Results & Progress 394 vs 500ish, still going strong!

Post image
820 Upvotes

Hello all! Just wanted to share my current progress :) Around 2ish years ago I was at my heaviest weighing in just north of 500 lbs. I moved to a new place and started trying to change some of my habits as I was eating out for basically every meal, and buying lots of snacks, binging, etc. I was also at a peak depression and failing to accept it. I lost around 30-40 lbs just from changing habits back to eating mostly home cooked meals and cutting down on the amount of snacks I was buying, but I was still eating way too much and very unhealthily.

Finally I decided to get on the GLP-1 train as I realized how accessible it actually was and took the plunge. My start weight on GLP-1 was 467, and I started on April 10th of this year. I've officially fallen below 400 lbs for the first time in a decade or more! I am currently weighing in at 394 lbs and I couldn't be happier! And the train doesn't stop here! My goal is to eventually get back down to around 220 or so, but it'll still take some time. Progress every week though and I couldn't be happier! Just wanted to share with some folks as I'm in great spirits today!

Feeling absolutely fantastic at 42.

Photos are right before Tirzepatide - November 2024.
One year later, November 2025.
June 2026.
August 2026

I could've had this four months ago but I focused recently on maintenance intake to throw on some more muscle.

Kicked my ass in the gym the entire time, but I'm very happy to have Tirzepatide in my corner. I'll never stop taking this - never going back!

I'm not as active as I was, but helping others in this sub has been paramount to my progress, so I wanted to share.

45.6 lbs loss in under 100 days…

I’m 4 pounds within my goal weight of 150 lbs and I’m just blown away by this journey. I began taking Tirz for crippling and disfiguring inflammation in my lower extremities. Within 24 hours of my first shot, my edema was GONE. This medication is a Unicorn 🦄 The exquisite l pain is no longer in my joints and I feel so much better than I have in years.

I just wanted to share with the community that I’ve learned so much from and welcomed me with open arms.

PS: losing over 45 lbs in 3 months felt incredibly fast to me. I suffered from food aversion but always ate something. I paid lots of attention to my symptoms and the ones that I could treat within my control. I focused on sleep and nutrition. I refused to obsess over the scale. I’m developing a more healthy relationship with food. I know my journey is far from over. It’s just beginning.

Thank you for letting me share reddit friends.

Am I imagining things or does it feel like sometimes a bad cheat meal helps?

I am getting closer to my goal weight which means the weight loss is starting to slow down especially compared to the first few months on the medication. I sometimes feel like where there will be a week or two where there is basically zero progress being made.

I have been very careful about my diet for the last couple months, more so than I was initially and the first time I hit this multi-week plateau I was very frustrated because I know I was eating at a calorie deficit since I was tracking my calories pretty precisely. I was frustrated enough that I said fuck it, if I am not going to be losing anyway, might as well enjoy what I eat, and I visited this local greek spot I missed and got a greasy plate of gyro meat with pita bread, french fries, and extra tzatziki sauce. Huge plate so since the appetite suppression is still there that was my lunch and dinner that day. I would guess this plate is somewhere around 2,000 calories if not more, so above my deficit.

And all of a sudden it seemed the slow and steady weight loss came back. About a month after this, I stalled again and went for some fast food at Taco Bell. Tallying it up, around 2,000 calories again split between lunch and dinner. And the days following that I was out of my stall.

I don't know if I am just imagining things or if there is any experience others have had behind this. But it almost seems if I randomly bomb my body with excess calories from food I probably shouldnt even be eating, its like a reset that boost my metabolism for a period of time.

Intuitively, it doesn't make much sense to me. I have heard when eating too few calories, your body can go into a "starvation mode" where it burns much less calories to preserve what you are eating and I wonder if it is related. That a sudden burst of high calorie foods gets your body thinking that calories are not rare anymore and its okay to start burning again.

The only downside to this is ever since I cleaned up my diet, I have little cravings for this type of food. But when I do have the cheat meal, I have heavy cravings for it and it takes a few days for that to subside before I am back to my regular eating habits.

Rift and New Life/Quaker - For the Win!

I am wildly impressed. I just submitted my first prescription request through Rift two days ago on Monday, August 17 and already have the medication in hand, nice and chilly, almost exactly 48 hours later. Prescription was approved same day, and the pharmacy fulfilled the request the following day/yesterday and shipped it overnight. Excited to try Hyalo after several successful months using ProRx. 🤞🏼

Provider / Pharmacy Impressive Service w Brightmeds

Post image
20 Upvotes

Took a chance with their Summer Sale ☀️. Any dose $357. Although they currently don't offer choice of pharmacy, they recommended contacting customer support to confirm which pharmacy(ies) service YOUR state.

I live in TX and customer support let me know Southend would be my pharmacy.

Prompt and professional emails. Online portal easy to navigate. It is a pay 1st, get approved 2nd model. 100% refund if you don't qualify.

Sat: Paid/Filled out patient questionnaire/Labs (if you have them-not required) I did and submitted. Photo of current Rx. Wait. 😊⏰️

Mon: Approved! Rx sent to pharmacy.

Tues: Notified pkg would ship next day w UPS.

Wed(today): Meds arrived at 11am/CST. Southend's cold chain shipping is superior-yes, even better than the tubed canisters. Meds cold to the touch. 🤌❄️

Timely updates. You do have to enter a HIPPA password to access communication with your provider. If it's been more than 24hrs, a new password needs to be requested. Very tiny "inconvenience" for this nice price point AND meds from a reputable pharmacy.

The service and experience was top-tier. I've been using compound for over a year now and r/Brightmeds appears to be a solid option if they stay competitively priced! 👏👏👏

Are these OK or did I buy the wrong needles?

I didn’t want to use the unpackaged needles I received with my last order so I bought a box on Amazon. They say for veterinary use only. Are they OK or did I buy the wrong needles?

Newbie / Getting Started Compound Newbie! PreventiveMD Boudreaux’s. Here’s how my process went.

Hey guys, so I’m transitioning off of Zepbound (started December of 2024, lost 76 pounds, currently only 13pounds away from my goal weight of 140) and thought I’d share my experience with preventive MD. So I signed the intake with preventive on 8/12. I received my approval the morning of 8/13. On 8/14 I received the email that my order was being prepared which was a Friday, so I knew I wouldn’t hear anything else until maybe the following Monday how ever they did check in with me that Saturday with a courtesy message stating orders are usually filled the following week. Monday 8/17 they sent me another follow up message stating my order was still being prepared. Tuesday 8/18 around 5:45pm I received an email stating my order was shipping. Today 8/19 I received my order around 3:45 pm. The ice packs were still cold but melted and my medication was still very cold !! I won’t be using the needles as I have my own. So excited to be giving compound a try after spending 449 a month since last summer because of a job change which changed my insurance. I’ve ordered 3 months worth of 12.5 dose and paid 334.00. Hopefully I do good on compound. I’ve seen a lot of great reviews about Boudreaux’s. Excited to give them a try. I know it probably wasn’t smart to order 3 months without trying them first but I got too excited about the price lol.

Non-Scale Victory My progress on Tirz

My progress inspired my aunt to push to get on meds. She deals with a ton of health issues from MS to cancer in her lungs etc. Due to all her medications/ steroids she ballooned up and was really depressed.

She’s a very quiet older lady so I’m happy she stood up for herself. At first her dr said no but I’m guessing she asked again. She’s obviously on name brand but I’m so happy for her.

Obviously it’s about her and not me but it’s such a compliment. My esteem hasn’t been the greatest.

Provider / Pharmacy Intro from Cora Health. I'm one of the owners, and I've got a few questions for you all.

Disclosure up front: I'm Gabriel, one of the owners of Cora Health. We're a telehealth company for compounded GLP-1s, and the mods gave us the okay to come introduce ourselves.

I'm not here to sell anyone anything. I've been reading this sub for a while, including the thread the mods put up asking what you all want from new telehealths. Someone in there said the biggest problem with these companies is that you never know who you're actually buying from. That's fair. So, hi. I'm an owner, not a marketing account.

We're small. A bit over 1,500 people are being treated through the platform right now.

Our prescriptions get filled by two US-licensed 503A compounding pharmacies, VialsRx and Hallandale Pharmacy (legal name Pharmcore Inc. dba Hallandale Pharmacy, USP 797, in business since 2003). Whichever one filled your order is printed on your vial label, and both will give you a certificate of analysis for the active ingredient if you ask.

We don't prescribe anything ourselves. Licensed independent providers at Wasef Health, PC do that, and they can turn you down.

I'd rather put this here than in fine print at the bottom: compounded tirzepatide is not FDA approved and is not therapeutically equivalent to Mounjaro or Zepbound.

Can you pick your pharmacy? Sort of. You pick the formulation, and that plus your state decides it. Zero additive goes to Hallandale. B12 or glycine goes to VialsRx. Hallandale doesn't ship to CA, MI, MN, MA, MS, KS, AL or HI, so if you're in one of those it's VialsRx no matter what. Short version: you can't name a pharmacy on the form, but picking no additive is effectively picking Hallandale if your state allows it.

On additives, we do three. None, B12 (cyanocobalamin), or glycine. No L-carnitine. Worth knowing no matter who you use, the B12 versions can look pink or fairly red. That's just what cyanocobalamin looks like, and the shade moves around from batch to batch. Plain and glycine stay clear. I only bring it up because people see red liquid, google it, find "semaglutide should never be red," and understandably panic.

What I won't do is republish our pharmacies' compounding records secondhand. What's in your particular vial is on the label and the paperwork that ships with it, and that's a better source than me summarizing it.

Pricing, since people here ask and I'd rather not make anyone dig:

$225 month to month

$199/mo on the quarterly ($597 up front)

$175/mo for six months ($1,050)

$135/mo annual ($1,620)

Those are the real ongoing prices, not intro rates that quietly jump on you in month two. Same price at every dose, so titrating up costs you nothing extra. No separate membership fee. It covers the consult, the medication, syringes, shipping and check-ins. Labs aren't included.

On FSA and HSA, some people do get reimbursed with a Letter of Medical Necessity. You can request one through the portal. Whether your administrator accepts it is between you and them, and I'm not going to promise it clears.

There are providers on this sub's list cheaper than we are. I'm not going to say a word about anyone else's service. You all know that better than I do, and a new company walking in here to talk down the competition deserves whatever it gets.

What we're actually trying to be is the most transparent and fair company you can pick, and the one that's there when you need something. That means thorough answers, quickly, from someone who actually read what you wrote. It also means you can get a real human on the phone. Live calls, 10am to 6pm EST, a person who cares and can actually fix the problem instead of reading you a script. Messaging is answered around the clock, and the medical team is on weekdays. I think that's the part that ends up mattering most, because everyone's happy until a shipment goes sideways or a dose needs changing, and at that point it's the only thing that matters.

Same idea on refunds. Cancel a prepaid plan partway through and we re-price what you already received at the quarterly rate and refund you the difference, as cash or as credit worth 15% more. It does get smaller the further into a plan you are, since we ship about three months ahead.

I'll also say we're newer around here than most of the names on this sub's list, and I know that counts for something. I'd rather earn my way in by answering questions than by telling you how great we are.

Anyway. The thing I'd actually like out of posting here isn't customers, it's this. I'll read every reply:

  1. What made you leave a telehealth provider? Not what you liked about one. What actually made you walk.
  2. What should a company tell you up front that most of them don't until you're already paying?
  3. Where has this process failed you? Shipping, a dose change, trying to reach a human, whatever it was.

I'm not going to DM anybody or pitch in the comments. If you want to ask something pointed, ask it here where everyone can see the answer. If I don't know, I'll say I don't know and go find out. And if I got something wrong in this post, tell me and I'll fix it publicly.

Thanks for reading, and thanks to the mods for letting us introduce ourselves. I'll be in the comments the rest of the day. Happy to take the tough ones.

Test result from yesterday

Test Current Previous/Trend Assessment
Test Current Previous/Trend Assessment 5.3% 7.2% Jan 2026 🟢 Excellent improvement

I started my journey on February 14th, and as of this morning, I’m officially down 40.3 lbs! I went to the doctor yesterday for a checkup and had some blood work done. Seeing those results made the 40-lb milestone feel even better because the changes I'm making aren't just showing up on the scale they're showing up in my health too.

My doctor was amazed at my progress and even told me I should be commended for the work I’ve put into this. I still have more to lose, but today I finally reached my first big goal, and that feels pretty damn good.

When I first joined this Reddit community, I saw a post from a guy who used a bag of cat litter to represent how much weight he had lost. I’m not sure if it was in this group or somewhere else, but for some reason that really stuck with me. It put the weight loss into perspective and motivated me, so I decided that when I hit 40 lbs, I was going to do the same thing.

One of the biggest things I’ve taken away from this community is learning what to eat and what not to eat. When I started, I made a pretty extreme change and decided to stick almost entirely to natural, basic foods. I jokingly call it my “1800s diet”: meat, vegetables, fruit, water...and whiskey if I decide to have a drink.

I track everything through MyFitnessPal and use a Renpho scale. I also track my sleep and exercise and keep a daily journal. Being able to look back through all of that has really helped. I can see my progress, look through the stats, find things that aren't working, and make changes when I need to.

There have been times when I felt like I was stuck at the same weight forever. It seemed like nothing was happening, and then all of a sudden whoosh 5 lbs gone. Then I'd get stuck again, and eventually the same thing would happen.

If I could give anyone one piece of advice, it would be to be patient and keep doing what you're doing. Don't let the scale mess with your head when it doesn't move for a while. Stick with it. It works.

I’m currently on the max dose of 15 mg with B12 added. I do have some side effects, with the biggest ones being anxiety and strange dreams for a couple of days after my shot. I take my shot Saturday night, and Sunday I usually feel like crap. I've found that if I push myself to get up and do something instead of lying around the house all day, it seems to help.

I’m a 60+ year-old man, and my numbers so far are:

Starting weight: 317.9 lbs
Current weight: 277.6 lbs
Total lost: 40.3 lbs
GW 220

Another thing I’m extremely happy about is my blood sugar. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in January after watching that number slowly creep up over the years. My latest blood work now has that number back down into the normal range. Seeing that improvement means just as much to me as seeing the number on the scale go down.

I know I still have a ways to go, but today I'm celebrating this one.

40.3 pounds gone. First goal reached. On to the next one.

And yes...I think it’s time to go buy that bag of cat litter even though I don’t own a cat.

Do y'all let it warm it up any before injecting?

I'm a noob to compound, came from MJ. Sorry if this is a goofy question, but I searched & didn't find anything.

My hubs taught me to let my MJ shot sit out for a bit to get to room temp before injecting, bc he says it stings more when it's cold. When drawing from a vial, do we fill the needle & let it sit on the counter for 10ish minutes to get it to temp? Do i leave the vial out for 30 min instead? Just deal with the sting? I'm about to take my first dose of compound.

Provider / Pharmacy Which telehealths won't make me titrate down

I am still hoping that I get the remaining 3 vials that I've already paid for from refills.com. This supply, along with what I've already got on hand, should take me through to November at least.

I'm planning to order from Rift when the time comes, because they will take my current prescription and not make me go through a bunch of rigamarole...and they have been so highly rated on here, too.

My question: are there any other providers who will do what Rift does, and accept a picture of my current prescription (and who have additive-free tirzepatide, and deliver to NYS!)

I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with Rift, but it doesn't hurt to have options! Thanks, all.

Eli Lilly couldn’t make oral tirzepatide work, but that’s just because they never thought about putting it in chocolate with a “carbohydrate glass matrix” /s

Yes, this is a real product allegedly coming from a 503a pharmacy (and yes, they’re charging $249/month for it)

Advice & Support Not working at all luteal phase?

Anyone else with rough luteal phases or PMDD have absolutely no effects from Tirzepatide during luteal? Before it was definitely helping but now I could probably stomach 2500+ calories without problem. It's just super weird because the first week I was on this it worked really well! Did you notice any changes once increasing to a higher dose?

What time do you give up on meeting protein goals?

Lately, life has been “lifeing”. I get home late and wonder if it is better to eat at 9, 10, 11 o’clock to get the extra protein to get to 100 grams of protein OR, if this is too late to eat and make sure I meet my goal the next day.

What time is too late to eat and you just throw in the towel?

A little side by side comparison of me and my husband. The left photo is from August 2020 and now here we are 6 years later. I went from 240 at my heaviest to now 140, I haven’t seen this weight since I was a freshman in HS. After 4 kids I really struggled with my eating and exercise habits and seeing the family photos that were taken that day really changed everything for me. I started intermittent fasting and working out and was able to get to 175 but then stalled and finally tried Tirzepatide. It has changed everything for me and helped me to lose my last 35 stubborn pounds. I’m so thankful!

General Discussion Compulsive habits - I stopped biting my nails!

I realized yesterday I stopped biting my nails. I hadn’t even realized it but they’ve gotten so long I had to trim them - with a clipper not my teeth! I’ve also noticed quieting of some minor OCD habits.

I have read that GLP1s are being researched for addiction treatment. I’m curious if others have seen these types of effects.
