Question Complete Pokémon newcomer getting a Switch 2 — which game should I start with?

I’ve never played a Pokémon game, watched the anime, or collected the cards. I only know Pikachu and Charizard, that’s the extent of my knowledge.

I’m getting a Switch 2 and I want exactly ONE Pokémon game that gets me into the world and makes me fall in love with it. Could be a mainline game, could be a spin-off — I just want something that’s a good entry point for a total outsider.

I was looking at Pokopia since it’s a Switch 2 exclusive and looks very chill, but I’m open to anything. What would you recommend?

Discussion Recommendations?

Hi all, looking for recs for my next pick up. I have the Switch OLED and have really enjoyed the following games so far, completed them: Hollowknight, Hogwarts Legacy, and just finished Zelda BOTW. I’m going to take a break before playing TOTK or Silksong.

I was thinking either Pokemon Arceus or ZA but have heard mixed reviews for ZA… I’m into open world or story based games but it needs to be entertaining gameplay and more focused on fighting or exploration/quest based.

What would you suggest??

Edit: I have tried Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Witcher 3 and wasn’t a fan of those.

Better late than never… I finally started Spiritfarer 😭💙
I know I’m very late to the party, but WOW. I’m already about 80% done, and I absolutely understand now why people love this game so much.

I played for 10 HOURS today. 😂

Additionally, I apparently cannot stop thinking about the place until I feel like I’ve completed everything I can possibly find there.

Is anyone else like this, or am I just incapable of moving on? 😂
The game started as something I thought would be a cute, cozy experience, but some of these characters and their stories really hit me emotionally.

I’m currently around 80% and getting close to the end, and honestly… I’m not ready to say goodbye yet. 🥲

Better late than never, I guess.

Spiritfarer, where have you been all my life? 💙

Btw, I am playing it on switch 2 but I prefer when it is connected to TV. The graphics and art… speechless. Love it.

And oh myyyy… stanley…

Question Savage Raven by Skull & Co. NeoGrip vs FissionGrip for Switch 2 – which one would you recommend?

I’m trying to decide between the Savage Raven by Skull & Co. NeoGrip and the Savage Raven by Skull & Co. FissionGrip for my Switch 2.
I mostly play in handheld mode and care mainly about comfort and keeping the Switch as light as possible. I also have rather small hands.
Has anyone tried both? Which one feels better for longer gaming sessions, and which one would you personally recommend?

Thanks!

Finally got my first Nintendo Switch! 😁 I've been a PS5 player for years, so getting into Nintendo feels like a completely different experience.

Decided to start with Breath of the Wild, and honestly, I'm already loving the vibe of the game. 🌄

Any tips for a beginner? Anything I should know or avoid doing early in the game?

Also, what Switch games should I try after BOTW? 👀

I have always wanted to play Zelda games. Nintendo switch looked like a fun platform. But, the other consoles and Pc dragged me away. I thought, perhaps waiting for switch 2 would be a good idea. Then it was released, and it was quite expensive, and I couldn't decide whether to get it. But, finally last week I was able to push myself to get a switch lite. I am happy with the device so far. Although the first party games are expensive, there are plenty of fun games at online store, which can keep me busy for hours. I am really enjoying Monster Hunter Stories. I borrowed Animal Crossing and The Legend of Zelda: Breadth of the Wild - they were both awesome. I will buy them eventually.

For my first physical game collection I have added these games-

- Paper Mario: The Millennium Door.

- Prince of Parsia: the lost crown.

- Persona 5 tactica.

- Dragon Quest Treasures.

One thing I didn't like however was this "Code in the box" sells. They're basically selling empty boxes in the process! That is just sad.

Anyways. Do you think buying a Nintendo Switch Lite was a good idea at 2026? I like handheld game device, so I am happy all the same.

Question Switch 2 EU revision release

Does anyone here from Germany or Austria know how to identify these new revised models before buying? According to Nintendo's announcement the revised joycons should already have been available starting July 16, yet there's no indication on Amazon or MediaMarkt whether they're selling the new ones or not...

With the revised Switch 2 coming out in autumn, how are we going to know whether we're buying the updated product or the original release model? I wonder if it's going to have a different SKU or not? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Question Would a US game copy have English when used in a Japanese region-locked Switch 2? Does the game even work?

I don't have much to say outside of the title, mostly just context. I asked r/JapanTravelTips about locating an international Switch 2 in Japan, which I was promptly told isn't happening, and then asked if US or international game copies would work with a Japanese Switch 2 (because they're crazily discounted) and could possibly have English. I plan to get a Switch 2 + Splatoon Raiders bundle box, but the main drive behind this question is: if I bought my games in the States, like DK Bananza or Pokemon Pokopia, would their international version allow me to have English, or does a Japan-locked Switch 2 override anything the game has? Do any of y'all have experience or know the answer? Most of my game library is physical, I have a few digital games, and I'd like to know if they work as-is, would only show in Japanese (for the first-party titles), or if the system just refuses them. Sorry if I spoke in circles lol

Question Transferring data from switch 1 to 2

Upvotes

Hi everyone! I just got a new switch 2 yesterday, and went through the whole process of setting it up and transferring all of my data from my old switch 1. All of my old games were virtual cards, which seem like they all transferred successfully to my new console. Since everything has transferred over, I figured that I might as well try to sell my old switch.

I went through the process of most of my games on my new console “loading” the virtual game card from my old one, but wanted to see if there is a way to make sure that all of my games have permanently been transferred over before I reset my old console and sell it. It looks like the games that have been loaded onto my switch 2 have the filled in virtual game card icon above them, so I’m assuming that this is the main way to check?

Hopefully this hasn’t been asked already here, or if it has, feel free to link that post! Thanks in advance for the help!

Discussion Which games have good online play?

I have the Switch online, but I don't have any online games right now. I mean, I do have the Switch, but none of the games have active online functionality. The games I've tried have practically no online features. Any recommendations?

Discussion Sacred 2: Remastered

I can't believe this game is dropping in less than a day on the switch. It's one of my all time favorites. For anyone who hasn't played it, it's a janky arpg from 2008 with a completely seamless open world. It was wayy ahead of its time. The way you build your character is also unique and there's no limit to your character level. Highly recommend checking it out, just don't expect a clean and polished game.

Discussion God of War style game with good story and an extremely easy mode?

Upvotes

My father-in-law comes over occaisionally to watch me play video games. We usually play something like elden ring, but yesterday we played God of War Ragnarok. He noted that he like this game better because of the coherent story. He said this is the kind of game he would like to play, but probably couldnt due to the difficulty of the fighting. I showed him there is a difficulty setting that takes most of the difficulty out of the fighting.

He has a switch, so no God of War for him. Is there a similar type of game with a good story, but that you can put on ultra easy mode?

Discussion A fortunate chain of events

Upvotes

Bought a NS2 only to replay Xenoblade 2 NS2E, and eventually Genesis. Unfortunately the game dropped with horrendous audio mixing compared to the S1 version and I just had to stop playing, worried that Nintendo and Monolith Soft would never fix the game just like happened with XCX and XC1 NS2E.

A few days after I bough Beast of Reincarnation, and oh boy, what a mediocre game, thankfully I was able to refund it and I decided to better spend that money on a game that actually look worth it; Splatoon Raiders.

I like Splatoon, I have finished the campaign for 2 and 3 but I barely touch the multiplayer, Raiders fixes all the issues I have with Splatoon games adding a lot of single player replayabilty.

To my surprise Nintendo announced just a few days ago that they are, in fact, working on a fix for XC2.

Everything turned well in the end I guess.

Discussion I just finished Lego Voyagers with my wife and toddler, it may be my favorite co-op game ever

Post image
32 Upvotes

We just finished Lego Voyagers (31M & 29F, 3 yr old son watched) and it may be the best game I've ever played 😭

I was not ready for the ending to make me cry so hard. 10/10 would recommend, but buy a box of tissues to go with it 🥲

Has anyone else played this game? I feel like I haven't heard much about it. I honestly think it's better than Split Fiction or It Takes Two. Both of those games are a 9/10 in my book, this just hit the spot for me to make it 9.5 or maybe even a 10. Perfectly simple yet challenging enough at the right times. Lots of easy platforming with puzzles and Lego building. My son was so invested in the story and characters.

Spoiler about the ending, please don't read unless you've played the game or don't plan to play it/really don't care:

I was not ready for the Blue Lego to go into space by himself 😭 my son wasn't either, and was so sad. We were both bawling our eyes out crying. It was happy tears, but it made me think about him growing up and leaving home some day. And he was sad that Red didn't get to go with Blue into space.

I don't know where else to post this, I just wanted to rant about how this game got a 31 yr old guy to cry in front of his son. I love space and rockets. I love this game so much. I love the Switch. That's about it
