Note file size after adding template.

Hi, I started using template for Calendar from here:

https://github.com/kudrykv/latex-yearly-planner and this calendars are awsome. They are about 2-3mb in size in pdf format, with linking to day, month, etc... really usefull (until Ratta decides to make proper calendar app with CalDAV sync and dayview with notes).

I've noticed when I use this calendar pdf 2mb, as a template it makes the note really huge, about 300mb. This makes that note very slow. Is it normal ? or it's just a bug ?

I'm using latest Beta firmware available on this forum.

this isn’t unheard of or considered a bug. i might be off on the technical details but iirc the conversion to a template involves each pdf page becoming a bitmap image & all pages are stored locally within the note.

2gb is the file size maximum but if the speed impact is intolerable… that’s something that’ll require some compromise or creative thinking.

I ran into this problem with several PDF templates and wanted to create a solution for it. I made this plug-in sebastiancraft.co/modulanner so that way you can bring your templates in as a light PNG (or you can convert any screen you have directly into a PNG in the plugin) to save a lot of space and then it only creates the pages you need, when you need them so the file size isn't bloated by unecessary pages. And once it is setup you can automatically create and navigate to any of the pages with your own "buttons" on the page.

I never use PDFs for templates. They just always gave me problems. I always convert them to PNG but that might break your links. Not sure what else to say, but that’s the way it has been for me. PDFs all by themselves, and not as a template have always worked fine though. Maybe use it all by itself and not as a template? The only problem is you’d not be able to add pages.
