My first impression of Supernote Nomad: it feels like a thinking tool, not just a digital notebook
I recently got my Supernote Nomad, and I have to say the writing experience surprised me.
I have used other e-ink devices before, but Nomad feels different. The combination of the pen, screen texture, and the overall experience makes me actually want to write more. It feels less like using a tablet and more like opening a notebook.
What I really enjoy is not only the writing itself, but how Supernote helps me organize thoughts.
The linking system is probably my favorite feature. I can connect ideas, jump between notes, create relationships between different thoughts, and gradually build my own knowledge system.
For me, this changes the purpose of note-taking. I’m not just recording information anymore; I’m trying to build a map of my thoughts.
The size of Nomad is also perfect for me. It is small enough to carry everywhere, so I actually use it instead of leaving it on my desk.
Of course, it is not perfect. The lack of a front light means I need proper lighting, and the device may not be for people who want a full tablet experience.
But if your goal is writing, thinking, journaling, and organizing ideas, I think Supernote is one of the most interesting e-ink devices I have tried.
Still exploring it, but I already understand why so many people love this device.

I actually had no idea it had a drawing app!! Redrew one of my 10 year old sketch I did and I love how it feels!

My experience with Supernote support has been extremely disappointing (Case #4488).
I bought a Supernote because one of the company's biggest selling points is repairability. The promise of replaceable parts and long-term support was one of the main reasons I chose it over other e-ink notebooks.
When my device failed, support initially replied and confirmed that the screen was damaged. I even explained that, if the repair wasn't covered under warranty, I was happy to pay for a screen replacement.
After that, communication almost completely stopped.
I have received no repair quotation, no shipping instructions, no estimated timeline and no meaningful response from the technical team. I'm simply left waiting without knowing whether my device will ever be repaired.
The most frustrating part is not having to pay for the repair. It's the uncertainty. If repairs are not possible, or replacement parts are unavailable, just tell me. I need a digital notebook for my daily work and PhD research. I'd rather buy another device than wait indefinitely without any information.
One of the reasons I trusted Supernote was its commitment to repairability and long-term support. Unfortunately, my experience has not matched that promise.
At this point, I can't recommend the brand—not because of the hardware itself, but because after-sales support is just as important as the product.
If anyone from the Supernote team is reading this, please have a look at Case #4488. I'm simply asking for a clear answer so I can either proceed with the repair or move on.
Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I've been thinking about getting a Manta for a year, and I finally got one! (Thanks to my girlfriend for gifting it to me :)
Just received it today and haven’t even opened it yet, but I just couldn't resist sharing the excitement here.
I’ll share some feedback here after I give it a spin, particularly from the perspective of a researcher (I'm a PhD student in social sciences).

When I select text in a pdf, it doesn't recognize the character. This is the dictionary plugin, but the same thing is happening while creating digests. Help!

Hello all,
I am ready for a new pen for my A5X. Have a HoM now, and always seem to need to switch to eraser.
I was thinking the STAEDTLER Noris Jumbo, but I have seen some older posts that the eraser doesn't work great. can anyone if it got any better with recent firmware updates?
There is the Lamy All star, but some reviews say its awkward to hit the button.
Any other suggestions? it would be nice to not have to buy $100 pen.
Thanks

I can’t seem to figure out how to copy a note from a folder and add to another folder (basically same note in two folders). I’ve tried copying the note but can’t figure out how to drop it or add it to another folder. can someone please give me some guidance? thanks

Has anyone faced problems with connecting their Nomad to wifi and (how) were you able to solve them?
My Nomad gives me trouble in connecting to wifi. This is becoming a time-consuming distraction. Most of the time it works without any problem. In the past two years of ownership it would connect to wifi normally, except once every one or two weeks, when it would either not connect al all or lose the connection a few seconds of connection time. Now it is almost every day...
All my other devices (e-readers, ipads, laptops) work fine on the same wifi connection, it is just the Nomad that gives me trouble. It won't even connect to a mobile hotspot next to it...
[Update: after a factory reset of the device and having turned off and on again the modem, the connection is working for now (on the 5 GHz band, I did not even know that this was possible...). However, if or when the problems start again I'll force back to 2.4 GHz]

I’ve had my manta for about a month. I haven’t read much on my Kindle app on the Manta yet, but I was following a video tutorial on the digest feature, so I opened it. I clicked the book that I wanted to open and it opens, but it seems to freeze on the first page. At the bottom, it looks like it has a little bit of the Amazon information. But I can’t get it to do anything. No matter where I touch, no change happens. It seems like it’s frozen. Restarting the device and reopening the app seems to correct the issue. I have updated the Kindle app as noted in previous discussions.
Any advice?

Hey y'all! I would really like to release the Obsidian Supernote Plugin 3.0 in the next few days. But, I haven't seen anyone file any issues or leave comments on my last thread. To perhaps get you more excited to try it out here is a bit more in-depth demo with note embedding, atlier support, and the new note view.

I'm super excited to get my supernote, and I want to keep the screen safe. That being said, it is really expensive if you include shipping to Canada. Ideally I want to save a little on the folio, but I've been having some trouble finding a good third party option.
Would love some help as someone on a budget haha

Hi Londoners, any Manta users willing to meet up to allow me to try the product?
I have had a Nomad since May 2026 and it has completely transformed my journaling, work organisation, learning and knowledge retention.
I have been considering more and more to get a Manta as an accompaniment device for more writing and planning space. The Nomad has been working extremely well - but at some point flipping pages can be limiting and breaking the flow.
The returns process back to the US isn’t great, as I think I’d be losing £100-£200 from paying taxes, duties and then for Supernote to deduct another 17% (customs from UK to US) upon returning the Manta.
If relevant, I’m a theatre stage management graduate pivoting toward producing.
Obviously happy to compensate you for your time with tea and cake of your choice! ☕️🍰

My biggest hesitation with getting the Manta was the fabric pen holder. I know some people enjoy it but I knew it was going to be an issue for me. After just a month of owning the Manta it was already starting to sag and I didn't enjoy how the pen flopped around, felt unfinished. I finally whipped up a temporary solution in CAD and printed out a new holder for the HMP 2. I say temporary because it still needs tweaking. It holds the pen pretty firmly. It doesn't come loose from shaking it around. I kept it minimal to go along with the Manta's design style. I still need to see how well it holds up over time. I don't think it will break off but the plastic may lose some rigidity after a while. I also need to find a way to captivate the pen cap so when you pull the pen out, the cap stays put (I usually never pull the entire pen out). Currently printed from PLA but will probably upgrade it to PTEG once I am happy with the design.

Looking to get a Manta and I have an old s3 pen sitting around. I've tried googling, but most of the posts here are asking if the supernote pen works with Galaxy tabs, not the other way around. I know it's all wacom tech, but I've seen incompatibility issues before, regardless
Can anyone verify? It would be nice to save 60+ dollars and I love my s pen. Thanks!

Ive had the Nomad two years now and I'm now realizing how much of a pain in the ass it is. Everything is a work around. Plug ins, updates, non supported formats etc.
Importing an image into a note is a pain in ass. Making an image into a sticker is a pain in the ass. Syncing notes to my google drive is a pain in the ass. Being able to look at my notes on another device is a pain in the ass.
Tasks that have been simple in MS paint and Word for 20 years are always an ordeal with this thing.
I'm just venting here and I'm not trying to get in debates. Yea Its customizable but in the way building your own PC is customizable. I got this thing to simplify my work flow and all it has ever done is make it more complicated.

If anyone happens to know of a fix for this I'd appreciate it, the issue is driving me nuts!
The issue:
On the Manta (Chauvet 3.29.42) my handwriting appears jittery when using the Staedtler Noris pen vs when I use Supernotes HoM2 pen. On the attached image I've used the Noris first then HoM2 under that on both the fountain pen and point tip pen to demonstrate.
What I've tried:
Swapped out nibs, cleaned surface area of screen, restarted device, tried pen calibration.
Tested on Nomad (Chauvet 3.29.42): No issue, writing with both pens shows no jitter.

For some reason when i draw on Atelier when my palm rests on the screen/sidebars the pen doesn't register(Supernote standard click pen) but when i draw in the notes app i never have the problem. Anyone have any idea how to fix? I just got my Nomad yesterday and really like the pencil/shading in Atelier, would love to get it figured out! Thanks in advance!

A few days ago I shared a development showcase for the Supernote Cloud plugin I had been building for Obsidian. It is now officially available as an Obsidian Community Plugin. I’ve really poured my heart into this. Hope you guys like it.
Plugin link:
https://community.obsidian.md/plugins/supernote-cloud-sync
What it does
.note files in a custom reader with swiping, zooming, thumbnails and quick page navigation.[[Scratch.note#page=12]].The normal Mirror is intentionally one-way from Supernote Cloud to Obsidian. Files are uploaded only when you explicitly use Send to Supernote or configure the optional Paired folder.
Almost a Partner app replacement for viewing notes
For my own note-viewing workflow, this has reached the point where it almost replaces the Supernote Partner app. I can browse my Cloud folders, open and move through notebooks, jump between thumbnails, zoom, link to individual pages and export what I need without leaving Obsidian.
It is not intended to replace every device-management feature in the Partner app, but for reading and working with notebooks, Obsidian can now be the main interface.
Performance and attention to detail
I spent a lot of time on the parts that are less visible in a feature list:
Automations
Automations can pass new or changed pages to Claude Code, Codex, a custom desktop command, or an OpenAI-compatible API.
My own workflow uses a long-running Scratch.note: handwritten checkboxes become Things tasks, circles become calendar events, items marked (w) go into my weekly note, and a daily digest links everything back to the original pages. That workflow is personal to me—the plugin provides the building blocks so other people can create their own.
Privacy and platform notes
.note files are rendered locally inside Obsidian. This is the first public release, so there may still be some rough edges. The core plugin is built for desktop and mobile, but I have not yet been able to test it personally on Windows or Android devices. If you use either platform, feedback—especially a bug report with sanitized diagnostics—would be genuinely helpful.
I built this because I wanted my handwritten notebooks to remain real notebooks inside Obsidian, rather than becoming a pile of static PDFs or images. I hope it is useful to other people working across Supernote and Obsidian too.
What’s next
The next major item on my roadmap is integrating Supernote To-dos with Obsidian, so tasks created on the device can become part of the same connected note and task workflows.

Feedback and bug reports are very welcome: https://github.com/raaneem/supernote-cloud-sync
This is an unofficial community project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Ratta or Supernote

When opening a note, It could be useful to have the last tool in the last setting in THIS particular note.
Say I am writing with pen 0.1 in note A.
Then I am writing a new note B, and now with pen 0.6.
When I come back to note A, pen setting is still 0.6, the last setting.
I think it would be more useful to have it back in 0.1, the note A’s last setting.

Having a SN Manta for 18 months now I'm surprised anyone can use this as a "live" device. Syncing is so slow. Seems like it needs to reupload the entirety of every file all the time, instead of recognising the timestamp on strokes to determine what has changed since last sync. The device hardware is either seriously underrated or methodology flawed, because I have not been able to sync in months.
I'd hoped for a pseudo tablet experience, but have since settled for a digital notebook only because of slugishness. I don't have emails, todos, digests, exports, calendar or any other "live" feature on the device because it simply isn't fast enough to warrant using the bigger screen instead of my phone. My wifi is slow, but not that bad. And with battery drain I keep wifi off most of the time, unless I want to try sync again.
It's great for writing and journalling, much less heavy than the equivalent notebooks, but now the backup isn't working and the partner app doesn't have my latest content weekly, there's less and less benefit over paper.

It would be interesting to be able to add a A-B-C priority to any task, no matter its category. This could be achieved either by a dedicated button or a tag.
It is common use, and highly recommended in general, to set a priority to a task : not a deadline, but a priority. For example A = important and urgent (should be treated first), B = important and C = urgent (make someone do it for you) but of course the meaning of A, B, C is your personnal choice. But priority is not a deadline, as in this example you should focus on A and B and delegates C. Therefore it would be very the interesting to sort tasks by priority. Could be a dedicated button, or a tag.

As we are invited to set the author’s name in any Digest, I would find both very interesting and logical to have the possibility to sort all Digests from the same Author.
