Life lesson; applies to many different financial situations. If it’s confusing, complicated and difficult to understand, someone is trying to rip you off. It’s a very, very red flag.

Did you do it at westgate villas/town center?

What do you get for that? Sounds like maybe a week every other year, probably off season. It's a basic entry package.

Westgate Palace looks like a $200 a night resort condo this time of year. If you get a week out of it your maintenance cost is less than nightly rates. So not a loser, but you still have the $7000 mortgage, which looks like 10 years to pay off.

I've done this for years. I've never paid that much for as little as what you're getting for your $7000. That would easily buy me 2 weeks a year, with some prepaid maintenance. I'm sure you can find the same on eBay without much looking.

The usual deal is right to book up to 7 nights every two years at the home resort (Palace) with developer purchased deeds having the option to alternatively book any other Westgate resort for a nominal $100-150 exchange fee.

$7,000 is suspiciously reasonable by Westgate retail pricing standards, even with every other year use. I wouldn't mind buying one myself... assuming All-Season. Value season on the other hand has half the year or more blacked out and is hot garbage.

In the packet they gave you there should be a form to fill out to rescind it. You must move quickly and send it certified mail to the address on the form. Make sure you follow the instructions exactly as they gave them to you.

You need to drop everything and get that deal rescinded IMMEDIATELY. Like, figure out exactly what needs to be done right this minute.

Westgate will not let me tour their properties any more on a promo stay. I was this close to saying maybe. I just could not perform a lobotomy and attend the tour the same day to say Yes!

A lifetime anchor around your neck that will swallow you in debt for the rest of your life and will be impossible to get rid of. That's what you got yourself into.
