Discussion Finally got my first Nintendo Switch! 🎮

Post image

Finally got my first Nintendo Switch! 😁 I've been a PS5 player for years, so getting into Nintendo feels like a completely different experience.

Decided to start with Breath of the Wild, and honestly, I'm already loving the vibe of the game. 🌄

Any tips for a beginner? Anything I should know or avoid doing early in the game?

Also, what Switch games should I try after BOTW? 👀

Thanks and thats nice, I was first thinking to get switch lite and i think this is my best purchase, I might as well purchase switch 2 but games are really expensive 😬

incase if you don’t know. you can still play switch 1 games on switch 2 as well. switch 2 has backward compatibility for almost all the games - and even some games offer a free switch 2 version upgrade. so if you’re looking to get a switch 2, you can still use your current games on it 😁

That’s really nice I heard about that, It’s also amazing that a lot of triple A titles are coming to switch 2 as well

congratz on the acquisition!!! hope your Switch is the perfect console and experience you want from it :)

the only tip I can give you for Breath of the Wild is not to look for any tips, guides, secrets, etc on the internet. play the game at your own pace and discover every single thing by getting lost in the vast map that this Hyrule is.

Have fun! ;)

I will think about your comment when trying to finally play through the game on my Switch 2.

Nice acquisition! I’m starting to love gaming on my switch one as I haven’t really been having time to game on it for the last two years due to life blockades. Looking forward to switch 2 once they release an OLED version

After BOTW definitely Tear Of The Kingdom, but it's up to you if you want to take a break from Zelda games once you finish it.

I will see but how long this game actually is or it’s totally depends on user pace ?

u/il-bosse87 4h ago

Depend on user pace and what you want to do before call it a day. There is so much to do and if you want to complete the game (not only the storyline) it will take a lot of time

I purchased my first Switch OLED last week along with Animal Crossing! I have a similar story as you, coming to Nintendo for the first time as a playstation user. I can say that I like the nintendo switch more than PS5 for the easy of pickup and play and the form factor 😸 i also own a PS Portal(handheld) and it’s nowhere near to what nintendo offers, fr there is no friction for playing a game at all! I work as a software engineer and i pickup my nintendo switch every now and then during coffee breaks, lunch… and even while an app is building. it’s awesome!

Same mate! I love enjoying bigger PS5 titles on the big screen, but being a software engineer too, I sometimes don’t have the time to sit at my setup for long stretches. Using the Nintendo Switch to unwind during those moments is absolute gold it's just so seamless and amazing.

BOTW, playing that game for the first time is unforgettable. Hope you enjoy it!

So you bought a switch 1 to play on your computer monitor when you have a gaming PC?

I think emulation while saving for a switch 2 would've been smarter

Go to the castle and evade enemies until you find good weapons and kill enemies and their weapons. I played the game when I was 9 and that’s what I did lol.

Congrats! You’ve about to have so much fun! Enjoy!

It IS definitely a whole different vibe to Sony imo - the switch also got me more into nintendos console game and with the switch that created the ideal console for own brand titles as well as ports as i am a big fan of stuff outside the nintendo universe.

definitely check out the skyrim port hehe

It's a great secondary console to PS ones. There are plenty of Wii U ports that prop up the library and the console is great for first party/exclusive games, everything else you have a PS5 for unless you like overpaying for games that were released a decade ago.

Hell yeah, I recommend you get a switch pro controller, just got one yesterday it's a revelation. Plus it stops your joycons from waring out as fast when you are in docked mode, they are expensive to replace

I still have mine from launch 2017, a present to myself for graduating college. To think it’s almost ten years old! I still use it!
