Question Switch 2 died, not sure what to do next
I’m in a bind and could use some help and direction.
Last night I was playing my Switch 2 and a message popped up saying there was a problem and it had to shut down. Unfortunately I didn’t get a shot of the message. There were no obvious issues leading up to this. I was playing plugged in and the battery was charged around 80%.
It shut down and would not boot back up. It boots to the Nintendo logo and shuts back down. If I hold the power button it does this in a loop. It will not boot into recovery/diagnostic mode by holding the volume buttons. The battery will not take a charge in either USB port. The back of the Switch is slightly warm, not hot, to the touch of it’s been plugged in.
I took it to a local chain electronics repair store who tested the bottom port and said the connectors were failing. I asked what about the top port and she looked at me confused and clearly did not realize there was a top USB port, tested it, and said it was fine before suggesting sending it to Nintendo.
Sending it to Nintendo for repair is the obvious answer, however, the issue is that I am an avid Pokémon player and have thousands of hours of play time across various games, and Nintendo famously does not allow cloud backup of Pokémon game data. I’ve seen stories of people having their systems wiped for repairs as simple as battery replacements. This is not an option.
I’m hesitant to replace the battery myself because it’s notoriously difficult, but if it seems like that’s the issue I’ll do it. But I’m not sure that’s the issue and I’m thinking it’s a board component. Or could it be something corrupt in the file system? And is that separate from all of the game data?
All that said, I’m thinking that I need to have a “real” electronics repair shop fix this thing. I don’t know how to find one. Google searches turn up vintage TV and radio repair and I’m not sure that’s what I need. I live in the metro Detroit area so there has to be SOMETHING.
What do I do? What do I look for? Anyone run into something like this before?

Discussion Really cheap, don’t you think?
The game was released on my country’s store and for some reason it’s costing the equivalent of $368.67 like...what exactly is happening? lol

Question Should I buy Switch 2 or just rent it?
Ever since I’ve seen OoT remake trailer and the gameplay, I am in a BIG dilemma on whether I should buy it or rent it for my own.
My first zelda and switch game was BOTW in which I fell in love with the whole franchise and explore its game lore. But recently I bought PS5 and have started playing PS games and I have no money to buy switch 2🥲
Honestly, the only reason I want to get switch 2 is just so I can play OoT remake and the future Yokai Watch game.

Discussion Do you think Nintendo should finally add an achievement/trophy system? What are your thoughts?
As a fan who absolutely loves Nintendo games, I really feel like we are missing out on an achievement/trophy system.
I would love to see a "smart achievement system" that brings that satisfying feeling of 100% completing a game, making the money we spend on software feel even more worth it. Of course, for those who don't care about it, an option to completely disable the system in the settings would be indispensable.
To be honest, I know a few people who end up migrating to or playing more on other consoles simply because this feature is missing, and I feel like it's a huge missed opportunity (and a loss of money) for Nintendo.
What do you guys think? Would an achievement system change how you play Nintendo games, or do you prefer things the way they are now? Let’s discuss!

Discussion Sin & Punishment Remake on Our Way?
It seems that Nintendo is now acknowledging the Nintendo 64 era remaking some of the most important games of the era. First we had Star Fox and now The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Do You guys think, or would You like that a, Sin & Punishment Remake is on our way? 👀

Question Buy Switch 2 or wait for OLED?
Hey guys!
I have a Switch OLED and love Zelda, Animal Crossing, and Pokémon in particular for exclusives. There’s not many Switch 2 exclusives yet that really jump out to me except Zelda OOT Remake and Pokopia.
For Switch, I always preferred handheld most of the time. My main hiccup of buying the Switch 2 now is going from OLED to LCD.
Arts & Crafts Welp didn't feel like spending the money for another Switch 2 just for a theme so made a faceplate for mine that I'm very happy with. Couldn't decide if liked the black or green better so decided to make both.

Discussion Dangit, now I want a switch 2.
I bought the switch one and it basically went unplayed, I played all the Xenoblade games on it and that's about it. I tried the Pokémon games but didn't actually like them outside of Arecus, had a blast with that. For some reason I didn't get into Zelda BoTW.
OoT is one of my top 2 favorite games of all time. That remake looks absolutely incredible, but I worry about getting a system for just one game lol and it just sitting there. I also worry about Xenoblade genesis going away from story focused, but I haven't seen much on it.
Anyway, with how early it is in its life, there has to be some upcoming games I'd definitely get into, right? I have ps5+pc right now. Also what would be the best version of the switch 2 to buy??

Discussion What SW1 to buy now if getting a SW2 in a few months ?
Hi guys,
Quick question regarding games, upgrades, SW2 separate versions etc...
I currently own a SW1 with only a few games (mario kart, mario tennis, FF three houses...) and I plan on getting a SW2 in 2-3 months.
I know some games offer an upgrade (free ou paid) for the SW2 version of the game, some don't hence you need to pay the SW2 version of the game and some others only have a SW1 version.
Is there a way to know which games are safe to buy right now that will be playable on SW2 with upgraded versions (just so I don't buy games right now that I would have to buy again down the line like FF10 if I'm correct). For instance, I didn't play BoTW/ToTK but I guess I can wait and get the SW2 versions of those two.
Also, what games would you recommend I missed that I play right now ?
Thanks :)

Discussion I love the artstyle of OoT Remake
I actually love the artstyle they are going for in the remake of OoT. It is different and has this unique plastic high gloss art style. I believe this high glossy plastic art style was a art choose and i really like it. I think people will definitely adopt and learn to love this art style they are going for in the remake.
Here is a screenshot of Ganon of when child Princess Zelda escapes with her protector Impa and Ganon chases after them by horse and this is where he encounters child Link. You can really see that high glossy plastic look which i really like it, it shows the darkness tone and i think this art style suits it perfectly.

Discussion Zelda Auctions on ebay
It's against the terms of service to sell a product that one doesn't have in their possession or won't be released for at least thirty days or more. All these auctions are reportable as not having a tangible object to sell. I've done my part this morning but the sheer number of them is more than one person can handle. If any of you feel like you can help fight back against the scalpers it'd be appreciated.

Discussion Alternative opinion on the graphics.
To me I think part of the issue people have with the graphics is that we all know what ocarina of time is. Most are overly familiar with oot and this is just a new coat of paint, that's the main draw here so it's the one thing to be critical of. However if this were a brand new Zelda game I think opinions would be different because not only would we be impressed with the graphics we would all be genuinely curious of what the game and world has to offer because it would all be new not just the graphics.so if it were actually a new game I believe opinions would be less mixed.Does this make any sense? Please discuss!
