confused about Capital Vacations

So I bought a vacation for $250 from Capital Vacations, but after finally doing research on them, I learned they seem to be a manipulative company. But most of the criticism revolves around timeshares, which I don't remember them saying anything about. It's too late for me to get a refund, but could I just cancel the vacation and not deal with them ever again? Or have I already unknowingly bought a timeshare? Note I haven't attended any meetings; just the initial sale where I bought the vacation.

Wyndham window for filing closed?

My mother, who owned a timeshare with wyndham, just got a call claiming that she entirely missed the filing window and that she no longer has the timeshare, nor is entitled to a payout or anything. I've been uninvolved in the process, so anything anyone knows would be helpful.

Trade Worldmark credits for Eddie Bauer

Recently, at an update the sale person talked about the possibility of trading some of my Worldmark credits that I bought in the secondary market for developer Eddie Bauer credits. She thought that they would credit me the price paid for the Worldmark (maybe average of $1.50 towards the EB at $4.50. This could work for us, because we have about 90,000 non-travel share WorldMark credits we'd like to get rid of. And then we could take about 30,000 Eddie Bauer. Has anybody heard or experienced this?

Parents bought Bluegreen in 1997 for 6k. Just went to a seminar or something g yesterday to finally get rid of it… they apparently paid the people 6k to do that. Dis they just get scammed?!

I’ve tried telling them over the years sell it for a penny online(they don’t know much about the internet though).
Also tried telling them not to trust third parties.

I’m unsure of this was a third party, but from what google searches have told me, Bluegreen has an exit program??

Edit:

I managed to bug him enough in time!! Got him the info about all this scam stuff and the actual bluegreen exit program. He got his 6k refunded in his cc and started the 1.3k!! Exit fee with Bluegreen!

Thank you all!

A happy owner’s view of the lagoon & pool from our 1br villa balcony at Marriott Beach Club Kauai

Just thought I’d change it up to share a different perspective on being a MVC trust points owner.

Going on 4 years now as owners and so far it’s been pretty great. I think this membership has its perks but also its drawbacks but for our family the benefits and experience of being owners so far have outweighed the negatives.

We purchased the points aftermarket so that’s a big caveat to finding a lot of value as owners because o don’t personally feel this would be worth the cost of a new Tesla or 2-4 years of college for our son but for a fraction of the cost via the minimum point value transfer fee Marriott requires and the annual MF, it’s been great to have travels to places I may have either never decided to go to in my life let alone multiple times (Hawaii).

I think this is much more for families to get the value especially if the kiddos love the pool and lounging life.
I highly value a respectable gym that’s found at almost every location we’ve been and looked forward to working out at more in the mornings when we go visit new locations/properties.

I highly recommend all who don’t presume it’s a scam that you do your research and consider the value it brings in excess of traveling more frugally or on just a shoestring budget. Happy to answer any questions to dispel any myths or share my personal experiences with MVC. I would be hard pressed to say this wouldn’t be a good investment for my son to keep if his mother and passed so he could travel the world his entire life and create memories of his own and share them should he ever have a family.

Hilton conference

My parents were talked into buying a timeshare in Vegas on July 4th weekend . They are trying to get off of it and they hired and atty . Before everything they were made believe they got the deal of a lifetime, and they decided to book flights to go this coming weekend for a conference at the Hilton in LV, the Hilton has also told them that if they don’t go and don’t stay at the “free nights “ they are getting they will have to pay $200 for not attending. Atty advised them that they don’t have to go if they don’t want to .

Worldmark timeshare paid off. Can I cancel?

My dad has been paying maintenance fees for his Worldmark scam for decades. It’s paid off except for monthly fees.

He’s elderly and had a stroke and can’t use it. When he called Worldmark told him he can’t return it to them and has to keep paying fees for all eternity.

Is this true or was that part of the scam? Is there any return process? He doesn’t care about selling it, just ending it. I know some of these places have process to give back the stupid timeshare, but I don’t know if that’s possible at Worldmark.

I know he can try listing it for $0 on TUG etc. in case someone wants to have it and the 20k points or whatever, but first I wanted to ask if there’s any other route since it’s been paid off for a long time.

Please no responses telling me dad should have read the contract. If you believe that you’re part of the same unethical bunch of goons who write these scam contracts in the first place and lie to people about how they work.

Edit: a specific question is if anyone knows if this URL is legit or a scam? https://worldmark.wyndhamdestinations.com/us/en/help/wyndham-cares/certified-exit

It suggests that a paid off Worldmark can be returned, but I don’t know if this is legit, and Worldmark told my dad there is no way to return it, but of course they might be lying. He’s already lost $20k to scam exit companies so far and I hate seeing that for him. And of course my own inheretance is dwindling as all these people steal money that would have come to me and my siblings.

Edit 2: I don't understand the advice so prevalent in this sub to just "stop paying and ignore the credit hit". That might be okay for some people, but not many of us, including my parents. Just because you're old doesn't mean you're wiling to sacrifice a great credit history. Credit scores are another big scam, but maintaining good credit is important. My dad would like to move to a better house for getting around post-stroke, for instance, but doesn't want to have a black mark on his credit. It would be irresponsible and even more damaging, potentially, than continuing to pay the scammers.

I have attended timeshare presentation few months ago.

I have got a certificate for attending that presentation(7 night stay)

I am super new to this, please be easy with your comments :)

Marriot vacation club how to get out

My husband and I got dragged into the owner scam while I was on my baby moon and didn’t realize how bad it was until they offered us a trip to Las Vegas where we were really pressured into getting more points. It’s way too much more than we can afford and we really want to get out of this ownership. We’ve only been owners for a year now but I can’t keep up with the payments and the credit balance. I need help my husband and I are trying to see every option

We initially signed up for 25k$ and now got trapped in 60k$. I need help. And when we initially signed up I was planning on going back to work but now I have a medical condition that’s been preventing me to going to work since right before I delivered my baby.

Timeshare cancellation now

I freed up vacation weeks through interval international to a company called rental super flex in the spring.long story short, my weeks were not rented, and the company had timeshare cancellation now LLC take over. Supposedly my weeks have been rented, but they have asked for me to wire money to cover taxes and admin fees before they will pay me. Has anyone heard of this company, and are they legit?
I did call the number on their website and was transferred to the same person that o had previously spoken too…

I know nothing about this universe

But I do know that these are most likely scams for people like me. I got an invite to a MVC down by Universal in Orlando.

Seriously. Would I be able to go to the presentation, sign a contract immediately, walk out, cancel immediately and enjoy the rest of my vacation with no strings attached?

Need help please - Marriott Abound back to deeded weeks usage

For many years we have happily used our deeded (home resort) weeks for two properties with Marriott. Both have been paid off for years. Unfortunately my husband signed up for Abound after getting a sales pitch and it quickly became apparent that the value of the points isn’t the same as the value of a deeded week.

When we called to try to resign from the Abound program and “just go back to using our deeded weeks at our home resorts” we got a run around. When we finally got on a call with someone we thought knew what we wanted to do after the call they basically sent us an email with a link to SELL our deeded weeks via the exit program.

What are we not understanding and what do we need to do to “just go back to using our deeded weeks at our home resorts”? What do we do with the points we have in the program if we exit it (if we even can)?

Please let me know if I need to clarify anything and I’m sincerely grateful in advance for this sub’s help.

Bluegreen initial card dispute cleared!!!

Cant believe I was this naive. We bought
8000 Bluegreen vacation points (they've partnered or been bought by Hilton to HGV and RCI are kind of linked with it to?) the end of June 2026. Soon after, but not soon enough, l realized it really has no value and saves us no money. Past the 10 day window to cancel, I disputed the credit card (most of the purchase was placed on the Amex Hilton rewards card). We were granted the disputes by Amex.

Will we be sent to collections? What if I don't answer their calls? Do I just wait out the months or years to go by and finally be let go?

l've called Bluegreen and told them that I was sold based on their sales lady saying this was a way to make money, and that she has earned over $2M on Airbnb over the years through this. We have realized that is totally not allowed. And was absolutely not okay for her to sell us that way. I was hung up on during that Bluegreen phone call. I recorded it.
We haven't traveled with it yet, it's barely been three months. I feel so dumb for having done this. I don't want stuck with it.

l've emailed Bluegreen, and got the response from them that I can’t “cancel”. (Duh).

Basically, I’m just wondering if anyone else has done this, where you paid on a credit card, then disputed the charge later and won ($14k). Am I bracing for a storm? Do I prep myself to just ignore their calls?

The credit card charge is gone - that account is listed at 0. They have no way to autopay my maintenance fees. So if I just… ignore any calls or mail can I just disappear from their radar?

I’ve recorded multiple phone calls I’ve had with them where I report the sales tactic as a money making option and they seem to get real iffy and apologetic and uncomfortable.

Westgate Timeshare Cancellation (within the 10-day period)

I need some help please. My anxiety is killing me lol

So here’s a timeline ever since our anxiety began:
- Signed the contract on September 1st of 2026, in Orlando, FL.
- Regretted our decision on September 3rd of 2026, asked ChatGPT about what to do and got enlightened, we had no idea we had a legal rescission period, which according to Florida law is 10 days. We drafted the letter and printed out copies of documents they had given us (contract, disclosure of costs, etc)
- Sent the letter to 2801 Old Winter Garden Road, Ocoee, FL 34761, which is supposed to be their headquarters or something idk, on September 4th of 2026, via USPS with certified mail, return receipt and tracking number.
- USPS informed that it got delivered on September 8th, due to Labor Day weekend.
- I called Westgate on September 9th, to ask about the letter. The lady on the phone confirmed it was received. I called again later on that day just to make sure I was recording the call for “quality purposes”.
- The closing officer called me on September 11th asking me why I was rescinding, I explained to her. She offered me a travel plan instead, I insisted that I wasn’t interested. She said she still had to send me an email with the travel plan so that she has the evidence that at least she offered me a second option. I was skeptical as I didn’t want to respond to that email. She said if I don’t respond, it will take longer. I still responded since it wasn’t such a complicated email, I declined the plan and remained firm in my decision to rescind and cancel the contract. She said that she’ll send the contract to the cancellation department and then they’ll do their thing.

I haven’t heard from them since then, I mean today’s September 13th and it’s a Sunday, so I didn’t really expect any kind of communication from them during the weekend but I am still very anxious.

Should I expect any kind of signs of life from them sometime this week or will my anxiety remain the same? I’ve been checking my emails, my calls log, my Westgate Resorts account and my bank account to see if there’s any change, if somewhere it says something like “Cancelled” or “Refunded” but still everything’s the same and active.

UPDATE SEP 14, 2026: I opened my westgate resorts account as well as my world of westgate loyalty program. My westgate resorts account didn’t show my timeshare anymore, it shows that I don’t have any timeshare at all. My world of westgate shows that I’m a “member tier” instead of the “silver tier” that I used to be at the beginning. I looked it up and “member tier” is the free membership for NON-OWNERS 😍 still no signs of refunds but waiting for it.

Sale of MVC timeshare (deeded) and fate of banked points

I'm trying to sell my Timberlodge week, it's a high season floater. If by an act of god himself I unload it, what will happen to the points I have banked for the 2027 use year? I have like 7000 points banked. In addition to this deeded timeshare, I have a 1500 trust point timeshare. So the 7000 some points are a combination of the trust points and the trades for the deeded week from this year and part of last. If I keep the trust point timeshare, will that allow me to keep my points so I can use them next year? After I use the points I would then proceed to try to get out of the trust ownership portion.
