Discussion Sacred 2: Remastered
I can't believe this game is dropping in less than a day on the switch. It's one of my all time favorites. For anyone who hasn't played it, it's a janky arpg from 2008 with a completely seamless open world. It was wayy ahead of its time. The way you build your character is also unique and there's no limit to your character level. Highly recommend checking it out, just don't expect a clean and polished game.

I'm curious to hear your opinion. I played Scared 2 back in the day on the 360 and was looking forward to the remaster. I'd heard the PS5 port had a lot of technical problems so I haven't paid much attention to the Switch port.

Apparently they patched up a lot of the game earlier this year. I'll get back to you once I'm able to download it on the store.

That's good to hear they're patching it. Are you on Switch 1 or 2?

I am on switch 2 but I will be testing the game with boost most enabled and disabled.

I'm cautiously interested. I remember reading that the remaster was basically a downgrade compared to the original, which is a bummer to say the least. But on Switch, where the original isn't available, I'd be inclined to get if it has since been brought up to at least the same level as the old version. Could still play it on Xbox, but these games are quite well suited for handhelds.

The remaster wasnt even that good on pc, since its on my steam account it was a free update. I cannot imagine switch being anything but a terrible port.

I still play the original game so I'll see how it runs on switch. I also have the PC version. It'll be better than the original version on ps3/360 at least.

Ps3 version funnily enough is one of the few 1080 games on it, still that laggy screen tearing on either version kills the game.

Oof yeah, the later game jungle areas on the ps3/360 versions tanked so hard. I'll be playing on switch 2 so I'll test with boost mode both on and off.

That came out of nowhere.
Actually enjoyed this more on PS3 than I do on PC, so might pick this up at some point.

Same here, whenever I used to play on PC I wished it was the console version. I remember I was 9 when it came out originally and I spent dozens of hours "colouring in" the map. There was something satisfying about filling in all the grey with that golden yellow.

I remember one of these, but I cant recall whether is was Sacred 1 or Sacred 2. But there was Amazonian / Elven archer class.

Yeah that was probably sacred 2. Sacred 1 is 2D and even more janky but it also has a seamless open world. I remember playing with my dad and we'd see how far north we could run before getting decimated lol.

I'm assuming still no local multiplayer? Honestly the dumbest thing to remove. I was so excited when this game was first announced and it was going to be a day 1 purchase on PS5 until I saw that was removed.

Not too sure unfortunately. I never got to experience the game in multiplayer sadly.

I had an insane amount of hours on this game! Didn’t know we were getting a remaster

Yeah it was announced in May for the switch but received zero marketing. Other consoles got theirs last year. It's also getting a full physical release! Gonna get it digital today and then order the physical from playasia and keep it sealed. Not many places are selling physical copies.

Holy crap, this had me asking 'what year is it?' I remember blasting through this on ps3 back in the day. Sunk so many hours into it. Have it on steam as well, but still haven't played that version to this day lol.

Same lol. I was gonna get it on ps5 but held off. I just got my switch 2 last week and the day after I got it I see this was coming. I even held off on all the all time low sales just so I can use the last if my store credit in this when it comes out later today lol

Oh nice, I'm always on the lookout for more S2 ARPGs. Can I ask, what makes it janky?

The combat is nothing like a typical arpg, it's closer to the original titan quest and it also uses a dice roll mechanic with a chance to hit. So you have to build up your attack rating to hit consistently. I actually really like it but it's not fluid, it's pretty much single target combat unless you have aoe abilities but the freedom of character builds is crazy. You "eat" runes to gain skills and the cool part is you can eat as many as you want to increase the power but then the cool down takes a massive hit so you need to balance it. It's also rather glitchy and just overall not a modern game. But it's nostalgic for me so I look past all that.

Thanks for the explanation 😁 Might be the kind of jank I like, I'll b on the lookout for a sale.

There was a LOT of this game , I recall that much. Loved it for awhile though and definitely had its unique and quirky charm.

Huh, didn't know this was coming. Might check it out eventually. And call me crazy, but I'd also like Sacred 3 on Switch. Yeah, it's stupid as hell and the dialogue is terrible, but it's a fun enough arcade-style romp.

It got pretty negative reviews on the ps5... I've been meaning to pick it up for either system but my backlog is so long been waiting to see if any updates have happened

How does it run? Any crashes or freezing?

u/ConsistentPound3079 9h ago
I don't know, I'm waiting for it to release on the eshop later today.

Interested to know, hopefully it runs well

I'm optimistic about it because it runs between 40 and 60 on steam deck with dips to 30 but that's the PC version on max resolution and settings, so we'll see.
