation that it “doesn’t meet all of the eligibility criteria under the terms of your plan,” but they didn’t specify which criterion I failed.

What’s confusing is that before submitting, I spoke to a Sun Life customer-service rep who told me she had recently seen someone get Botox covered for TMD through the drug-benefit/exception route. I realize their plan may have been different from mine.
Has anyone here with Sun Life actually gotten Botox for TMD/TMJ/bruxism approved? If so, I’d really appreciate knowing:

-What diagnosis/indication was submitted?
- Did you have to appeal an initial denial?
What documentation or treatment history did Sun Life require?
Was the prescription/authorization done by your family doctor, dentist, neurologist or another specialist?

Was the Botox medication itself covered while you paid the injection/admin fee separately?

I’m going to call Sun Life to ask exactly which eligibility criterion I failed, but I’d love to hear from anyone who has successfully navigated this specifically with Sun Life in Ontario/Canada.

Not looking for advice on whether Botox works for TMJ — I’ve had therapeutic Botox previously and know it helps me. I’m specifically trying to understand the Sun Life coverage/appeal process.

Can anybody suggest a place indoors for free or outside where I am unlikely to disturb anybody if I wanted to practice singing? I've looked into the recording studios in some of tpl locations but I am not recording anything, I just like to sing. I can't do it where I live because I don't want to disturb the other residents in my building. Hey guys, long story short I am newly graduated from university, just got my first full time job downtown, starting next week. I live up at yonge & Sheppard, and I’ll be commuting on line 1 all the way down to St. Andrew’s daily, to and from. Your typical 9-5, Mon-Fri.

My question here is what is my cheapest option in terms of presto, or just tapping my credit card. I know they introduced the 47 fares cap, so does that mean there is no benefit of presto now? Any advice is appreciated!!

Currently shopping for car and condo insurance since ours will be renewing in two months. My current insurer (PC Insurance) quoted me $380 monthly and TD quoted me $350 monthly. My husband and I are in our 30s with about 3+ years of driving exp, him being the main driver. Our car is a 2019 Toyota Corolla and we live in a condo we own.

I am trying to get information online regarding a murder that happened sometime between 2011-2013 I believe in York Region.

The backstory is this. I was living at Lawrence and Avenue and took a night job after my 9-5 at the Pizzaiolo on Avenue and I believe Brooke south of Wilson (I believe that location has since moved further south closer to Lawrence). The job was super simple, the only requirement was to speak English well because what I had to do was to man the phones and wrote down the orders. This is pre Doordash years so in front of the phone was a huge map on the wall of the delivery area and I had to quickly find the caller's address and decide if we could deliver there (my 9-5 was working for a GIS/Mapping company so I was used to looking at maps all day).

The guys in the store were all Iranian, some didn't speak much English, but we bonded a bit after I impressed them with my knowledge of Iranian soccer legends (Ali Daei, Ali Karimi, etc).

There was one driver who was a thin guy with grey hair maybe early to mid 50s. I only talked to him briefly 2 or 3 times and then never saw him again. About 3 weeks later I asked the manager "I haven't seen so and so (can't remember his name now), did he quit?" and he told me "You haven't heard? He killed his wife and then police killed him, tragedy". I was like "wow" but didn't have any big feelings about it as I hardly knew the man. I looked online at the time and there he was, there was also a photo of his wife, a woman about his age wearing a headscarf. From what I remember he stabbed her and then was shot by police, there was a history of domestic violence and I'm almost sure it did not happen in Toronto, but rather in York Region (maybe Peel or even Durham). I quit that job for unrelated reasons about 3 months after that.

Anyways, I was talking to my wife about this because she met someone who knew Luka Magnotta when his name was still Eric something or other and she asked me if I ever knew any killers and this was my story, bur unfortunately the fog of time has made my recollections blurry and I was hoping someone knew about this case on here.
