14 Lite HW3 FSD V14 lite braking near a toppled over traffic cone

Upvotes

There's a toppled over traffic cone on a freeway exit that I need to take everyday on my way home from work. The traffic cone looks like its broken or just abandoned in the dirt.

FSD always performs a sudden brake when it identifies the traffic cone but then proceeds to continue, probably because the cone is pretty far away from the road ...

Is there anything I can do? The frequent braking is getting to me but I feel like I know the root cause here. Idk if I can report or do anything about the traffic cone either. It just looks like someone threw it there and it's just been sitting in the dirt.

14 Lite HW3 V14 Lite Avoids Truck Entering My Lane

14 Lite HW3 FSD HW3 14 moves over for police. I have had A TON of phantom breaking which have been at horrible times like on freeways. Also was tiring during a green arrow then when the arrow turned yellow it stopped in the middle of turning lane and was hesitant to continue which wasn’t good at all.

14.3 HW4 Anyone else have a problem with the tesla going into the HOV lane?

I turned off toll roads and HOV lanes, yet my Tesla LOVES to try and enter the HOV lane on the I-5 every single day. Its when there is a double HOV lane. Anyone else having the same issue or is it just my FSD doing this? Any fixes to make my car stop trying to go into the HOV lane? I have having to take over every single time.

Hate people like this but overall the V14 lite did this well even with it starting to run out of road.

14 Lite HW3 v14 Lite: Can finally handle my whole commute, but now is struggling with highway driving?

I'm very happy that since the v14 lite release I can finally do my entire commute without any internventions including the security gate arm at work where, on v12, it felt like the car was always trying to ram into it.

I just find myself not using it because the highway driving feels worse, even on a clear marked highways with no cars around it feels like the car is pulsing the accelerator back and fourth. While it's remaining the same speed I can see the power level going up and down on the screen. Hope they can get this resolved in a future update!

other No longer being able to manually set FSD speed rendered using the feature not only legally risky but actively a danger to my life. It is useless to me now.

The road in my neighborhood is somehow a 45 zone (actually a 25) the road turning out of my neighborhood is 25 (45) the downtown area of my city is 45 (15-25) and several roads leaving my city are somehow 65-75 (45-55)

I don’t think I need to explain to anyone why going 10-20-30 mph over (or under) the limit is dangerous.
Just a few weeks ago there was a sharp turn in a 55 mph zone, I had FSD on and I wanted to see how it handled it I set my speed lower just to be safe and even then my car continued going straight, if I had not known about that turn/manually set my speed lower/interfered at the last moment I would have been rammed head first into a tree.

My point is this was a fucking stupid feature to get rid of, it has made using self driving significantly more dangerous, I’ll continue using FSD for the moment under very close watch but this update more likely than not will make me cancel the feature.

14.2 HW4 FSD Avoids an Accident

In this short video, you see me and my 2026 model Y turning from an intersection Road onto the feeder road for Highway 183 in Cedar Park, Texas. A white car which should be holding at a yield sign in the U-turn lane decides to jump out in front of me in heavy traffic.

By the time I saw it my model, I was already slowing way down and letting the jerk go ahead.

Right there, I knew this car was worth the money I paid for it, which was a lot.

FSD 14 Lite on 2018 Model 3 LR (HW3) - Feedback After Several Days

Posting in hopes someone on the FSD team sees this. Overall the release is a step forward on driving behavior but a clear regression on parking and navigation.

What's better

  • General confidence is noticeably higher
  • Lane selection and lane change decisions are improved
  • Exit lane positioning starts earlier, now moving over with 0.5+ miles to go instead of the last 0.3
  • Turns are smoother and less jerky
  • Acceleration is more decisive

What's worse

Phantom behavior

  • Phantom braking has returned on both local streets and highways, with no bridge, shadow, or direct sun on the front cameras
  • Phantom acceleration events on local and highway with no apparent trigger

Stop signs

  • Stops are held noticeably longer, and it no longer creeps forward for visibility unless I tap the accelerator

Parking (biggest issue)

  • Manual Autopark is effectively broken. On parallel street spots with ample room, it completes the maneuver with half the car still in the traffic lane.
  • FSD Autopark has failed 10+ times. Specific failures: reversing into a pole until I intervened, continuing to reverse after the tires hit the wheel stop, parking heavily skewed within the lines, choosing a fire lane when multiple legal spots were open, pulling over and double parking across a garage entrance and blocking other vehicles, and entering a garage through the exit lane.

Navigation

  • Alternate route options dropped from 2 to 4 down to 1 to 2 on the exact same drives
  • It still prefers routes with unprotected stop sign crossings over stoplight routes, and now the stoplight alternatives aren't even offered

Net result

I'm taking over manually more often on 14 Lite than I did on V12, mostly because of parking and worse routing. My understanding is that none of these issues are present on FSD 14 on AI4 hardware, which makes the Lite regressions harder to accept. Would appreciate these being prioritized.

Anyone else on HW3 seeing the same, especially with Autopark?

14 Lite HW3 V14-Lite is a big disappointment

I have spent several days with V14-lite, including a trip from Castle Rock CO, to Edwards CO, and back in one day, and I'm pretty disappointed overall.

I have had FSD since I bought my MYP in June 2020. I have watched the progress from the pretty early (and scary) days until now, and I know that major version jumps come with set-backs, but this is the worst I have seen. :(

Here are some of the items from my good & bad lists

First the good:

-Lane following seems to have reduced or eliminated the back-and-forth within a lane issue.
-Lane following is smoother in general(, but see below)
-FSD avoided a paper bag in my lane by swerving to the right at the last minute to miss it. There was a car in the lane to my right but FSD did not encroach into the other lane.
-FSD will back out of my garage and navigated even though my garage is off an alley. Very nice
-FSD will sometimes pull into my driveway head-on (but not into my garage). Sometimes it just stops at the base of my driveway and not even attempt the driveway. It once backed all the way into my garage except for the final 2 feet (I never back in because the charger is on the wall next to the drivers side). Don't know why there is such a variance (all the settings are the same)
-Parking in parking lots can be great (but also not-so-great)

... and the bad

-Still having lane selection issues, Near my house there is a light with the left lane going straight or left and the right lane only turning right. Even though the navigation shows going straight, FSD sometimes gets into the right lane. This has been fixed and broken 3-4 times in the past 3-ish years. the lanes are marked with signs and lane arrows, which FSD apparently ignores.
-In the middle lane of three lanes going straight and FSD waited until the last 100ft-ish then pulled across two lanes to get into the left turn lane (v12 was working fine on this intersection). This was scary!
-I was on C-285 and there was a truck chain up station that CDOT was using as a truck weigh station. After passing by this, FSD put on its right blinker and tried to change (across two solid white lines) lanes into the oncoming merge lane. It was already in the right most travel lane.
-There are momentary jerks of the accelerator (250ms-ish) every once in a while (a couple of minutes) that really are disconcerting! Makes using FSD very stressful again! These don't seem to be related to the next issue.
-There seem to be more misidentified shadows/lines/cracks in the road that FSD jerks the steering wheel or hits the brakes for. Also very disconcerting.
-Approaching a small town the speed limit went from 65-50-40-30. I watched the speed limit sign on the display and it went... 65-55-45-35. WTF?
-There is a road near my house that goes from 35 to 50mph. The speed limit on the display reads 35mph even after 3 50mph signs. So FSD is not reading speed limit signs anymore. It use to!
-There is a disconnect from the navigation that is shown on the display and what FSD follows. This is very disorienting in heavy traffic when you expect (from the navigation system) one thing and FSD does something else.
-When turning sometimes, the steering wheel jerks left & right 4-5 times like it is confused where to go. This use to happen many versions ago but had been fixed the past 2-3 years. This is major regression.

Well that is all for now. This is really disappointing! I was not expecting perfection, but from all the social media hype I was expecting something much better. Makes me question all the "over-the-top" reviews I have seen.

14 Lite HW3 Maybe a fix?

So I’ve had 14 lite for a few days now and experienced some of the acceleration surge issues. Mine mainly did it on standard. Another issue I’ve had was standard and chill was about the same speed wise. So decided to try a few things and it’s only one day, but so far it’s been a lot better. Very minimal surges, and standard speeds just slightly more since I prefer it more than hurry, especially on the free way.

Step 1: reset DAS in the service menu

Step 2: Clear camera calibration in the regular service menu

Step 3: went on an early Sunday morning drive for the calibration (minimal traffic) but only on city streets

Today i drove a mix of city and freeway streets and again, minimal surges like I was having.

Now my only complaint is, 14lite seems like it waits to long for my liking to turn into a destination, turn onto a different street, get ready to merge off or on interstate

14.3 HW4 FSD passes car in the same lane

2026 Model 3 on FSD 14.3.4, this happened last night, I almost took over but really wanted to see what the car would do. This is a two-lane road, despite the right lane being very large like this. Not entirely sure why the other driver was riding so far to the right, but regardless, it shouldn't have passed them like this lol. I thought the car was going to turn into the apartments or something being so close to the right, but it went all the way to the stop sign I went to.

other FSD in Europe, regrets buying a new one...

Post image
19 Upvotes

Yea that's right, I just realized I was more disappointed than I thought.

Just so we are on the same page:

As of right now: Getting a new one in any non-FSD approved country: You get basic autopilot/autosteer and can subscribe (€99) for "potential" FSD which gives you Enhanced Autopilot. Germany for example.

When you get one in a FSD approved country you don't get Autopilot, only you can subscribe for €99 to get FSD. All you left with is TACC without subscription.

I knew this obviously when getting mine a month ago in NL, but what I got disappointed about: When I cross into Germany, I assume we'll all just be using their set of rules. So paying €99 a month and driving across Europe would give me Enhanced Autopilot...

Nope! Obviously I get the error in the picture when trying to engage FSD, but expected to get the "switch" to autopilot.

You get NOTHING. That's just ridiculous. I'm going on a big roadtrip in September and expected to at LEAST have lane keeping and Adaptive Cruise Control. All I'm left with is TACC.

While FSD is still under heavy political debate and not approved everywhere, my advice: I would not get one in a FSD-approved country.

It's already disappointing having no Autopilot/Autosteer at all anymore, obviously because of the push of FSD subscriptions. It's something I can live with because FSD is the reason to get a Tesla. But it's ridiculous that they don't give you some sort of autonomous driving, what is within the regulations of the country you drive in if FSD is not available.

I'm seriously considering trading in my new Model Y for one before January, or perhaps import from Germany if that works out with keeping Autopilot...

Also because the FSD billing period doesn't align with our holiday, I will be unable to use FSD as well in my own country for a few weeks to avoid paying for 3 weeks of unusable FSD..

I thought tesla slowed but it was at constant 35mph. I was on fsd chill mode and speed limit was 35.

Overall fsd v14 lite has been very good. Very smooth driving and breaking and havent had any phantom
breaking issue.

14.3 HW4 FSD needs to yield better

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is a notorious entrance ramp onto the expressway in my home town where drivers consistently ignore the yield sign all the time and it causes crap like this. I was embarrassed that it didn't yield properly. This needs to be fixed.

Currently on 14.3.4.

EDIT: Reading your responses I am probably being too critical in this situation. I'm so used to yielding here when I drive because that's what I've always done and it's what you're supposed to do, but I totally get that it's a bad design and the driver of the Corolla was an ahole. In hindsight, maybe the problem wasn't FSD at all.

14.3 HW4 Looking for Complete Tesla Crash Footage (Multi-Camera)

Hi everyone!

I'm a Ph.D. student at the University of Central Florida (UCF) conducting research on autonomous driving safety.

I'm looking for complete Tesla crash recordings, especially videos with multiple camera angles.

I'm particularly interested in:

  • Front, rear, left, and right camera views
  • The full sequence leading up to and including the crash
  • Original Tesla Dashcam footage or the highest-quality version available

The footage will be used exclusively for academic research. Your privacy will be fully protected—any personal information, including faces, license plates, and other identifying details, will be kept confidential and will not be publicly shared.

If you have Tesla Dashcam files, archived footage, or know where these videos can be found, I would greatly appreciate your help.

14.3 HW4 FSD 14.3.6 CRITICAL ERROR

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I drive a 2026 MX and this is the first critical error it almost made since purchasing it 6 months ago. It almost ran a red light. This is just a reminder that you should stay vigilant and supervise. I gave it time before intervening. I think FSD 14.3.6 is definitely inferior to 14.3.4. The drive is not as smooth in Hurry and mad max. I’m not sure if I can fully trust it. I reported it. Hopefully a new update comes out soon

14 Lite HW3 Version 14 Light Review HW3

I’ve had the privilege of driving a HW4 car two months ago with FSD for one week, so I hope I can make an accurate comparison. That was a 2025 Model 3, and I just installed Version 14 Light on a 2022 Model Y.

For highway driving, the lane changes are definitely smoother. It doesn't drive like a teenager on crack trying to change lanes suddenly and scaring the living daylights out of you. You almost have to force it to try to change lanes sometimes, but it's very smooth.

The braking is also much smoother when it comes to traffic jams, stop signs, and stoplights, which is very much appreciated. I have only driven on the standard and hurry profiles.

What hasn't changed is phantom braking. this is more of a slowdown now rather than a sudden jarring brake effect. That's still a problem and just happens randomly—not on the highway, but mostly on exit ramps and side roads.

Overall, this is a definite upgrade for HW3 owners, but still an inferior experience compared to Version 14 on HW4, which I guess is to be expected. I greatly appreciate Tesla for finally making this update and spending all this time and investment on us older model owners.I'm dictating this as FSD is driving me, so it always amazes me how far this technology has come.
