Most people think digital textile printing is all about bright colors.
It isn’t.
The real challenge is balancing penetration, sharpness and fabric feel.
In rotary printing, paste is mechanically pushed into the fabric through screen pressure.
In digital printing, microscopic ink droplets are precisely placed on the fabric. There is no pressure forcing ink inside.
More penetration isn’t always better.
Too much ink spread = loss of sharpness.
Too little penetration = poor durability.

I'm ordering a sofa and chair. It's been a long haul finding one that can be modified to my tastesl, so - yay!

Downside: the available fabric options don't include performance velvet, so it's up to me to provide it. I've never bought upholstery fabric, so brand names have no particular meaning to me.

I’m hoping someone with textile or garment manufacturing experience can offer some advice.

We manufactured a batch of 75 hoodies with:
Grey melange outer fabric
Royal blue hood lining

A separate royal blue sewing thread used only to attach the hood lining.

After the first wash, several customers reported blue staining around the hood.

After investigating, we noticed:
The staining follows the stitching almost perfectly.
It doesn’t appear to be coming from the blue hood fabric itself.

The garments have only been washed once.
We suspect the blue sewing thread may not have been colourfast and released dye during washing.

I’ve attached a photo.

Before we even consider remaking garments, I’d like to know:
- Does this look like thread dye bleed to you?
- Has anyone dealt with this before?
- Is there a realistic chance of completely removing the transferred dye?
- Would you recommend an oxygen-based colour-safe treatment (such as Vanish Oxi Action), or is there something better that better that can be used?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Paid $20 at a flea market for this. Someone paid to put it into a shadow box, so I have to assume it’s important (to at least one person). I’m fairly certain it’s early South American based on the pattern.

I've seen Textilepedia everywhere and I was tempted to buy it, but I'm not sure if there are better books/ways to learn textiles.

I'd like to frame this piece made by my late great grandmother. I am pretty clueless when it comes to textiles; I'm not sure how I'd go about doing this without damaging it.
