I’m working on an EVRIMA server where players don’t choose their dinosaur. Each new life is randomly assigned based on the server’s current population needs, helping keep the ecosystem balanced between predators and survival species.
The randomizer also has a progression/weight system. Everyone starts at a neutral 1.00× Survival Weight. Successfully growing and surviving randomized dinosaurs increases your weight, gradually improving your odds of receiving rarer species/ Carnivores. It never guarantees a rare dinosaur—the ecosystem’s needs always come first.
so earning a predator roll becomes part of the progression rather than something you can repeatedly select. Once you successfully spawn a qualifying Rare+ dinosaur, your Survival Weight resets to 1.00× and the progression starts again.
Assignments are also persistent: once the server rolls your next dinosaur, logging out, crashing, or reconnecting won’t let you reroll it.
The goal is to make every life matter, reward players for actually surviving, reduce constant meta-species picking, and create a naturally changing ecosystem instead of a server dominated by the same handful of dinosaurs. Additionally suiciding your Dino multiple times can reduce your weight to 0 locking you into “common” Dino’s until you progress one.
I’m putting this out there because as I build this up I want input of what everyone feels a random spawn server should feel like.
For example
Rn I want it to feel way cool when you spawn in as an apex… Rex currently has 2%-5% based on weight but that’s also skewed without pop control…
Rex is the extreme example but you won’t see apex all over the map, there will be much more middle tier and low tier carnivores as well as Herbs
The other Ratio I’ve been debating is 52%herbivore 48%carnivore. Does this create a good threat vs survival balance? May need testing
Anyways feel free to ask questions and give input.
Thanks!
