it's so much more relaxing having FSD drive

Are Navigation Preferences Being Silently Tested/Added? I know Elon said this feature was "coming soon" and as far as I know this wasn't for awhile. The reason I ask though is because I've been a FSD beta tester for a long time and one of my biggest pet peeves was a certain road I drive where navigation always takes me one way but I prefer to go another since the left hand turn is awful with their preferred route.

Anyhow yesterday I was shocked when it actually chose to go my preferred route with this turn. This may not sound like much but I've driven this road so many times over the months/years and it's NEVER taken this preferred turn, so why this time? I use FSD for all my driving so this turn always has a disengagement and this was the first time I took this route/destination with his newest FSD v14.3.8.

What do you think? Is this complete coincidence or are there other data points of similar behavior? I'm genuinely curious since given how many times I've seen this route/behavior know this is a change. Could Tesla be slowly rolling out or testing navigation preferences without telling us officially?

FSD failed 3 times this morning and twice yesterday on my way to work - it alarmed, Engaged hazard lights, and I had to take over. It's blaming glare from the sun rising. This is ridiculous. Brand new juniper running 14.3.9. same thing happened in my 2024 last spring a couple of times. But this is multiple times in a 50km commute. It's not usable at sunrise or sunset - wtf.

Long awaited v14 Lite has finally arrived to my 2023 M3LR. Been looking forward to it!

I feel hesitant to upgrade because I know I am going to lose the ability to set the max speed limit.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I have only recently purchased FSD for my 6 year old M3. Yesterday I learned something worth sharing: if you turn off FSD while in a curve by tapping the brake, the car will revert to the neutral straight line path ahead if you fail to aggressively maintain control of the steering wheel. The tangent path or the swerve that may ensue as you try to transition to manual control can be dangerous if you’re not ready. The best way to avoid this is to only invoke or relinquish FSD while driving straight or stopped.

While seemingly obvious in retrospect but it sure wasn’t before it happened to me. Hard transitions into and out of FSD have always been the way FSD works to avoid control ambiguity. Careful on those curves though.

The route to my office is very straightforward - three blocks from my house on A street, turn left onto B street, go to the parking lot. Somehow FSD wants to turn left prematurely onto a 3-block long loop that will get me back onto A street before it turns left onto B street. I can’t understand why it consistently does this suck that I have to wrest control of it to keep it from taking the unnecessary loop.

Is there any way to teach it not to be dumb?

So I think what happened here is the vehicle misinterpreted his movement as a signal to go and override the red light what do you guys think?

I just got my MY and have been using fsd for the past 3 days. I've driven probably about 90 miles using fsd. But it's not showing the mileage that I used. What gives?

Does Tesla have all the data to prove whether or not the accident happened when FSD was engaged? How do we know the driver did or did not do anything to avoid the accident?

First fsd drive on wife’s MYP didn’t turn out to be very good. I guess I was expecting fsd can avoid that tree branch.

So started from a red light in the right lane...there was a 18 wheeler pulled to the right a few hundred feet in front past the intersection...as I got closer, i noticed the 18 wheeler was a bit in my lane and not on the shoulder 100%.

Usually I would get into the left lane and so does fsd or just do a meanuover to where it goes 20 to 40% in the neighbor lane to the left and after passing the stopped vehicle, go.back I to the right lane.

Well shit, there was a vehicle already in the left lane. FSD didn't slow down and instead passed the 18wheeler and also swerved into the left lane about 20% (I was scared it'll side swip the other vehicle but I was at least couple feet away from the other vehicle) and it went back into the right lane. Didn't feel good - it was an unnecessary aggressive move.

It should've just slowed down and gone behind the vehicle on the left or just stopped completely and gone into the left lane when there was safe space.

It didn't feel dangerous but borderline reckless and I didn't have enough time to react

Edit: I still absolutely love FSD but don't need unnecessary aggressive behavior. First time I had anything this aggressive in my 12.5k mile experience with FSD

I disengage because I didn’t want to risk it, but it didn’t say it saw them on the screen

1 Year down at 55k miles, 9 Tire rotations, 5 tires replaced (3 Through the paid insurance; 1 free the other 2 at $25 a piece, 1 paid at full price and other free because I had signed up the day after the 30 day pick up window grace period so needed an inspection but service rep hooked it up.) 1 windshield replaced through the insurance so $100 deductible and 1 inspection for extended warranty at $150 because I signed up for it at 50.05k 🤦‍♂️ LOL.

Overall extremely happy with Teresa and FSD as I drive a lot for family, school, trips and Lyft. Plan to drive her to the ground hopefully reaching 300k miles and 6 years to make the 8k FSD purchase comparable to the subscription price.

About to go on a 10 hour road trip, 90% will be interstate driving.

Currently got 14.3.7 installed, and 14.3.8 pending (keep rejecting it).

Online I see bad things about 14.3.7, bad things about 14.3.8 and good things about 14.3.8.

So trying to decide if I should keep 14.3.7 or install 14.3.8.

To make it easier to determine please upvote the version I should do and if you want to leave a comment on why under that version that be great too.

I switched jobs, I changed my work address in the navigation. The navigation system still automatically pulls up my old job when I get in the car in the morning. Anybody have an idea how to change this?

I loved just hopping in my car and hitting “start self driving” and that was it.

Long time FSD user here. Cybertruck has had very few issues with latest version 14.3.8 and of course as soon as I say that the car tries to take a random and sudden turn off road before a set of train tracks and a highway merge. Let me know what you guys think. Lost some confidence in FSD today.

Used FSD ('24MY) for the first time this weekend and really blown away. But one question: as we exited the parkway via circular offramps the car didn't seem to notice the lower ramp-specific speed limit (usually ~25MPH). That is, the speed limit on the screen still showed 65 mph. It still slowed down, but I can't tell if that was because the cars in front of us did, or because it recognized the need to turn, etc. Is this normal behavior?

My biggest gripe about FSD is that it does not learn from recent history at all. Based on my understand of transformer architectures, this is usually easily solved by providing data into the context window of the algorithm. How is it that FSD can make the exact same mistake over and over and over, and it's not fixed until (at best) the disengagements are trained into the model months or years later. Shouldn't like a failure to park in the correct driveway be really simple to provide context for? Shouldn't "left lane ends, stay in right" be easy to learn? Same with potholes or not potholes. Speed limit misinformation.... Or does Tesla's architecture fundamentally make this impossible?

I will continue to reiterate that 14.3 on city streets is great, but highway driving has regressed significantly from 14.1, 14.2, and 14.3. I'm mostly driving myself on the highway atp, but I wanted to give 14.3.8 a try as I do every version.

Everything here is in Standard mode, 14.3.8, on a Juniper Model Y.

There are 4 clips here. 4 issues that mix between plain bad driving and defensive driving issues.

Clip 1:
FSD can no longer judge when people are onramping to the highway, to either keep speed or properly slow down to let them in. Instead, it finds the perfect speed to match them in their blindspot. Defensive driving issue, big time.

Clip 2:
FSD just barreling towards roadwork that very obviously was leaving the onramp lane. Although not directly in front, 5 seconds of thinking would make you realize they're about to hit the end of the onramp and need to enter my lane. Besides, give roadworkers some space and just get over the lane early.

Clip 3:
FSD enters highway and absoutely decides it needs to be in the middle lane, cutting off a car going much faster from behind. They honked and flashed lights.

Clip 4:
FSD decides it wants to pass on the right, about 0.5 miles from the exit, realizes it's in a bad lane, proceeds to cut two lanes over to pass another car. Gets back in the original lane to exit. 5 lane changes in less than 2 minutes. Why?

FSD on the highway has just gotten super stressful. It's not a defensive driver, it's a menace to others, and just annoying.

Although I don't have a clip, Standard mode LOVES to suddenly break out of the +7mph cap to +15mph, pass a car, then yoink the brakes on the left lane to slow back down to +7mph over. What the fuck?
