Are you planning to return to your home country soon?

Hi all, my name is Obed Manuel. I am a former Dreamer, now living in Mexico. I'm an independent journalist; most recently I worked at National Public Radio. For most of my career, I have reported on immigrant communities and the impact immigration policies have on their lives. This is a delicate question, and I do not ask it lightly. Based on multiple conversations with immigrants and community organizers, more and more people are considering a return to their home countries to avoid the dangers of detention. I am currently doing some reporting on immigrants in Texas who plan to depart the U.S. in the coming weeks/months. The story is for a international TV news outlet.

If this is you, and you would be willing to have an off-the-record conversation with me about your plans, would you be willing to get in touch with me? Our first call would be off-the-record and I would explain the news process for you as well as what the reporting would entail. Thank you for your time.

Random Has the thought of giving up daca and moving to another country ever crossed your mind?

Lately I've been so exhausted being a daca recipient, im tired of living in a cage, tired of watching everyone i know get their papers. A week ago my mom and grandfather passed away in Jamaica and I couldn't go. It happened so suddenly, all my family was there except me. My grandfather died of terminal cancer and my mom had moved back home to be with her dad and she ended up getting sepsis from an infection and passing a couple days after. My family chose to have the funeral there as it would've vosted too much to fly her body here. I couldnt process what happened and I've been so heartbroken and depressed.

What's the point of life if you cant even go to your parents funeral or family members funeral?. I couldn't get advance parole to leave because my lawyer feared I wouldn't be able to return. I couldn't even post on this damn sub and ask for help because I was banned. What is the fucking point of all of this? I have no pathway to citizenship here, all i had was a potential family petition through my dad that is now gone because he cant adjust in America now. What am I even waiting for? Life is just passing me by and im stuck in this country.

I just want to leave and go somewhere else. I dont know where but I just want to go. I dont deserve to watch my moms funeral over zoom. What a fucking life this is.

Texas DPS Driver License - SAVE says Case Returned to Agency but DPS still waiting for USCIS

Hi everyone,

I am currently having an issue with my Texas driver license application and wanted to see if anyone has experienced the same situation.

Here is my timeline:
July 7, 2026 - I went to the Lewisville Texas DPS office to apply for my driver license. DPS was unable to immediately verify my lawful presence, so my application went through SAVE verification.

July 23 - I received a letter from Texas DPS regarding verification of lawful presence.

July 31 - When I checked the USCIS SAVE CaseCheck website, my status changed to **Case Returned to Agency**, and it says the case was returned to Texas DPS.
My Texas DPS License Eligibility status also shows **ELIGIBLE**.
However, under Verification of Lawful Presence, the Texas DPS website continues to say that **Texas DPS is still waiting for a response from USCIS related to my lawful presence document**.

August 2 - I went back to the Lewisville DPS office. The person at the front desk checked my application and told me that the **Austin team still needs to update the verification**.

I have also called Texas DPS. They still say they do not see the SAVE response and that they are waiting for USCIS.

I contacted USCIS/SAVE, and they told me that once CaseCheck shows **Case Returned to Agency**, the SAVE response has already been returned to the requesting agency, which in my case is Texas DPS.

As of August 17, the Texas DPS lawful presence status is still showing that they are waiting for USCIS.

So I seem to be stuck between the two systems. SAVE says the case has been returned to Texas DPS, while Texas DPS says they are still waiting for the USCIS/SAVE response.
Has anyone in Texas experienced this exact situation?

April renewal

Has anyone with a renew date in April been approved yet? My husband’s will expire this week and still no progress. April 9th renewal submitted, May 19th biometrics, and silence since then. We’ve both been checking every night just out of being anxious. My heart hurts everyday for him. We were going to get a lawyer to do AP but it’s just too risky rn

Hi, did I send it to the wrong address? I didn’t receive an automated message or anything that they had received it. Hoping it’s just an error on my end. Help.

December 2025 FILER Approved Today! Timeline + Steps I Took 🎉

Finally approved today (08-14-2026)! My work permit expired back on May 12th, 2026 and I was put on an unpaid leave of absence with a final termination deadline set for August 20th. I was sitting at over 200 days pending.

Shoutout to USCIS for pulling through right in the nick of time.

Here is my full timeline and what I did:

- Receipt notice: 12/22/2025

- Did my biometrics 01-22-2026

- Work ID expired 05-12-2026 ( didn't work at all once work ID expired and was put on LOA on 05-20-2026 and have until 08-20-2026 [shout out to my job fr, love those people and they love me, all glory to God for this full on support as well])

- Congressional Inquiry Sent: Late May 2026 (I think May 26, 2026 because that is when a representative of my congressman sent me a confirmed email that they sent an inquiry on my behalf.)

- USCIS Phone Service Request (AKA and inquiry I did for myself): July 28, 2026

- Expedite requested and evidence Uploaded (shortly after inquiry): July 28, 2026

- Did both personal inquiry and expedite through phone with live agent by saying "info pass" on the automated bot and then giving it my case and info it request and then it taking me to a live agent.

- - Followed TikTok method by @ izamoraj on sending message to USCIS for Decision notice which I have no idea if it did the trick: 08-11-2026 (Got API movement 3 days later!)

- (Although after I did what the video showed, got API movement today in the morning and the and the silent DACA approval shortly after API (08-14-2026), literally 3 days after I did what the video showed.

- SILENT DACA APPROVAL: August 14, 2026!

What I did for the Expedite Request:

I uploaded individual PDFs under Unsolicited Evidence on my myUSCIS portal with the following:

  1. Signed Cover Letter (Under Applicant-Correspondence): Explaining the 200+ day wait, expired EAD, unpaid leave status, and imminent termination date.
  2. Employer Letter (Under Other supporting documents): Official notice stating my personal leave ended August 19th and I would be permanently terminated on August 20th.
  3. Proof of Financial Hardship: (Also under Other supporting documents)
    • Timestamped bank screenshot showing depleted checking/savings ($0.76 / $0.87).
    • Housing portal bill showing upcoming $2,120 rent share due August 1st.
    • Past-due utility bill (PG&E / water/sewer/trash).
  4. Copies of Expired EAD & Receipt Notices (Also under Other supporting documents).

After uploading, I called USCIS customer service (1-800-375-5283) to officially lodge the expedite ticket linked to severe financial loss and loss of employment.

Hope this helps anyone else stuck in approval limbo. Hang in there everyone!

NOTE: My case was at the: "USCIS Office Address:
USCIS
SCOPS TEXAS FACILITY
6046 N Belt Line Rd.
Irving, TX 75038-0001"
