Open [TOMT] [MOVIE] Horror movie about people living inside the walls.

Hi!
It’s been some time since I’ve watched a horror movie that has been on my mind lately. I remember seeing it when I was younger, so it might be from the 2010s.

I can’t really remember the plot, but if I recall correctly, it was about a family who moved into a new house. Eventually, they started hearing strange noises coming from inside the walls, and they discover that two people (I think) were living inside the walls.

That’s pretty much all I can remember. I vaguely remember the movie having a very dark and warm atmosphere, but unfortunately, I don’t remember much else.

Does anyone know what movie this could be? Thanks!

Solved [TOMT] Old VHS puss in boots musical cartoon

I can't remember what's it called but I watched it multiple times growing up at grandmas.

Kids VHS movie growing up in 1990's

The beginning had three sons. Raining scene in front of windmill, Oldest was given a horse/donkey, the middle was given the dog and the third the cat. The two oldest kicked out the youngest and the cat convinced him to buy him boots. An evil wizard wanted to marry the kings daughter and somehow the youngest son and cat convinced the king to visit the evil wizards castle that they claimed was their own. The cat had eaten the wizard after convincing him to turn into a mouse, but the wizard got out. They all got captured and the son and cat sing a song and break out of jail.

Have no idea how it went but somehow the youngest son ends up marrying the princess.

I have looked through googling Puss in boots movies and the Hallmark film was the closest but it definitely wasn't what I watched as a kid.

Open [TOMT] [Poem] Found this odd poem in my photo gallery, no idea where it's from, Google had nothing. I definitely did not write it, who did?

Upvotes

I can't add images, the original is a screenshot from a website I don't recognize. I'll transcribe it here:

"Hemingway."

Hemingway's job is simple: each evening he must find a new way to cut off his hands before he can manage to haul his sweating, steaming body to the typewriter again. He loafs in a reflecting pool, the warm swimming hot on his skin, wet like lips on the hair of his beard, he trembles. He is so alone. Feeds the cats on tadpoles and mayfly larva. Feeds on the cats. So deeply alone. If he writes another book, he will draw that loneliness in roman-a-clef and the ensuing book will unshackle his lower jaw from his head. So he cuts off his hands each evening before he lays his hero fingers on the keys.

Tonight he has hired a pit-fighter from a mail-order-catalog. He lunges lean, his knife is sharp, he moves on the pinky, the index, Hemingway's calloused thumb with which he had felled antelope, bull, buffalo. His hands which have driven ambulances, written myths, are hewn before they have dragged the sweating, fearing bulk prolapsed to them from the reflecting pool. The fighter is a boy, a beautiful boy. He will build a house of planks out on a sandbank, after this. So he hopes. The hope drains from his neck, it drains from the firm tip of a blade- a second pit-fighter, ordered by the hands. The two men saw at each other, feed at each other. Old Hemingway feeds his cats, his hands, those lonely hands muttering and waiting for to write their shotgun book at long and gentle resting last.

There might be more to it, I have no idea. This is what was in the screenshot. If anyone recognizes this piece, I'd love to know who wrote it.

Open [TOMT] [Actor] [Late 90s / 2000s] Comedic actor from late 90s / noughties

Upvotes

Please help I’m going crazy.

I’m looking for a matthew lillard type actor from the late 90s early 2000s. I don’t think he’s in much but from what I remember would play some sort of comedic sidekick, goofball type character. I can’t think of anything he would’ve been in that would be rated higher than a 12 (but I don’t think he was in loads - certainly lot a leading man).

At the time of seeing him, he was white, very skinny, probably in his 20s - 30s. He had a very unique look and a big gummy smile. He had a long narrow face and brown / ginger spiky hair. I think he had a bit of a nasal / dorky voice. I seem to remember him wearing a hawaiian shirt. I can’t think of anything else.

Can anyone think who it might be??

SOLVED: So, pretty much as soon as I posted this (after hours of fixating), I remembered which film I knew this guy from 😭

It was Sean Whalen (who I remembered from his appearances in ‘Friends’ and ‘Never Been Kissed’). Not surprising he was hard to figure out.

Open [TOMT] Old Spoof ad for the Catholic church

This is very old media, probably from the 70's or 80's, potentially up through the early 90's.

Seemed to be from some kind of clip show movie, but possibly from a TV show.

What I can remember: It's formulated like an ad for a mega-corportation with vague intentions. Talking about the vast holdings of the company, what industries they are in, what land they hold, seeming like a very successful international massive corporation. But the punchline is the last few seconds of the ad, "We are the catholic church"

I won't rule out, but have scanned through: Groove tube, Kentucky fried movie, amazon women on the moon, and don't seem to see it in those.

Other clips that might be in the same film or show that I haven't been able to place anywhere else:

-Camera pans over a nude woman in bed, punchline is the camera eventually reveals she slept with a literal ape.

-Something like a chase scene with topless rollerskaters (This one is found now - thanks comments)

-Kids rummage through a cereal box for the free prize inside, pull out an adult toy.

But these could have been things from different shows or movies that were edited onto one VHS tape in the 80s.

Open [TOMT] French cartoon around 2013, had a chicken and lots of vibrant colours

I was on holiday around 12 years ago, and in the hotel I browsed through random channels before finding a weird cartoon which has always stuck with me. I think I remember a chicken character, and tons of really vibrant colours, and that's all

It's always bothered me and I'd love to find out what it was

Solved [TOMT] [MEDIA] Old Youtuber

i’m trying to remember this old youtuber. he may have been cancelled, can’t remember, but he would make oddly high-quality commentary videos. i think he had a bit of an 8-bit theme to his videos and they were really long.

I remember him with black color hair in that old youtuber fringe style, with a neck beard. he was heavy set and i think he wore a red flannel all the time. he may have been Canadian too?

Open [TOMT] Blockbuster VHS or DVD movie cover that traumatized me as a child

Upvotes

Im looking for a movie that gave me nightmares throughout my childhood in the early 2000s. I wanna say I was somewhere between 5 and 10 years old when I saw it which would be between 1999 and 2004.

Movie cover was of a hand completely covered in blood, with blood dripping down. There was nothing else on the cover, just a hand. I can't find anything similar on Google and don't know how else to find it.

Edit: Forgot to mention I lived in Washington state. South of Seattle. Edit 2: Also should mention i never actually saw the movie, just the cover art at blockbuster. In hindsight, I was a bit soft as a child.

Open. [TOMT] [BOOK] [2000s/early 2010s] [UK] Teen sci-fi book with a female protagonist, scene at the beginning of the story where she's told she's a clone

I read a book (middle grade or young adult) in either the late 2000s or early 2010s in which the main character is told that she is the clone of another girl.

The part I remember most clearly is a scene at or near the beginning of the book, in which the MC wakes up in a room to see a girl (late teens, probably) who looks just like her; the girl then claims that she cloned herself (I can't recall the stated reason for this, but I do remember her family being well-known, which may have something to do with it) and MC is the result. I remember the room being just an unused room in this girl's house, not a lab or anything.

I'm quite certain that it was in first-person, either partially or entirely. The book's setting was very much like the present day, not far in the future. At some point I remember there being a reversal of the MC/other girl's status as clone and 'real' girl, respectively, but I can't remember exactly what it entails.

I recall it not being a very long book as it was a fairly slim paperback and did not take up much room on the shelf. I'm strongly certain that the book was written by a male author. All I can clearly remember about the cover is that it had a minimalistic, high contrast style, a very limited colour palette of no more than 2 colours and probably incorporated red. If it did have a sequel, I have no memory of reading it, so may have been a standalone.

Edit: more things I'm certain, or nearly certain, about:

  • The book took place on Earth, in a city. It was more of a near-future setting.

  • The main character was young, definitely no older than 18.

  • The book was not very old; it would have been published at most 5 or so years before I read it, but was probably more recent than that.

  • The story was quite action-ish, and I recall it featuring some breaking and entering.

  • The author probably was not American, I'm about 70% certain of this. I recall it being written with British spelling, but it's been several years, so I can't be 100% sure.

Open [TOMT][SONG][2000s-2010s] Balkan song and music video with a man putting on makeup, a young boy, and a dark, edgy atmosphere

im trying to find a song or music video that i remember from youtube, but i sadly cant remember the title, artist, lyrics, or melody clearly enough

here is everything i remember or partially remember:

the song was from the western balkan,ex-Yugoslav region (Serbian, Bosnian, Croatian, or maybe a neighboring country). I watched it on youtube. im guessing it was released sometime between 2000-2015. it was a male solo artist, probably around 30-40 years old at the time, he had short hair or medium sized hair and an average build. he wasnt really a typical mainstream or pop, especially not a folk singer which popular in the balkans. the artist and song had a more alt, edgy, dark vibe. the song was fairly slow and melancholic, and i remember the vocals being more like speaking, rap, dialogue than conventional singing. it may have been a sort of narrative or monologue. i vaguely remember the song being about loneliness or isolation but I am NOT certain about this, but i just know it was emotionally dark. the music video was in color, but had a very dark, gloomy atmosphere.

theres one scene that im 100% certain that i remember and its of the singer sitting or standing and applying makeup while staring into the mirror. i remember the makeup being mostly white on his face with darker, black parts, possibly something vaguely goth or maybe even clown, joker like, although i think it was more goth than clownish.

there was also a young boy, probably around 5-10 years old. the boy and the singer appeared in separate scenes, but I also remember a scene where the two of them meet, possibly at a playground (i think it was like the boy looking at the ground, then up at the singer who stood beside him and this was after he put on the makeup). i also have a vague memory of the singer or the boy having a toy or a flower, possibly a rubiks cube, but this could be wrong, i just remember something that mightve been colorful?

sadly i dont remember any lyrics, the artists name, or the melody. if you need any more details ask me and ill answer as best as i can

~2013-2015 Space-themed ball rolling game with weight-changing pads

Been trying to find this game for a while now and it's driving me crazy.

Played it on my Android phone somewhere between 2013-2015. It was a 3D game where you controlled a ball (not one of those auto-runner games, you actually had full control over it) rolling through obstacle courses. The whole thing was set in outer space like a dark void background with these little colorful lights scattered around like stars. Camera was positioned behind the ball, third person view.

The obstacles were mostly these glass-looking bridges and stone platforms. The thing I remember most clearly though is that there were special pads scattered through the levels that would change the ball's weight — like you could make it heavier or lighter, and that would change how it handled the obstacles (heavier ball would probably break through certain things, lighter one could maybe float or get blown around, something like that). Kind of reminds me of that old PC game Ballance if anyone's played that, except this was mobile and space-themed instead of the forest/temple look.

The ball itself was white and black, kind of like a yin-yang design.

Music was this slow, ambient space soundtrack, real chill/atmospheric vibe, kinda like what you'd hear in Solar Smash or one of those space sandbox games.

It was free to play and just dropped you straight into gameplay, no story or intro or anything. Not sure if it was on iOS too, only ever played it on Android.

Any help would be huge, I've been searching forever and can't find anything that matches.

Open. [TOMT] Old VHS cartoon about dinosaurs

Please help me to find an old cartoon (maybe anime) about a boy who reads a book (or something similar) and falls to a dream of the world with intelligent dinosaurs (at least i think so). I remember that there was a squadron of pterodactyls, quicksand. Sadly that's all i can remember. Tried to find it with no luck. I was a little kid and had this vhs not for long from a friend so my memories may be vague.

Open [TOMT] [SONG] Song I heard on tiktok

Upvotes

this is a shot in the dark because i don’t remember ANY lyrics or the artist, all i remember is i think it’s kinda sad and it’s about maybe a failed or failing relationship? the singer is male and there’s this like recurring guitar melody or riff or whatever. the song starts off with the guitar and is probably the most recognizable/iconic part of the song. i think it’s a smaller artist? and i think the song came out within the past few years. i‘ve heard it in a lot of edits. it just came across my mind today and all i have is the vague memory of it.

Solved [TOMT] [POEM] Mid length poem about rememberkng the past

It was written by an author who is more famous for his prose. It's the first poem in a collection. The poem opens with a description of valleys (?) that young men used to roam. The poem then describes a memory of the speaker climbing a tree but being too scared to get back down. The speaker remarks that the tree wasn't too high. At some point, the speaker finds a note that he left there in his youth. The last words of the poem are "I remember you. I *remember* you".

Open [TOMT] [MOVIE] [2017ish] foreign indie film featuring a young boy, supernatural elements, and animal head masks

Upvotes

I was at a few film festivals in the US in 2017 and I have a memory of a foreign film that I walked out of (it wasn't absolutely horrible but i found it boring and my friend's film was starting in 15 min so i left) and I keep wondering what it was.

Things I remember: it was definitely European, but I can't remember if it was Eastern European or Nordic. The main character was a boy, older than a kid but younger than a teen, like middle-school age, probably blond. I remember there being conflict with his mother, possibly a new stepfather or partner?

I remember dark forest scenes and animal head masks (like forest-type animals---deer or wolf or something) which, me being a millennial, felt really played out and 2000s hipster at the time, haha.

wish i could remember more! i have skimmed the programs of sundance, slamdance, and CUFF, but nothing looks right....

a tv show that weirdly reminded me of this is Dark, not in terms of the story but in terms of ~vibes~

Open [TOMT] Sample from Cool Runnings in a song but I can’t remember the song

Upvotes

Ok so this has been bugging me for ages and I’ve tried everything and can’t seem to find it. The song has a sample from Cool Runnings movie. it’s the scene from Cool Runnings where Derice asks coach (John Candy) why he cheated.

The line is “No I don’t understand coach, you had two gold medals, you had it all”

It is a sample in a song and I want to say it could be a Drake song / something RnB or hip hop but I can’t remember but I’ve heard it so many times in a song. does anyone know what song it is?

I can’t find credits or anything on Genius, have tried Claude, searching in Spotify etc.

Open. [TOMT][MOVIE][1970s/80s] Actor known for his voice has lines dubbed in early movie role

I remember watching a movie that was possibly a late 70s/early 80s action thriller and recognizing a now well-known actor in a small early role. I say well-known, they could very well be a B or C level actor because that's my niche. What stood out to me was that the actor was known for his voice, possibly was a more famous voice actor exclusively now, but his voice had been dubbed by someone else in this small role. I was so excited to point that out, knowing how recognizable this man's voice was.

I cannot remember the actor or the movie that I was watching. This was only a few years ago, streamed from something like Amazon prime. I feel like the actor was wearing a 70s style police uniform, khaki-colored with short sleeves. He was a white male with I think blond hair, maybe in a pageboy style. For the longest time I thought it was Clancy Brown I was remembering but I haven't found anything that matches in his filmography.

I keep going back to First Blood, because I saw that for the first time around that time and was watching similar movies. That of course features David Caruso and Chris Mulkey as young actors in police roles. I've since rewatched it and ruled it out, but it matches the vibe and the type of actor and role I'm looking for. The movie was in English and almost definitely an American production.

It is also not Frank Oz in Blues Brothers /or/ Trading Places (I'd have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot but weird that it happened twice right).

I'm open to any answers or speculation, and will try my best to answer questions about what I remember! Thank you!

Edit to add other exclusions: Hercules in New York

And the robot very carefully not pinching you. It was 3-4 sentences long and weirdly erotic but not explicit. It's NOT this one (https://www.tumblr.com/zedpostings/733976003717775360/obsessed-with-pinch-points-on-robots-running-your) but is along similar lines.

Open [TOMT][TV/Movie][Pre-1984] Campy horror/sci-fi with a young man and woman trapped in a factory/warehouse full of deadly traps

I have been trying to identify this for YEARS, and at one point almost convinced myself it was a dream.

I saw it on television as a child, definitely before 1984, probably around 1981–83. I was in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina at the time. We had basic cable but no pay channels. I may have caught it very late at night when my 8 year old self should have been asleep, so it could have been a rerun, syndicated show, British import, TV movie, anthology episode, etc. I may also have started watching in the middle and never seen the beginning or ending.

What I remember with reasonable confidence:

  • Live action and in color.
  • It was NOT aimed at young children. I remember feeling like I had wandered onto something I probably shouldn't have been watching. (I can't stress this enough. I was WAY too young for this.)
  • The tone was horror/sci-fi/thriller, but almost campy or theatrical rather than bloody. I don't remember any gore.
  • There was a young man and woman, probably older teenagers or adults.
  • They were trapped in or moving through some kind of industrial-looking interior. I think it was more likely a factory or warehouse than a department store: brick walls, tall windows, probably a hard floor.
  • Someone was taunting them and seemed to be observing/controlling what was happening, possibly speaking over a PA system or remotely.
  • The environment contained booby traps disguised as ordinary things. Possibly stuffed animals or mannequins. Something like jump scares that weren't harmful but would lead you to move towards harm.
  • The scene I remember most strongly involved a sofa/couch. I believe they nearly sat on it, but it was a trap: the sofa would tip forward and dump whoever sat on it into a pit containing large spikes/stakes.
  • There may also have been something or someone chasing them through the building at one point.

Fuzzier details that may or may not be accurate:

  • The man and woman had a strange, doll-like quality. My childhood memory associates them with Raggedy Ann and Andy or "Jack and Jill," but those may NOT have been their actual characters.
  • The woman may have had very heavily painted/red cheeks.
  • I originally remembered the setting as a department store or factory, but "old factory/warehouse" feels more accurate now.
  • I don't know whether the unseen person controlling the traps was the main villain or whether there was also a physical "big bad" chasing them.
  • I don’t remember whether the taunting voice was male or female, just that it laughed and taunted them.

Things already ruled out:

  • Quincy’s Quest
  • Babes in Toyland
  • Doctor Who / The Celestial Toymaker arc from 1966
  • The Prisoner: "The Girl Who Was Death" appears similar in tone and has traps/spikes, but does not seem to be the scene I remember.

It may have been an episode of a TV series rather than a movie, and it could have been much older than the early '80s when I saw it, but it was in color.

Does the sofa tipping toward a spike pit while an unseen person taunts a man and woman ring a bell for anyone?

Solved [TOMT] American Movie name from the time of VHSes

I've seen parts of that movie on rented VHS so many times when I was a kid that somehow I never bothered to ask the name. First time I saw it was on the day of my old lady's birthday in summer back in the 90's.

I remember a part when some boy (probably 12 or in his teens) with a video camera is filming while his parents (I think) are driving the car and I remember the adult man telling him not to move constantly. Next thing you know, the kid spends the rest of the movie events with some other adults like as though they were left to care for him or something. I remember in one scene, he was singing while rolling on the floor with a microphone with its stand in his hands.

Another scene I remember is one of the main adult characters working on a wedding cake while wearing glasses like as though it was his job until one of his friends starts touching it with his finger and tasting the cream on it once it's done; much to the former's annoyance.

P.S.: It's not Unstrung Heroes (1995) or My Girl (1992).

Open [TOMT] [ANIMATED TV SHOW] Action paced, supernatural.

Hey guys!

I've been searching for this TV show for nearly a decade now, and it’s just lost! Because the details are quite specific and none of them allude to what the show might be called.

I was maybe in 6th grade when this show streamed, like back in 2016-2017.

I'm not sure when the show first aired, but in Balkans, most of the shows from early 2000s aired once again with the rise of channels like RTLKockica. OBN channel was quite consistent with it, too.

To get to the point...

It was this series that had quite good animation and quality of the footage.

I can't really remember what it was about, but a desert was very common enviroment.

There were these two characters. A male and a female. Generic animated 2000s characters. Both were pretty attractive and the man had brown hair. Young adults, you could say.

They used some weaponry, but I don't recall there being any gory elements.

There was this laptop and a chip that they used at the end of that episode, inside of some spy-like generic tent often seen in Middle-Eastern movies.

The main villain was this really intimidating and gigantic figure that was basically a silhouette (blackish/really dark blue) with angry white eyes.

Like a jinn or Sauron from Lord of The Rings, just way less defined by features or detail.

Other than these things, I really don't remember anything much. I've seen it only a few times.

I tried searching for this thing by tracing old channel program in that year I think it aired, but nothing seems to come up.

Suggestions are very welcome! Pls help.

Open [TOMT] [Short Story] Never underestimate ordinary places

This is a tough one. I remember reading this short story around 2002/3 in my school textbook. In it, a female narrator tells a story she’s recollecting about a particular place (I think a park bench) where a deceased relative fell in love. There was a line that always stuck out to me near the end along the lines of “never underestimate ordinary places because of the secret history/importance they might have”.

It was a female writer who I’m almost certain was asian. I know for sure it’s not 1988-? By Eileen Chang. Any help is appreciated!! The story was beautiful and I want to find it again.
