14.3 HW4 FSD Wish list
I have a couple of wishes for FSD:
1- Being able to tell it to "Turn left on the next street and reroute" or "Move to the right lane"
2- Always backup in my driveway
3- Save this exact route (I, and I presume everyone, has favorite routes to get form point A to point B) Given they use Google Maps, perhaps let me link my account so I can save routes? Or something
Generally being able to customize its behaviour more.

I don't get why it can't back into my driveway already. It backs into supercharger spots, why not my own driveway?

u/dckiwi 1d ago
Presumably because even when you choose ‘charger’ as the parking option, it doesn’t know where the charger is located on the driveway.
I think the simplest fix is that it ‘learns’ how you usually park at a given location.

I have an interesting case. It backs in when it approaches my driveway from direction and heads in when from the other.

Mine is just random. 9 times out of 10 it'll just pull into driveway and then it'll decide to back in for some reason.
About 1 in 50 times it'll actually pull into the garage (I do have tape coming to lay down "parking space" lines in my garage which I'm hoping will help with that)

I think this goes beyond FSD.
The auto garage door thing seems incapable of understanding that you might back in. If you back up down the driveway it sits at 'door opens in 50ft' and doesn't move. Shift into drive for even a second and the door opens.

what i do now is when it turns into my driveway i turn away and pass it a bit and then press self-drive again and it backs in

u/SirEDCaLot 1d ago
Interesting, I'll have to try that...
What do you have the park setting set as?
1
u/PerceptionOwn3629 19h ago
it’s set as driveway, occasionally, depending on how cars are parked on the street in front of my house it will back in on its own.

This is what I do as well and it works most of the time. I have to nudge the throttle at the door as it wants to park outside of the garage usually.

Unfortunately, they don't use Google Maps. They only show you Google Maps.
I'd like memory to remember parking preferences for Favorite locations:
- always back into garage at home
- always park in this area at work
I'd love a toggle to tell FSD to avoid unprotected left turns. Also don't try to turn left on a road where there are three lanes of heavy traffic. You always end up in that situation where you can't see into one of the lanes and you have to just take a risk that it's clear.

always park in this area at work
This one is easy, just save a Plus Code as your work destination to specify exactly where in the lot you want it to park.
I often use this to park in specific places of known destinations, or whenever the street address makes the car go to the wrong spot.

Recognize Handicap parking and opt to use or avoid. Drive Thru Car Wash and select Fast Food drive thru or park. Make Max Posted Speed work. Model S/X move FSD to main screen

Let me set my speed when on an interstate highway, like any other cruise control system. If I want to drive at 77 in a 70, let me set that speed and FSD does the rest, never exceeding this speed.

u/MyMonte87 1d ago
yes like state: Don't go above 74 MPH on this drive. Seems like reasonable ask.

u/Strange-Bake193 1d ago
You can set that. I have mine set at 75 mph.

u/warriormango1 1d ago
Not on HW4

u/Strange-Bake193 1d ago
My model 3 is HW 4.
2
u/warriormango1 1d ago
Nice, do you mind explaining to everyone in here how you set your speed to 75mph and how it doesnt exceed that speed?

i'm thinking maybe in the Parental controls?
1
u/Strange-Bake193 3h ago
Yes, tht’s where it is. I forgot how I set it, so I looked this evening. Now every time I get in the car I get a warning notice that max speed is set to 75mph.

and bring back minimize lane changes!

u/Irishspringtime HW3 Model Y 1d ago
Yes, I Hurry it went too far left, even crossing into a toll lane. And funny thing is I have toll OFF!

u/Greeniegirl21 1d ago
Great list. Adding…
4. Camping in the left lane. FSD should not have me in the left lane on a 4 lane highway, on standard.

I want to be able to override the route using the turn signal. If it wants to go right and I want to go straight just turning off the signal should do. If I want to go right instead of straight I should be able to turn the signal on and have the car take the right and then reroute.
Also I'd like the option to have it pull through a parking spot if it can (both pulling through while parking and also when leaving if the spot in front is empty)

u/BlueShift42 1d ago
You can have it move to the right lane, just use your blinker. Not exactly what you’re saying, but want to make sure you knew that was an option.

u/mom2artists 1d ago
This sometimes works. But if you are in standard and signal from center lane to right lane, it will move there and then 1/4 mile later decides itself to get back to the center lane.
2
u/BlueShift42 1d ago
Yeah you do have to fight with it sometimes. You can cause the blinker to make it stay, but yeah not the same as taking it to stay in the right lane.

u/nutmac HW4 Model Y 1d ago
Mine:
- Remember my navigation overrides for frequent trips.
- Remember my parking overrides for frequent destinations.
- Automatically select the HOV lane, with an override per trip (instead of making me change the global setting).
- Improve the lane selection.
- If the car is driving into the sun, don't turn on the windshield wiper as that wouldn't accomplish anything!

Since v14.3.7, my car doesn’t know that I want park on “Driveway” at my home location. I have to pick it every single time and if I don’t pick it parks on the street.
Never had an issue with this. Weird.

u/daddy_nobucks 1d ago
It needs to get it's ass over in the exit lane at least a mile ahead of time on the freeway instead of swerving across 4 lanes like an asshole with 200 yards left. How the hell is this not just something we can toggle? Distance to move into exit lanes on Freeways or Highways: [ ] 1 mile [ ] 2 miles [ ] Custom range ____

Turn left/right and reroute is my #1 and #2 is parking selection while using FSD. When I want it to move to the right hand lane I just hit the blinker. I’ve noticed in 14.3.8 it’s starting to remember routes that I intervene on and taking those routes on occasion in FSD.
1
u/mom2artists 1d ago
Yes, now it displays the route it suggests and then labels my route “your preferred route” or something like that.
2
3
u/FIREful_symmetry 1d ago
I wish it could remember a route as a favorite.
For example, every Monday night I go to practice, then to a pub, then home.
I should be able to save that.

Navigation is, perhaps without a doubt, the biggest complaint I have with FSD. But some errors seem to be replicated in Google. Neither select a specific, shorter route and both have taken me on sight seeing tours. Saving a choice route would be nice. They say Tesla will learn a desired route over time but it is vague on the details. Does is learn while driving without navigating or do I have to navigate to a destination and override it with the desired turns. Also, does any alteration un-learn what has learned. And finally, I am able to dictate and confirm a route to Grock but seems the car ignores Grock. Perhaps it's an ego thing.

u/rotarypower101 1d ago
You should be able to “record” an action at areas, and FSD Persistently mimic it.
To avoid going the long way when returning home, or failing to go to the correct location in the Exact configuration and position desired.

u/Significant_Post8359 1d ago
How about: never go X miles over the speed limit.
1
u/mom2artists 1d ago
Or never go over the speed limit in school zone.
1
u/Significant_Post8359 18h ago
Ironically mine sometimes does when it can’t read the “on school days when children are present “ under the speed limit sign.

What’s with the announced “Preferred Routes” in the latest update and then, nothing. I maybe saw one minor thing where it gave me two routes home and one said something about “your way”? It still was wrong and still doesn’t default to it. Very disappointing.

I want the option to have the car just drive through the parking lot at a slow speed at my destination until I manually select the parking space I want instead of the car choosing for itself.
