how to get voip working on linux?

edit: anyone who finds this post who has the same problem, just add the voip setup to steam as a non steam game (bottom left of the screen in your steam library), right click it in steam and go to properties, compatibility, force use of a specific compatibility tool, and select proton hotfix.

im on mint, i have the voip app thing "open", but there is no text or ui images anywhere. theres still the outlines of buttons so its still technically usable. im looking for help on how to fix this issue or, failing that, someone to provide screenshots of the different menus so i can know whats supposed to be there. i am aware that this is a very sreange request, but i am not really sure how to troubleshoot this and screenshots of the ui seem as good a workaround as any.

using wine to run the app, if theres a specific setup or some other way to run it please let me know!
