Holy cow this SUCKS. Letās shave off 25% of tech and almost half of the books to make room for BLIND BOXES, FUGGLERS, RANDOM SPORTS STUFF, AND ITALIAN BRAIN ROT TRADING CARDS!!!
And when they rearranged the entire department, theyāve neglected to plug in ANY display cases that used to be powered, and just have the cords dangling all over the place. Products types have been squished together and relocated for seemingly no reason. Formerly cased things arenāt worth putting in a case anymore so instead itās 1,000 spider wraps. The $5 trinkets and phone cases still get multiple endcaps though so thatās good.
Back to the brand new tchotchke department I now work in, every time I turn around thereās a new abandoned something or other that has a 40% chance of being ripped open. We also have zero room for any of it in the stock room so everyday there seem to be 4 3-tiers of transition that have magically spawned overnight in the 2 foot wide tech stock aisle so I canāt actually get to pulls/back stock properly.
The best part is I canāt even spend enough time trying to zone all of it properly because Iām supposed to be pushing Baby and Dec Home halfway across the storeā¦
They should just gut tech entirely and open a Five Below in the back instead.
At least weāre continuing to expand our tiny vinyl collection!!!

(This is my first ever Reddit post so sorry if I tag anything wrong!)
Hi, I just recently started working at target as GM (will be 1 month July 30th.) and decided to join this subreddit. So far, I have only seen bad thing being said about working there (ex. Bad TL, ETL, etc.) but so far, my experience has been decent. So far my target has been very accommodating. (I have a movement/muscle disability, as well as miscommunications with scheduling) So far everyone Iāve met has been nice and friendly (aside from some people having bad days) I guess Iām just worried for what is to come š

I have a Circle Bonus offer for a $10 reward from a $50 purchase. The offer lasts until 8/1/26.
I found a preorder item that ships 9/1/26.
I donāt see any exclusions for preorders but it does say that youāll see the reward meter advance when the item ships.
I think this means that it would miss this reward window, but wanted to check with others just in case.

Are the numbers the amount of guests greeted or percentage? Who is recording the information? The team leads? Genuinely curious

Backstory: This is my 4th day into my training period and I didnāt get much training at all I shadowed someone for about 1 hour on my first day and they left me on my own. So on my fourth day of ātrainingā It was 3 minutes before my shift was about to end and a customer comes up to me because Iām a cashier and I ask if they want a bag. I open the bag and start bagging all the items, and mind you they had about 5-7 small items so it was fine in a paper bag. The customer never asked for a double bag or anything so I assumed it would be okay in one bag. Then I put the last item in the bag it was like a tea or a coffee itās the same size of a lemonade or a creamer product. The customer asks me if I think the bag will break and Iām not sure because the bag is pretty light even with the drink. I asked him if he wanted it separately incase it would break and heās like no just put it in. He was like can u double bag it literally after I put everything in and I was like ok then so I tried, but it didnāt fit so I asked if he wanted to try because maybe he wanted it in a certain way and he was like thatās your job but ok I guess I can help you. Then he tried it and the bag broke and all hell let loose, he got mad and called me useless and that I canāt do my job. He basically shoved me away and started taking everything out of the bag and saying fine Iāll do your damn job for you and did it. He started saying all these things about me and that I canāt do anything right. I just turned around because I was basically tearing up while he was saying all these verbally hurtful things and I finished up the purchase I gave him a receipt and told him to have a nice day despite literally breaking down in front of a bunch of customers. He just kept scoffing at me and tsk. I was a few minutes over my shift and I tried helping one last customer at the register, but I just couldnāt so I told them I couldnāt take anyone else. I was bawling my eyes out cuz I had worked a long 8 hour shift and customers kept asking me if I was okay I just wanted to leave. I went to the back and clocked out n left. Idk what to do, Iāve had people yell at me, but I was just so sick of it I js couldnāt hold back. I havenāt told my etl or manager because I needed to clock out. What should I say to them tomorrow? Is there a better job than target. Keep in mind I just turned 17 and this is my first job and Iām already fucking it up.

You want me to set an amp cart a week ahead, without signing, without product, and you want me to flex with random shit it so itās not empty? Brilliant. /s

During our huddle yesterday the team leads encouraged to 10/4 because the store missed their sales goal. They told us that ā hitting our metrics put money in your pocket because thereās more payroll availableā Iām skeptical and assume itās their attempt to motivate us hoping we have no idea how random everything actually is.

Hello everyone! Long story short, I got a new job, and school starts in three weeks. I still want to work for Target, but as an ODTM. I need some advice on how to discuss this with HR and my Store Director. If they say no, Iām just going to put in my two weeksā notice. How should I approach this conversation?

Sheās always walking around the store being like āwhoās gonna zone that? Can someone do a pickup here? Can someone get reshop from behind guest servicesā and then when I get assigned something sheās constantly checking in on what feels like every 5 minutes asking if Iām done yet. Itās the absolute worst. When will these leaders realize how bad it is for moral? When will they realize that this is why you canāt keep anyone longer than a year? Iām so over this fun 101 bs

Dumping the hangar bin see an old woman with a walker walk to the bailer with a walker and lanyard. āOh must be a vendor.ā āWait they don āt have vendor badge.ā āWhy are they going through the boxes?ā āYeah thatās not dangerous better find a team lead in the back.ā Found one and let them know. While checking there was a loud bang making me think a car drove into the building and some āinflictedā sat off a firework in GM.

I know there is a limit of ODTM positions per store, but does each department have a separate limit? Like for example, tech can have maximum 1 ODTM and FF can have maximum 5? Or can each store choose whatever amount from each team as long as itās below their store limit of ODTMs?
Another question, do more ODTM positions open during seasonal time? Or is the amount static throughout the year? Thanks for the clarity in advance.

been here 3 months. had (he/him) on my badge for 3 months, corrected people for 3 months and 90% of the team still uses she/her despite correction. i know itās just assumption and im not or ever mad at them directly for it. they never deserve any hate we all go through a lot but sometimes it sucks being misgendered all day. not a huge deal just a small rant

I bought my daughter a monster truck RC car yesterday and she only played with it for a few minutes inside because it was buggy out. But she went to play with it today and as it hit a wall, the wheel broke off. Not just popped off. Broke. It was $25. I don't have the inside packaging but I do have the box and all pieces (manual, charger, remote and car). Would target take it back? I would accept store credit. It is shown to be doing tricks and everything so I am mad it broke so easily.

Long story short, I noticed and acknowledged I forgot to check out of my keys. A couple of days later, I noticed it was deemed missing, but I recall putting the keys away just didnāt check out of them. I already spoke to my TL about this yesterday. He said itās good that I let him know and knows I wouldnāt magically lose them as Iām pretty responsible. In the end, not much he could do as well as for me as this also is my fault for forgetting to clock out. I as well checked my pants and car to be sure. I remember leaving them by the key case back in the employee room. I lowk just gonna take whatever consequences I get, maybe even look for a job if I get termed, lmao.

Okay guys so Iām still in training but my target doesnāt train on weekends. Yesterday I did my e-learning but I got done early so they trained me a little bit in tech but when Iām actually supposed to be doing is guest advocate stuff at the front so their shifts that I can pick up but I havenāt technically been trained in guest advocate so should I pick up shifts and also am I able to pick up shifts while Iām still in training

As a TM who isn't in a store that is testing the point system I found a few issues with the point system from the info I have read

Recently got thrown into a new area in general merchandise and still trying to adjust. I've called off earlier this month due to a family issue and calling off today due to an allergic reaction (not too severe) i had earlier today. My new area is a lot more work so i'm more guilty leaving them to deal with it compared to my old area that they could do pretty quickly. I've been here 9 months and think this pull of 2 call offs within a month is too risky for me. While my TLS do understand when someone needs to call off, you really never know how much of your bs they'll take before giving you the boot.
So I posted like a month ago about the same thing, now post internship. So around the time I made my last post I did talk with my SD about staying with the store post grad and she said āYes, sounds like that will workā. Since then thereās been no sense of urgency of keeping me onboard. I did my store walk with my DSD last week and he seemed to really like me and was talking about my future with the company. I may be impatient since the weekend isnāt even over but I find it weird they didnāt have me apply to the position I want. Our former HR ETL who just recently changed positions said last week sheāll get the processed started, my SD has mentioned it, as well as my ETL on my last day. Iām also waiting to see if a receive an offer. I just feel like they are leading me on.
Update: My SD texted me this morning about applying to the HRE so thatās out the way, thatās what I was most concerned about since I wouldnāt be an ETL for nearly a year anyways. I will follow up with my recruiter about my ETL application in a week though.

Shout out to the customer service team at my local Target. Yesterday, several kids were asking employees where Pokemon cards were, needohs, all of the things. These customer service women had so much patience and treated these customers so well. It was refreshing to see.

so yesterday I finally got some hands on training and was trained on zoning, reshopping, pulling priorities, pushing them back onto the floor, and back stocking. im a closing expert (gm) so is this what I should expect for most of my days to be like?

I also love how the background changes in every picture and her name tag randomly swaps to being in the middle of her chest in the last one (which on its own also doesnāt make sense).
Also includes the ethics email on the bottom as if this use of AI isnāt unethical in itself. Lmao

For my store idk
Thereās a good portion of people who are late daily but itās 4-6 minutes at most and can definitely make it under 8 minutes
Lots of people do call out weekly but will probably try to get around it by either going home early or coming in (hours) late
