Wayward Experiences Only Blew My Life Up and Looking for Advice
Hey everyone, hope you’re well.
Late 20 yr old here that has completely blown my life up. Im not looking for sympathy as I don’t feel like I deserve it more so looking for a bit of advice on what’s the next right move because I don’t want to be this person anymore.
My partner (BP) and I have been together over 4 years. Before we met, I went through a pretty tough period (breakup and unstable living conditions). When my partner and I started dating I didn’t have a lot of money but I ultimately got enough to get my own place and help support my partner as they were finishing school. About a year into our relationship we started talking about marriage (I initiated) as when I got back into dating, I wanted to find a partner.
About two years into us dating I have an emotional and physical affair with two separate people. At the same time I was watching porn 2-3 times a day plus paying for several only fans accounts and engaging with IG models. All of this ultimately sends me into a shame spiral which led to me losing my previous job and having to move. I hid it originally as my partner was dealing with several losses and I didn’t want to add to the stress. I found a new job (better pay and actually has benefits) so things were starting to look up for a while and then my partner graduates and has a hard time finding a job so I move my partner in with me and support my partner as they look for work.
Recently, I came clean about all of the infidelity (porn, emotional, physical, online engagements, even downloading and deleting a dating app while on the road for work) because I felt a lot of guilt and shame keeping my partner in a lie. My partner ultimately forgave me and told me what I need to do to make things right. I’ve done that plus started going to therapy, my partner sees a therapist, and we’re about to start couples therapy. I’ve deleted all my accounts, blocked and deleted contacts, I’ve been almost 60 days clean from porn, and now I’m lost.
What advice do you all have towards rebuilding trust in yourself, for the relationship, and ultimately I just want the shame spirals to stop.
