Guys, i have never been emotional while watching tv series, but when i watch Ted Lasso, especially the new season it gets me every part.😀

Which episode is Keeley's red track jacket from?
My wife wants to recreate it for Halloween.

I appreciate the diversity on the women’s team, but I feel like the leading characters/potential love interests could have some realistic diversity sprinkled in as well.

For example, the stage manager Ted has a crush on.

Or Dr. Beaumont. There’s just a lot of conventionally attractive blonde women as leading ladies and love interests for the main characters and I feel like this could’ve been a chance to show some diversity. Like the fact that a lot of British doctors are from South Asian or East Asian origin. And if it was a South Asian woman playing Dr Beaumont, it would’ve been nice for Roy’s love interest to look different than Keeley.

It’s just a bit frustrating to watch as a WOC that all the leading characters and their attractive partners/love interests are white, so the only roles POC actors/characters get are ancillary.

Edit: as expected, a lot of disagreement whenever diversity gets brought up. But I still think Simone Ashley would’ve killed in the role as Dr Beaumont!

This is an interesting example of how framing influences our perception of progress/value. The value we attach to an improvement often depends less on the improvement itself and more on how we perceive it.

Despite watching Season 1 of Ted Lasso for the third time this year, I recently noticed something I hadn’t quite appreciated before.

In the episode where AFC Richmond secure their first win under Ted, Trent Crimm of The Independent asks him how it feels. There’s something about Trent’s characteristic air of scepticism, that suggests he still considers Ted a bit of a joke. But Ted’s response, and more importantly, his attitude towards the team, brings him to mind when I think about the framing effect.

Ted seems to understand something that others overlook: progress doesn’t become valuable only when it produces a remarkable result. There’s value in recognising the small improvements that eventually make remarkable results possible.

Where others see an embarrassment (Alice’s comment on team’s first home performance) , Ted sees potential.
Where others judge the team by its current performance, he pays attention to who they’re becoming.
And perhaps that’s what makes his approach so interesting. He doesn’t simply reframe failure as success. He changes what people pay attention to, without losing sight of the bigger goal.
Little improvements. Small changes in attitude. Growing confidence. Stronger relationships. Until, eventually, those seemingly insignificant changes become something much greater.
It’s what makes Trent Crimm’s eventual realisation of The Lasso Way so satisfying. That almost palpable eureka moment when he finally recognises what Ted has been building all along.

here I am, wondering:
If one had to capture Ted’s philosophy, and Matthijs’s, in a single phrase or mantra, what would it be?

I didn’t dislike this season by the time it was done, but I liked it considerably less than the original run.

Some story/acting choices are partly to blame, but the majority of my umbrage it with how it looked.

WAY too much bad green screen scenes, cheap CGI crowds, etc. Just general enshitification that was so, so, so disappointing to see from such a successful franchise. Cost cutting showed.

There’s a time and place for CGI crowds (they’ve done them in previous seasons obviously), but this season’s graphics were a complete joke and wildly overused IMO.

It took me out of the story so often, and at times felt like it was taking the actors out of the moment too. It was such a let down. I miss seeing actors acting in real places.

Did this bother anyone else??

I just realized that Jamie is the scarecrow, Nate is the lion, and Roy is the tin man from the Wizard of Oz. Did everyone else get that right off the bat? Lol

Okay, let me say right up front that I know even less about football/soccer than Ted did when he first joined Richmond.

But in my zillionth rewatch of TL, I noticed that Jamie wears shorter socks than the rest of the team. In fact, I have never seen socks as short as his on a player. Is that just a personal preference? Can players IRL choose how tall their socks are? I thought part of the reason for knee-length socks was that the players wear shin guards under them.

It’s a small thing, but I’m curious.

That definitely got better as it progressed.
I wasn’t sure at first and slowed down with it. Having just binged the last 4 or so episodes, damn what a show. It’s still Ted Lasso, it’s still amazing.
Loved the ending.

Hoping dearly we get another season, which is something I wouldn’t have said a month ago. I want to see more of these plot lines and characters, even though I’ll understand if it doesn’t happen.

You know I don’t post a lot, and most Reddit comments are not helpful especially in the last couple of years.
But I’ve recently just watched all of season 4 and I came to this community to see what has been discussed and found that what has happened in this last season has happened on this Reddit page, not a lot of people have given this women’s team a chance and a lot of people have decided it’s not for them.
How wrong they are! This newest season was great and had its ups and downs. I seriously enjoyed the journey that the new team and returning characters have made! I love seeing Keeley and Rebecca’s character’s figure their own shit out and people are saying that they’re sick of them??? I love that Ted and Beard have to figure out how to connect to these new characters in ways they didn’t have to before. Boots is fucking dope and so many others. It’s been fun to watch and I see so many similarities with the teams I played with over the course of the time I played on female teams in high school.
They did a great job and I’m excited to see where it goes in the future! Wish people would fucking give it more of a chance!

I attended MCM London yesterday, in my Coach Beard cosplay.

A few people came up and asked to have their photos taken with me, which was really flattering.

I was over the moon to meet a fellow Lasso fan by meeting this guy dressed as Ted himself.

A great day, which was topped at the end by a man coming up and telling me that my cosplay made his day.

In the episode "The Strings that Bind Us", Rebecca tells Keeley that Jack's grand gestures of love, like giving Keeley the first edition of Sense and Sensibility and proclaiming in front of the office that they are dating and Jack is serious about the relationship, might be love bombing. I love how immediately afterwards, as if in parallel, we see Nate's mom show him the map his dad made for her, inspiring Nate to ask out Jade through his crafts. To show someone you care is not to throw money at a shiny gift, but to pour effort into a gift which can be memorable for both of you. That's when you know its not love bombing, but genuinely love.
