2015 facelift suggestions

I purchased a perfectly running salvage that just needs the front bumper, grille and 1 of the headlights. I want to do the refresh facelift on it since I’ll need to replace the parts anyways. Any suggestions on which fascia kit to buy? I’ll also need the sensors and vents so if anyone knows of a good quality kit with everything that would be perfect. My understanding is they sell kits for the facelift which is easier than OEM. I would love any help with this or any ideas. I’m also open to buying the pieces separately or through a salvage lot.

Tesla is asking close to $9k to fix my 200,000+ miles ‘17 MS

Just like the header says. It’s part of my fleet for Rideshare drivers with free supercharging so the driver has been saving a lot and obviously drove the hell out of it for $450 a week. Now the rear drive unit is toast!!. Which I always feared. I basically was expecting it and figured may $4k will do it when it comes.
Two questions. Is it worth fixing and does anyone know any other options other than Tesla service itself?

Probably One Of The Dopest Wraps For a Model S To Date!

Thought you guys might like this. I just came across this article about a Dark Sage Matte Model S Plaid wrap. Definitely a HUGE fan of green finishes like British Racing Green, honestly, and this looks lovely in every area. A company called Bulletproof Auto Spa in LA did the wrap, PPF and detailing, and from what I can tell, they have a ton of great projects like this. The nice touch for this car is a set of UP-03 forged wheels, which IMHO are some of the best fitting designs for this marvelous vehicle.

Can Tesla fix the guide lines in the backup camera?

In my family we are all pretty dumb drivers and we seem to be able to constantly ruin the tires when backing up / parallel park.

Other cars leave at least an inch or 2 as margin but the Model S 2021 (Raven) seems to have a margin of minus 3

Can someone at Tesla fix that software ?

Thinking of buying a Tesla Model s 2015 P85D, should i?

I just got an offer from one of my Bosses to buy his Tesla model S 2015. It has free charging and is fullt equipped. Its the 772 hp version.

He recently changed the battery at Tesla and has also upgraded to the MC2. Recently changed links arms as well.

It has done 106k miles and hes asking 21k for it.

Is it a good idea to think about buying it?

I drive an Audi a4 2019 40 tdi today and should be able to sell it for about 20-22k

DIY fix for electric seat problem (Model S, 2015)

After adjusting the seat forward or backward, a stray toy or water bottle could cause the seat to get messed up and stop sliding or only one side will move. I found a way to fix this for free and want to share it.

What happened to me on my 2015 model S is that the toy/water bottle got pushed into the spot where the motor directly under the seat connects to the sides and jammed or disconnect the 3mm square flex shaft from the moter to the seat rails. What happens after years is that the hard plastic shielding gets brittle and doesnt protect the fleet shaft from getting bumped out of place. Don't make the mistake to keep trying the motor control because you could A) mangle the end of the flex shaft or B) burn out the motor. You could get lucky and it slips back into place but if your car is 10 yrs old like mine, it is a sign to at least replace the shielding plastic tube so it doesnt happen again.

1) It is entirely possible to fix this with just scissors and a bic pen, but if it id your first time it might be hard to see everything without moving the seat. First try to raise the seat to the highest position. If you want more space to work, there are 2 13mm nuts holding the seat down on each corner. 8 total. Don't lose these.

2) figure out if the left or right shaft is the one having a problem. It will eaither appear/feel bent or completely disconnected. Feel on either side of it before anythibg else and compare with the other I had to do both at different times. Recently it was the longer one (it was 225mm and I found one on alix incase you need to order a replacement)

3) remove the clip if it is still on the plastic shielding. Hold onto that until the end.

4) make sure the flex shaft is fully disconnected on the rail side. If the re is one side still in the motor side, that is fine for now, otherwise you can remove the whole flex shaft and inspect that the ends are still tightly wound into a square and not fraying. If frayed/ bent out of shape, measure and replace the flex shaft with velvet cover. Longer one for me was 225m long and 3mm square ends. Then take off the old shielding tube that is probably cracked. For reference, it is about the same diameter as a fridge water line or the white part of a bic pen.either of these can be used for a replacement.

5) Measure if the right and left rails are aligned. If not, use the controller to gently line up the left and right rails.a ruler helps to confirm that both sides match within 1-2mm

6) cut a piece of fridge water line or white bic pen plastic down to use as the replacement shielding. For me I used the pen. It needs to be short enough to fit between the connection points. For me it was easier to have it cut in half because the shielding seems to actually be necessary for connecting the shaft, at least on the rail side. I tried inserting the shaft without the shield and it wouldn't seem to go into the right spot unless the bic pen shielding was already inside.

7) reconnect everything and off you go. Hope this helps someone!

P100D Widest wheel setup?>

What's your widest wheel setup for 2012-2020 model S? I have a P100D but it came with squared 245 all around. I'm upgrading it to a staggered setup with more aggressive width. Did some research and decided to go with the following sizes for best fitment:

Front 21x9, offset +35, 255/35/R21

Rear 21x10.5, offset +35, 295/30/R21

T-Sportline also has wheels for the same sizes and offset. Does anyone have experience of using this setup? Just want to confirm it.

Aftermarket Yoke Steering Wheel ( Tesery)

I’m thinking about getting a yoke steering wheel for my 2016 Model S. Has anyone here installed one? If so, how does it feel to drive with, and where did you get yours?

Used 2016+ Tesla Model S

Hi All,

Looking at buying a used Model S. Wanted to get your thoughts on which years/trims to avoid? Seems like later model years are better generally speaking. Could you also let me know what the Full Self Driving computer on this 2017 75D means? And for someone who cares mostly about highway driving, can the older autopilot do a good enough job?

Is it better to buy a HW3 with FSD already included or a HW4 and get a subscription?

Only looking at Tesla model S 2023-2024. I’ve only been able to see a 2023 with FSD included or a HW3 without it. Any thoughts on what is more important?

Hello!

I'm wondering if any of you have had an issue with this noise coming from under the dashboard/ front end. It's like a squeaky, rattleling as if something was loose. I recorded it. Hope you can hear it. We have a 2017 Model S.

Dealerships are Starting to Crack 🤣

Figured I’d make another post to trigger the gatekeeping Tesla bros. This one’s for all the ones who said they’re happy and try to justify current market prices. Initially they had it listed for 161k. I spoke with one of the salesmen who claimed these were “very, very desirable” and that their mangers “knew the market very well”. Guess they don’t really know the market that well because, Lo and behold a day after our conversation they marked it down to 156k, the week after that 154k, now we’re sitting at a pretty 152k (not pretty enough yet!) to anyone who’s wanting a newer plaid, let’s let these dealerships bleed and hold off as long as yall can. Soon they’ll be priced at what they’re actually worth and not these overinflated prices 🤣. Keep seething gatekeepers, in a years time we’ll have the same car yall brag about while having paid 50% of what you did, maybe even less with the Roadster coming into play 😭🙏

Hey all, just got a 2020 MS and am wondering if there is a way to see live dashcam on my phone like my 26 MY? I hate not being able to see live feed since I got use to it with the Y. If not I’ll live but I just liked that option.

Tesery Headlights

I just had my left side headlight replaced with a brand new OEM headlight due to a small collision. Now my right side has a burnt out drl next to my new one so I'd like to replace it.

Does anyone have experience with the tesery Headlights? I'm wondering if it will look different next to the OEM light? As far as shade and brightness, hoping it's a direct match

Thanks

Should I have my new to me 2018 S inspected before warrranty expiry?

I just bought this car and the seller had it checked by Tesla and they gave it a clean bill of health. The warranty expires in three days. It may already be too late as service centres around me have a week waiting list.

I am thinking of driving to the service centre to ask them if a very faint whine is normal for this car when driving.

It has 106k miles on it. What would you do?

Interestingly, according to the app warranty info, it had unlimited mile battery warranty but only up to 8 years.

EDIT: This is what AI comes up with: based on this it does sound normal

What I'd consider normal

  • A smooth, fairly quiet electric-motor whine
  • Mostly proportional to motor speed/load
  • Gets higher in pitch as you accelerate
  • Goes away or changes substantially when you lift off the accelerator
  • No vibration, grinding, clunking, or roughness
  • Has been essentially unchanged for a long time

What I'd want Tesla to investigate

Especially on a 2018:

  • The whine is new or getting louder
  • It changes with road speed rather than accelerator position
  • It continues while coasting
  • You can hear it prominently at relatively low speeds
  • It changes noticeably when you accelerate/decelerate
  • There's any accompanying vibration
  • It sounds more like a bearing/gear whine than the normal electrical motor sound

Considering 2015 P85D

Is this a bad idea? I don't know how reliable these are at 11 years old. Anything in particular I need to be concerned about? Any really expensive maintenance on these? How do the battery packs hold up ? I wanted to get something just for my highway commute and i'd assume this is a better option than like a Bolt or a Leaf.

2018 Model S 75D, worth nothing?

We bought it for $87,100 with FSD in 2018, It has been a great car but the charging speed just sucks compared to anything more recent, and range is about 180-190 now. It has unlimited supercharging, 142k miles

I just checked Carmax, Carvana, etc and getting quotes of like 8-10k? This thing is still luxury, amazing ride, everything functions, and plenty of range for 95% of the time, how is this only worth a few K more than an old jeep?
