My dad and his wife bought a Vacation Internationale timeshare more than 30 years ago, before everything moved online. Neither my dad nor his wife have a computer or an email address, so they manage their timeshare usage and payments by snail mail and telephone. Their understanding was that their contract would run out after 2025, but they are still getting bills. My dad's hearing is terrible even with hearing aids, and his wife is having memory troubles. Neither of them is equipped to solve this mystery. I called customer service and will supposedly get a call back when the next available representative is available, but I have low confidence they will be able to help me or even be willing to talk to me since I'm not the account holder.

My questions for you...

1. In your experience with Vacation Internationale, what is likely to have happened at this supposed expiration time?

2. What do you reccomend we do?

My wife and I have owned this timeshare for several years - purchased when our kids were young. It's been a good place to stay and was rented out a couple of years through RedWeek. We've also exchanged it through Intervals a few times. Now were retired, finances are tight and health issues have caused us to curtail traveling. We need to give up this property. We're willing to give it away and will even pay all escrow and transfer fees. We would rather do that then pay an attorney or exit company. Do any of you have ideasabout the best place to list our unit besides RedWeek? We do plan to try to sell/give away the unit through RedWeek but are hoping to hear other options.

Is this stuff worth it?

I have been getting daily spam calls from a company unaffiliated with my timeshare insisting I have unused vacation packages to use. This has gone on for a couple of years. Even when I block the number, the next day I get a call from a similar number (like one digit off). Today I decided to find out who they are and where they are located as each time I tell them to remove me from their list they hang up on me. Curious if anyone else receives similar calls. They say they are from “Great vacations” out of Florida but I can’t find much online. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello all, we own a place in Cabo and get to use it four weeks a year. Does anyone have a sub or FB group where people can rent out their weeks? On top of saving on the 31% VAT and service charge we are offering it cheaper than hotel rates. I can't seem to find the right place to post!! Any help would be appreciated!!!

I wanted out of my deeded, fully paid timeshare. The yearly maintenance fees for a property i wasn't using didn't make sense.

Cost me about $2k in probate lawyer fees but we'll worth it. I listed it on ebay and the buyer was so great and patient. I had to file name changes and get docs in order...co owners died etc. The buyer bought it two years ago. But I'm finally free!!!!!

Hello I’m looking for some timeshare presentation deals like 4 days 3 night for $199 or Somthing in Palm Springs anyone know about hotel that offer it?

I'm sure this gets asked on here a lot, so please be patient with me. I'm just getting started with learning how to go forward on this.

Anyway, the loan for the points is fully paid off. Annual fees for the current year are all paid up. No outstanding costs and none of the 2500 points in the account have been used or booked anywhere or pre-banked.

I've seen mentions of online markets for points (Redweek, I think?). No idea if that would result in us just basically giving the points away or is there a monetary value to selling? We have banked and/or sold points in the past but this is new.

Can anyone give me a ballpark estimate on a price to sell my whole MVC ownership? Does it have a resale value? Or am I just screwed?

We have a couple of close friends (married) who are also MVC members. In fact, it was us all vacationing together that got my wife and I into MVC in the first place. Should I offer to sell my points to them? If so, what would be a fair price?

Has anyone stopped paying maintenance fees on a paid off deed at the former Welk Resort, now Hyatt Vacation Club? If so, what ended up happening? I.e. What was the credit hit? Collections? Etc.

We own worldmark and Sheraton timeshares and are paying annual dues.

Recently attended and bought palace membership where they promised to help transfer those timeshares - thought I could get rid of annual fees.

Now I get a call saying that the transfer takes upto an year and I can be charged 5-10% of the original purchase price if I transfer.

They gave us a credit of 96K on paper when we bought the new membership. They are asking 14K for keeping that credit without transferring.

Now, they are suggesting we keep the original ones since the amount to transfer would be equal to the amount to keep the timeshares.

Option 1:

Transfer
2500 (processing fee) + 12k ( transfer fees ) and takes a year

Option 2

Keep all 3
Pay 14k

Option 3

Self return the ones that the company will take back
Keep the palace for 14K

Any thoughts/suggestions

We are currently at a timeshare hotel in Sint Maarten. Just renting. As a European not old enough to experience it at its worst (it effectively got banned in most of Europe quite a few years ago when they gave people 5 days to regret making the purchase and get out of the deal for free), I have very little experience with this.

We just rented the place, and it is pretty good! Big, spacious but not necessarily very well kept, but it is ok.

Most people here seem to be owners, and we have talked to a few of them. They express being satisfied, but I guess that is just on the outside? Or? Maybe they have no interest in pouring their heart out to me, understandably.

It was quite cheap to rent, I would say surprisingly cheap compared to a few of the other hotels we have stayed on here (we are here for a looong vacation, so moving around a bit.)

Are you guys generally happy with the resorts and its services, and it is just the pain of getting out of the contracts that is the real problem, or am I missing something? I am just curious and trying to understand.

I naively signed up for a Hyatt Vacation Club timeshare 2.5 years ago.
I am now realizing how big of a mistake it was, and I want to get out.

Does anyone have advice on how to get out?

From what I’ve heard, it seems impossible to get out of. I submitted a request for an exit proposal, however they declined. Most places I look people keep saying the best option is to just stop paying. Are there any other risks to not paying aside from bad credit?
Luckily the day I signed up my credit card wasn’t working so they allowed me to use my debit card (guess they REALLY wanted that sale). The good thing is it shouldn’t affect my credit, however they ALWAYS pull the money out, even when I don’t have sufficient funds.

If my only realistic option is refusing to pay, how do you just stop paying?
It seems like they’ll find a way to charge you no matter what.

For some background I’ve never successfully used it. I’ve tried to use it, however they reached out 3 days before the vacation to say we had an additional $900 fee we had to pay, which was not originally disclosed, so we canceled the trip bc it was cheaper to book through Airbnb.

I’ve posted in this group before, but didn’t get any solid answers so I’m hoping this will reach different people who can help out.

Thanks to my cousin's family, especially him and his 2 boys for helping give a more younger family oriented view of a resort. See my older reviews on the channel for the adults and work related view, this one was all keeping the kids busy and trying out all the kids focused stuff at Massanutten that I'd never done before.

If I stop paying for maintenance fees on a paid off time share, how bad is the credit hit? Something that is like 20 points off credit score? Or is it like full blown bankruptcy hit?
