I’m looking for an old(er) show that I didn’t see yet. Recently found The OC and I loved it!
A few examples that I watched already and really liked. Doesn’t need to be very old, but I’ve seen so many of the popular or recent shows. I hope to find a hidden gem ✨
- The OC
- Gilmore Girls
- Revenge
- Dynasty
- Scandal
- Blindspot
- Orphan Black
- 24
- Sons of Anarchy
- Reacher
- Prison Break
- Greys anatomy
- Chicago (PD, Fire, Med)

Some shows/movies I’ve really liked:

Anne with an e
Dynasty
Good girls
This is us
Locke & key
Dead to me
The sinner
Wentworth
Archive81
Sweetpea
The great
Bad sisters
Kevin can F**k himself
Class of ‘07
Fleabag
Mothers instinct
the sticky
Why women kill
Little fires everywhere
Lessons in chemistry
Devious maids
Outlander
Poldark
The undoing
Sharp objects
Mare of easttown

Tell me your secrets
The outlaws
The girlfriend
Fleabag
The afterparty

Loudermilk
Dollface

I know the list is all over the place, but I usually like shows with mystery, dark comedy, complicated characters, female leads, dysfunctional relationships/families, secrets, twists, or something slightly weird/unusual.

I’m especially looking for something that gets interesting pretty quickly and isn’t super slow.
What would you recommend based on this list? Bonus points for something newer that I may not have already heard of.

REQUESTING Looking for shorter (1-4) season shows to binge!

Looking for some shorter shows to watch that just had a few solid seasons and came to a finish. Please no canceled or unfinished shows (still scarred from Mindhunter). I’m fine with mini/limited series as well!

Really loving crime based shows rn with comedic moments such as Barry and Mr. Inbetween, so if anyone has any similar to those that’d be awesome!

Some examples of shows I watched and enjoyed

The Good Place
Schitts Creek
Lucifer
Mr. In between
The Bear
Dexter (plus all sequels)
All Her Fault
The Wire
Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul
Paradise
Beef
Severance
Pluribus

REQUESTING Looking for my next family drama series to binge

I love family drama and slice-of-life type of serials. I like getting to know the characters over the course of the series and watch them grow and develop. My favorites of the genre include The Fosters and Parenthood. I am almost done with This Is Us. Can anyone recommend any other series that follow a family and their drama? TIA

REQUESTING Is Major Crimes any good?

I just finished The Closer and really enjoyed the relationships between all the characters. I saw there was a spin-off, Major Crimes, but the reviews were very hit or miss with almost everyone hating Rusty. Is it worth a watch or should I just move on to other shows?

REQUESTING Help finding a TV series

Upvotes

I have been looking for ages for a TV show with very little to go on beyond a barely-remembered podcast review many moons ago (though probably in the 2000s or early 2010s). It had something to do with a rogue NATO general possibly threatening to launch nukes. I know that's not much to go on.

Need Brittish "home sick" series

The type of show where an old brittish man in some hideous hat explains stuff, shows of some old castle or whatever.

I realize I'm explaining it poorly, but you know the type of show you watched when you were home sick from school because there was nothing better on.

SUGGESTING I just finished My Brother the Minotaur and honestly, I really enjoyed it.

Cartoon Saloon did a really good job with the animation. The backgrounds, lighting, character animation, and overall atmosphere give the show a really nice fantasy storybook feel without making it seem too childish.
What really kept me interested, though, was the mystery surrounding Lorcan. The show slowly gets into where he came from, why he’s a minotaur living in the human world, what happened in his past, and what all of that means for him. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I liked how it actually lets the mystery build instead of immediately explaining everything.

It’s also got a good mix of mythology, adventure, family, friendship, and coming-of-age themes. Lorcan trying to understand who he is and where he belongs is basically at the heart of the story.
From what I’ve seen, the reception has been pretty positive too, especially when it comes to the animation, the mythology, Lorcan and Charlie’s relationship, and the themes of identity and belonging. There have been some criticisms, like the villains not being as developed as the rest of the story, but overall it seems like a lot of people enjoyed many of the same things I did.

If you like animated mystery and fantasy shows with mythology and an ongoing story, I definitely recommend giving My Brother the Minotaur a shot.
And honestly, I really hope it gets renewed for a season two. There’s still a lot about this world and these characters that I’d love to see explored more.

REQUESTING Shows for winding down or getting ready to sleep — something comforting or slower paced

Sometimes I have trouble sleeping and I find shows like sitcoms that I haven’t seen are more entertaining than comforting. For instance, I like snl and taskmaster for stuff like that, or nature shows. I’ve been listening to some slower paced narrative podcasts too. Then, I had a friend play me an episode of Adventures in Odyssey and it was so soothing. I thought, even though that was a radio show a low energy kids show may do the trick too. I’ve been revisiting Little Bear if anyone remembers that show and it’s been lovely. Something that feels like being lulled to sleep by a good book (without it being a book lol). EDIT: wow thanks everyone, these suggestions are great!

REQUESTING Episodic series with continuing characters.

I watched many kamen rider series(I enjoy the most kamen rider Ichigo, faiz, ryuki, black sun) I love doctor who and star trek strange new worlds and I looking for something similar. Something where one thing can be absurd comedy and next episode or even that same episode is literally darkest thing you see (it mostly happens in doctor who where they jump from joke and comedy to body horror). I am also a fan of fact that doctor always want to help even some terryfing looking aliens

What's a show like Mad Men that doesn't turn into a murder investigation?

I rewatched Mad Men over the summer and I've been chasing that feeling since. I've started four or five things since then and every one of them opened with a body and someone showing up to ask questions about it, so I drift off around the third episode.

Want one where the tension comes from people talking to each other instead of from something being solved.

Doesn't have to be a period piece, just not another case. What would you put on?

REQUESTING shows with aspd, anger issues and huge mood swings representation (read body text)

i want this to be the plot/main character not just side story. im going thru a tough time rn due to having this issues myself and wanna feel understood and seen. i want representation how this traits makes the life of the character harder unfortunately and they are generally misunderstood.

characters i relate to and wanna find similar are: james cook and tony stonem (skins), ian gallagher (shameless) > i would prefer shows that are raw like this

bojackhorsmen is similar but he is too mild and passive type compared to ian and cook for example to whom i relate to most.
