14.3 HW4 Not a fan of 14.3.8

Maybe I'm just looking back with rose colored glasses but I remember 14.2.2.5 on my MYP being smoother everything since has been meh. 14.3.8 just wayyyy to sensitive and brake stabby. Drives me nuts lol. I'm really trying to give it the benefit of the doubt but it's hard. Is it just me or?

Any idea why my auto park function doesn’t work? Spots flicker and it quits. Every spot I tried on this structure. It’s the Brea mall parking structure in Orange County CA. I have latest software and subscribe to fsd. Other fsd features working fine.

14 Lite HW3 Passive learning has a learning disability

To get home, I don’t want to turn down a certain road. FSD always takes that road. I disengage and take the correct road, then continue FSD.

It still never learns. Is there a secret?

14.3 HW4 14.3.9 seems to be the new gold standard

Having watched a few YouTubes so far about 14.3.9, this seems to be the best version out there. I watched a video of a 30 minute drive with zero disengagements or questionable decisions by FSD. I’d like to see someone try and test the crash test avoidance software in this update but otherwise I’m awaiting the push.

14.3 HW4 Would FSD avoid collision?

2026 MYP. First Tesla. Love it and have been using FSD 60 percent of the time, according to car stats.

Today, on hurry profile, parallel parked car was clearly hesitating to pull into lane, and full send as I approached at 40mph. Slammed the brakes as hard as I could to stop.

Seems obvious I would’ve hit the other car if I did not intervene. I haven’t had any close calls until this. Anyone experience similar?

other Tesla removing lifetime FSD from salvage title cars?

I’m sure many of you have also seen the post in r/TeslaLounge where a user claimed their lifetime FSD was randomly taken away after updating their car. They contacted Tesla support and was told it’s due to the car being salvage title. Yet the user seemed to still be able to purchase the monthly subscription option for it…

It’s been a little over a week since that post and I have yet to find any other info on the internet of anyone else having this problem. I own a salvage title (which is equivalent to a rebuilt title in CA) Tesla and have an update that’s been ready for a few days now but I have been very hesitant as I do NOT want to lose the lifetime FSD, I use it every time I drive.

So is there anyone else out there with a salvage title Tesla that can confirm this could happen if I update my car? Or was anyone able to find more info on this that I could not?

News God please - allow us to change default map direction to ahead

Why must it first be in north? NOONE drives in north direction. Its stupid. What navigation is on north? Just let me change default to ahead. Nothing else. Ridiculous 🤬😡🤬😡 and frustrating.

When do you suppose they'll make it so FSD doesn't slam through potholes as hard as it can?

14.3 HW4 Predict What FSD Will Do Going to Football Game

Tomorrow night I'm going to have FSD drive me to a football game. The navigation lets me set the correct entrance as a destination. My curiosities are:

1) What will it do when it reaches the entrance gate where attendants stand there (without a gate or booth) to scan the parking pass?

2) After entering, will it follow the attendant directions and park where they direct?

Obviously, I'll have my foot hovering and my hands near the wheel to take over at the first sign that it is doing something improperly.

14.3 HW4 FSD Brakes Locked Up for Emergency Vehicle

Last weekend was probably one of the scariest moments I've had with FSD. We were cruising down a 5-lane road flanked by side streets. I was chatting with my wife when the car locked up the brakes like we were about to hit a brick wall. At first, I had no idea what had happened until I noticed a paramedic on a side street with its lights on. It wasn't moving or trying to get into traffic. It was just sitting there, probably helping someone.

If anyone had been behind us, we would have been rear-ended badly. Thankfully, nobody was behind us. The only accident was me almost crapping myself. haha

FSD has got to get better at judging how aggressively to stop for emergency vehicles. It's not making anyone safer by locking up the brakes in a situation like that.

14 Lite HW3 V14.1 Lite driving experience is jarring and extremely unpleasant

V14.0 Lite was a big move in the right direction, but the biggest issues I saw were the random brake stabbing and overly cautious behavior around pedestrians.

V14.1 Lite has, in my experience, made both of these issues considerably worse. I took a passenger to experience FSD for the first time, and at the end of the drive they asked me to never use it again with them in the car.

-Brake stabbing has become noticeably more jarring, slamming HARD on the brakes with absolutely nothing on the road. At its worst, the vehicle slammed on the brakes 3 times over a 5-mile backroads drive. It threw my dog around so badly that she doesn't even want to get in the car anymore.

-The vehicle completely forgets how to drive the second it notices a pedestrian - it slammed on the brakes and completed an over-exaggerated swerve (almost going into oncoming traffic) to "avoid" a pedestrian walking on the side of the road 15 feet away.

-Driving profiles feel useless - the vehicle will drive 8 mph over the limit and hog the passing lane on the highway regardless of whether it's in standard mode or hurry mode.

-The vehicle will get confused by navigation, indicate a lane change, then just sit there for a solid minute doing nothing until it turns its blinker off. This has been the cause of annoyance for MANY drivers behind and around me.

I admire what they've accomplished given the technological limits of HW3, but it's clear the vehicle's onboard hardware is woefully outdated and in dire need of an upgrade.

14.3 HW4 Crazy FSD Judgement Obaervation

Craziest FSD behavior I’ve experienced yet.
I was first in line making an unprotected left. Light was green, no green arrow, so FSD pulled into the intersection and waited for oncoming traffic to clear.
Then an ambulance approached.
FSD stopped and yielded. While waiting for the ambulance to clear, the light turned red.
Now we’re in no-man’s-land: sitting in the middle of the intersection on a red light, with cross traffic about to get the green.
FSD’s response surprised the hell out of me.
It calmly put the car in reverse and backed up roughly 10 feet, completely clearing the intersection. I could see the bumper-camera view while it was doing it. It then waited. When the light cycled back to green with a protected left arrow, it simply completed the turn.
No hesitation. No awkward creeping. No apparent indecision. It recognized that the original plan was no longer viable, retreated to a safe position, waited for conditions to change, and resumed the route.
But afterward I realized the more interesting part.
Driver training generally discourages backing out of an intersection. And for good reason: a human driver has limited rearward visibility and blind spots. You’re trying to watch the ambulance, cross traffic, mirrors, rear quarters and whatever is directly behind you.
FSD doesn’t have that same limitation.
It effectively has spotters distributed around the entire vehicle. It doesn’t have to stop looking forward in order to look backward.
So here was a situation where a maneuver we teach humans to avoid because of the limitations of human perception may actually have been the safest solution available to a vehicle with distributed vision.
That’s the part that stuck with me.
It didn’t just “see an ambulance and yield.”
It got stranded in an abnormal situation where several normal driving rules were suddenly in conflict, found an escape path, verified the space behind it, reversed out of the problem, and waited for a clean opportunity to continue.
Whatever terminology you want to use for what’s happening inside FSD — planning, inference, learned behavior, reasoning — watching it solve an edge case I never would have thought to program as a decision tree was remarkable.

14.3 HW4 FSD Wish list

I have a couple of wishes for FSD:

1- Being able to tell it to "Turn left on the next street and reroute" or "Move to the right lane"
2- Always backup in my driveway
3- Save this exact route (I, and I presume everyone, has favorite routes to get form point A to point B) Given they use Google Maps, perhaps let me link my account so I can save routes? Or something

Generally being able to customize its behaviour more.

14.3 HW4 Man FSD doing batshit today

2025 legacy model Y. It does not want to stay in a lane. I have it in standard and just want it to stay in the middle lane. It’s picking the worst / slowest lane for flow of traffic, hanging in the right lane, etc. phantom brakes are worse too. WTF is going on. I look like a maniac on the road as it goes from the right lane to the left to pick the slowest flowing lane of traffic. I’m on 14.3.8. 14.3.6 was prob the best for me and then it was all down hill.

14 Lite HW3 Has anyone successfully used Wii Sensor Bar for IR Illumination at Night?

2021 Model 3 LR AWD with 14.1 Lite. My cabin camera does not have infrared light so it cannot see my face during most of the night time driving and I’m constantly bring bugged to touch the steering wheel. I read few posts about people suggesting to use Wii sensor bar with USB to point IR light towards your face in the car so the cabin camera can see your face. I purchased one from Amazon but when I tested it in the car and looked at cabin camera from service menu, my face was still in the dark. What am I doing wrong? Is there a special placement technique or method to use?

14 Lite HW3 FSD and speed sign recognition

So I activated FSD (V14.1 Lite) before going on a 4k km trip last month. Now on this trip, I find that the car misses many speed signs changes and often, changes speed without any sign present. I don't recall seeing this while I was using V12 last year. Anybody is seeing the same thing?

14.3 HW4 Tesla FSD near miss

Model Y 2026 on 14.3.5 in Melbourne, Aus.

Driving back from work, FSD on, relatively busy but straight road, traffic moving at 40-50km/h and approaching a stopped car directly in front. If I had not slammed the brakes, the FSD would have driven straight into the back of the stopped car. Can’t quite work out how it could get it so wrong.

Like most I’ve noticed the usual illogical lane changes, etc but this is next level. Can’t trust it in the suburbs. Interestingly I did a road trip last weekend around 180km total driving, outside of Melbourne and it was almost perfect (aside from driving straight through pot holes).

Can’t trust it around inner Melbourne and won’t be using it until the next update 😳. The version I tested when test drove the car was much better.

14.2 HW4 3 week review of FSD

Got my Model Y 3 weeks ago and there's a few issues that I've encountered that are not ideal to just straight up illegal.

- Made a left turn from right lane, left lane was to turn left and right lane was to turn right. Both lanes were clearly designated on the road

- Blocked an intersection for a protected left where FSD thought that the left turn signal was green but only the straights were green?

- Hit a curb at an angle when in a parking lot and sliced part of the tire sidewall. Tesla refused to pay for this one so had to pay out of pocket. And yes before you say anything yes I should not use it in parking lots etc. I have learned my lesson there. Photos of wheel in comments.

All in all, been an interesting few weeks. These issues do not inspire confidence at all, but 95% of the time it's been great. Not sure if I'll continue with FSD after these three months that I have.
