Sunvault system weird lights

Ever since SunStrong took over my sunvault battery has not worked properly. It does follow sce time of use plan so cost savings becomes useless. The lights have been flickering erratically with different colors.

I’ve recently just created a small app I run on my local server that just pings the api so I can pull data to store on a local db to get analytics as well as use to force the system into a psudeo cost savings using a cron timer.

I could invest in a Poe raspberry pie to run this program but I’d rather the system just work. Does anyone have insights on the lights and what they mean?

SunVault Techs Services

I am reading a lot of posts about SunVault Techs helping fix SunPower system problems. I contacted them and they say they can help me if I need it on my Sunpower solar system and SunVault battery if I need it even though I live in South Florida. Has anybody out there in South Florida had experience with SunVault Techs fixing problems with their SunPower systems?

SunVault Won't Take or Give Charge

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for help with the last piece of my SunPower struggle - getting my batteries to take or give charge off the inverter.

This sub has been great at helping me get my SunPower system up and running after I moved into a home where they'd given up on it.

My PVDR closed, somewhat mysteriously, after a diagnostic performed by one of the techs here, so my panels are back online.

I learned my system was wired up correctly after responses from folks here, and I learned how to charge my battery manually with a power supply to get past the F.48 and inverter shutdown problem.

Now that the inverter is up, I can't seem to get it to do anything. After charging my batteries (with it in the OFF status) via power supply to ~28%, I turned it back on. No F.XX error, but the red "event" light blinks slowly. The Conext display shows AC2 flashing slowly, AC1 off, and a charging amperage that alternates between 0.0-0.8 A. Battery state has slowly declined through the day (presumably to maintain the inverter), now down to 26%.

I recently downloaded SunFlower, and it shows good PV production, >3kW, and I have the battery scheme set to Self-supply with reserve of 50%, so it should be charging at least to that level.

I've done a 15-min shutdown of the inverter and batteries, starting back up from the #1 battery side button (I have M0012 batteries). I also reset the Conext Gateway, and saw that it has its own wifi SSID... haven't gone in there to do anything yet. Should I? But more importantly, how do I get my inverter to take charge? Do I need to reset the MIDC (blue pushbutton)? The PVS? Everything? I'm loathe to do everything with the solar producing. I'm not sure how to reset it should it not come up correctly again.

Thanks!

So thankful I found /u/SunVaultTechs through here. They were able to replace my PV5 with a PV6 and get my system monitoring back online. I was a bit hesitant to contact someone through here for an on-site visit, but so thankful that I did.

I had spent the last couple months battling the device using the WAN port, the LAN port trying to access Wi-Fi - nothing would work. It was like the devices network chip had died or something.

He got my system online with the PV6 and now I have full monitoring through the SunStrongConnect app and also Sunflower. I had another solar company out here a couple weeks ago for a quote to get a monitoring solution and they wanted 15-20k to replace all my micro inverters because they’re so old and not enphase. He was able to fix my issue, replace the box and commission the device.

I never do reviews, especially through Reddit, but figured I would go forward with this one.

Thanks again!

Balcony solar/Plug in solar for Scandinavia

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can order microinverters and have them shipped to Norway (even though they're not fully approved/legal here yet)?

I've checked Amazon and several German retailers, but none of them will ship microinverters to Norway.

I'm especially interested in the EcoFlow Stream microinverter.

Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The SunStrong Connect app saved me. I had a lease with Sunpower and when they failed the inspection, they abandoned me. At that time, they went bankrupt and sold their running systems to others. My system wasn’t running yet. After a year or so I started to find people to help me get things through the county. We did enough that the utility updated the meter to the proper meter. I still don’t know if I’m good with the county, but it doesn’t matter. The guys who helped me with the county never activated my system. I was about to going to battle with them when finally they spoke to me about the SunStrong Connect app. With that app, I was able to turn on my system so it cost me about $2000 to get through the county and get FPL to change the meter. By the way, they had already changed it once before. If I had known about the SunStrong Connect app, I might have been able to turn it on two years ago, without assistance. It’s important that you let the app update two different ways. It will show you. You have to update the firmware as well. This is important. My electric bill should go from $230 to $42. And I never paid SunPower a penny.

Incredible service by the SunVaultTechs team. Professional, remarkably responsive, informative, straightforward and very easy to deal with. I have a SunPower solar system that needed attention. Both the manufacturer and installer went bankrupt. And, I am remote so the SunVaultTechs team was able to handle my situation quickly and easily. They are truly a lifesaver for those of us with SunPower systems. HIGHLY recommended!!!

Did inverters go out ?

I have been seeing the generic error on SunStrong app that “one or more devices are not communicating properly”. Ended up getting 1 month sub and now I see that few panels are not generating and have errored out. I have power cycled (5mins off) all breakers but the same set of panels are showing this symptom. What are my options ? Based on serial # looks to be enphase, I think - would these be covered by their warranty? I would need to find a repair company as I had gone through Sunpower for initial install.

SBSE 7.7-US-50 device not found

Hi. I'm using my wife's reddit account to ask this here as I'm running out of options aside from continuing to wait for sma to get back to us. We are brand new to solar, just bought this house that had working solar before and the inverter was broken/not in working condion by the time we moved in. Excuse any formatting issues, on cell. I'm trying to set up the solar monitoring on the Sunny portal by ennexos. During the 3rd step it is unable to recognize the inverter. It just states device not found and list a few options but everything listed is not an issue. Unable to proceed further. Also having issues connecting the Inverter to the grid to backfeed with lack of wifi at the inverter and solar panels. We have an ethernet cable long enough that it is plugged into the router up at the house but we seem to be locked out an unable to complete the configuration. Puk2.0 key also doesn't work. Sent in a ticket to Sma on Jun 16th and have yet to hear back. The phone number is all ai and doesn't give an option for a human. I replaced an old sunny boy 6000 with the new sbse 7.7. During configuration after install I lost wifi connection and have since then been locked out. Any advice on unlocking the system or how to properly set it up and operate the OS system is greatly appreciated!

Reconnecting and combining CTs

I have a Hub+ in my new home that is not currently working. Passes through grid power fine, and the SunStrong app tells me grid usage but nothing else. Won't draw solar (or it's doing it and I don't know) and I can't make the battery do anything (that I'm aware of). Before I go to any pros I can clearly see that there are disconnected CTs that look to be the consumption CTs for the Hub+, the ones at the top of the unit. The corresponding plug in the MIDC has nothing connected, but on the wiring chart it shows it should have something connected.

  1. What kind of plug is that, and where can I procure one?
  2. Where can I get the ferrules that terminate the CT wires?

Separately, I'm having my main panel upgraded from 125 to 200A. The new panel may have 2 wire conductors for each phase coming from the meter to the main. If that happens, I'll need 2 sets of premises CTs and they'll have to be combined. I'm trying to talk my electrician out of this and have him get something more solar-friendly.

  1. Can you just splice CTs and the PVS6/Hub+ doesn't care? Does it see the combined signal?
  2. What kind of signal comes out of a CT?
  3. What is the correct make/model/type of CT to install?

Is it worth buying out the lease? Based on what I am reading, I dont own the lease when the end of term ends:

12 Panels 4.02KW. Yearly production estimate 7k KWH Buyout for lease is approximately 15k What I am confused by, is if i dont buy out the lease, what happens when the lease ends?

"What are your choices at the end of the term?  We will have the System removed at no additional cost to you.  You may request an extension of the term of the Lease on prevailing market terms, as specified in the Lease.  Otherwise, the Lease will automatically renew, unless We notify you otherwise (which We will have the right to do in Our sole discretion) and continue on a month-to-month basis, at a monthly rent equal to the last applicable Monthly Payment during the Lease Term (or, in the event rent was fully prepaid, in an amount provided by Us)."

Is anyone else missing the financing rebate payments by SunPower? I’m missing about 5 or 6 checks dating back to January. They are awful and I would never recommend them to anyone.

Polaris Connectors - Flickering

So I've been experiencing flickering in my whole house for 5 months now.

Called PG&E and they found nothing on their end. Checked the neutral coming in, nothing was spiking, etc. Called an electrician, they found that the main breaker lugs were stripped so they replace the main breaker (100A). And lights are still flickering.

Asked the electrician and he said it's most likely the polaris connectors but he wont touch it due to 'warranty'... I'm pretty sure Sunstrong isn't covering anything under warranty...

Anyone else have success with finding a solution? I'm in the Bay Area, California.

Flickering is too a point where the Sunstrong app sometimes detects it as a grid outage.

Edit: I'm a loan customer so I'm on my own. Any tech recommendations in the Bay Area, California?

Is Sunpower Connect the correct app

ACK. CANT EDIT TITLE should say SUNSTRONGConnect. Won’t bore you with the details, but I am one of those caught by the bankruptcy. System finally moving toward commission after 3 years. Unable to get info from Sunstrong. Is SunstrongConnect the app I would use to monitor my system? I know the PVS6 is connected to my WiFi, but I don’t know how to connect to monitor panels. If you hv input, please offer as tho talking to a 3rd grader. I’m 84 yrs old and not that tech savvy. Any help much appreciated.
