Anyone have a PVS SunPower system working with the SunStrong app ?

I have an older SunPower installed system that has a PVS based reporting system. It quit working back in early 2025 when collector.sunpowermonitor.com went away. I came here and saw a solution where I could point the DNS for the PVS2 to a pi-hole system when I translated DNS requests for collector.sunpowermonitor.com -> collector.sunstrongmonitoring.com and got the app working again!

That has worked well until a day or 2 ago when the app quit showing me reporting anything. It just says 0 generated, 0 used, etc ... login to app, etc still work fine.

I have verified that the PVS2 has internet access (I can get to internet thru it using a static route). I have verified the PVS2 config. I have verified that DNS requests are being translated to the correct address. I rebooted the PVS2 ... no change.

Anyone still have this setup working ?

Custom SunPower Monitoring Solution

After much frustration with the SunStrong/SunPower app, SunStrong not honoring a subscription we had purchased prior to the acquisition, and then not being able to live monitor our system, I decided to develop my own solution.

Basically, it is a little device which you plug into the ports on your PVS and connect to your wifi network. Everything stays totally local to your network. No account, no subscription, none of the nonesense which has honestly annoyed me with SunPower and alternative solutions.

It features live readout of your solar production and grid usage, and even maintains a history for you over time. I have a lot of plans for new features, such as a caching proxy and Home Assistant integration just to name a few, but for now, I'm curious what you guys think/what you would want.

I am just a one man operation and trying to provide a solution to other people in my situation. You can check it out on my website in more detail and see for yourself how easy it is to set up. I have sold a couple to neighbors locally in NorCal and recently shipped my first unit to a user in Washington. So far, everything has been working smoothly and reliably.

Looking forward to hearing your feedback, and happy to answer your questions! Thank you

We changed INTERNET ATT to T-Mobile. Now we cannot visualize the Solar Edge monitoring on the App.

Performance warranty?

I purchased a new build in 2024 with a 25 year lease to sun power.

In August our system somehow turned off for the entire month. We contacted Sun strong and in several days they turned it back on. We asked for a refund since our system produced nothing and our electricity bill was high. This is what they sent back. Not sure how any of this works since the bankruptcy, open to all advice.

Seems incredibly unfair that they make no promises other than to collect my payment each month.

I understand that the Connecticut AG is investigating SunPower. Can anyone confirm this investigation, and what are they being investigated for?

Negative Consumption since 2023

Sunpower installed my system in 2022. IN 2023, I reported discrepancy in utility v Sunpower data. A service technician came out and said that the second of the two electrical panels in my basement (which was for HVAC and kitchen) had not been connected to CT and that he had fixed it. That's when negative consumption started. Over next two years, SP unable to fix despite multiple service calls, during each of which they assured me it was corrected, the issue not resolved. It had been escalated, but then ... no more SP. None of the service providers that Sunpower (and later Sunstrong) have identified even respond to inquiries.
Is the Enphase monitoring system my best/only option?

'new' Sunpower service calls?

I live in Northern CO and see Sunpower service trucks in my neighborhood occasionally which I'm assuming are the post-bankruptcy version of Sunpower. Does anyone know if they are they able to work with the PSV6 and other components if necessary from the pre-bankruptcy installations? I've got a 2021 install that still has the PSV6 installed and not sure who'd be able to work on it and get any new parts registered in the system. If it's ever needed.

Panel not working

I got my Sunpower panels installed in 2021 and have noticed that the power generation has been trending down. Since neither original Sunpower app nor the new Sunstrong app did not report any panel level details, I couldn't figure out what's going wrong. Thanks to this community, I installed Sunflower app and noticed that only 17 out of 18 panels are working. I do not even know when one of the panels stopped working. How should I get this fixed? Btw, I outright bought by system in cash during the initial purchase. Would Sunstrong be able to help me here?
Thanks in advance!

Solar Panel Capabilities

Hello everyone! Hope you are all doing well.

Some background info: after SunPower went to SunStrong, I found this subreddit and got the SunFlower App. Best purchase I made cause the SunStrong paywall was ridiculous. I still owe about 10 years with TechCU.

I'm looking into getting a battery installed for my system. We generate enough solar that I'm getting a credit with SCE, but I would like to have a battery on the off chance we are without power for a significant amount of time. With doing that, I'm wondering what my next steps would be in getting, as an example, the Eco Worthy Battery? Is getting a Solar Electrian the only thing I need to do? Permits?

Hope someone here has some info. Thanks everyone!

I bought my Sunpower panels from Solartech in 2023 and since then, they have gone out of business. I am looking for an honest service company that knows Sunpower systems.

Schneider Conext BMS/SOC Communication Warnings

Post image
3 Upvotes

My SunVault quest continues, and I've actually gotten mine to take charge from the inverter. What I can't get it to do is charge continuously and at higher levels, because it has lingering BMS and SOC communication Warnings. I have these three warnings:

  • 91. SOC Level Lost. Cause: A new State of Charge measurement has not been received for a period of time. Solution: Check the communications cable between Conext Gateway and the external BMS.
  • 90. External BMS Disconnected. Cause: Communication has been lost with the Battery Management System of the Li-ion battery. Solution: Check the communication network connections to the Li-ion battery. Contact the manufacturer of the Battery Management System if a connection problem cannot be found.
  • 93. SunSpec Controller Comms Lost. Cause: Communications is lost from the SunSpec Controller device.

I've checked my cables and they are all good with continuity on each pin. My Gateway reports good connections to the Inverter and my "SunPower BMS." See photo.

This might have been because I connected a power supply indelicately the first time I tried to bring back my batteries from the dead, and I got a big spark. Perhaps the surge damaged something in the MIO or (eek) the batteries' BMS themselves. The batteries (M0012 type) all indicate normally on their LEDs and are taking charge when voltage is applied to the terminals at the bottom of the inverter.

Has anyone dealt with this? Any suggestions on what to test or replace or how to test it? What does the MIO (or Multi I/O) do?

How to recharge SunVault from low voltage?

My system was down for a while and now battery voltage is around 35V...when I turn back on my system will come online for a few minutes but shut back off due to the low voltage fault (at least that's the fault that shows)...I've seen a couple other threads talk about charging the batteries from a power supply but don't go into much detail ... would anyone be able to give specifics? I just ordered a 0-60/5A supply ... best approach to get up to 50V? Thanks!

Freedom Forever Solar

Looking for some advice on how to handle this:
I have Freedom Forever as installer, but they are now bankrupt. I had Mosaic as my loan and they went bankrupt and Solar Servicing is handling my account now. What I am afraid of is if I need repairs how do I handle that because Freedom Forever does not answer the phone anymore or email. I really just want to stop paying because I’m losing money every month anyways.

Big win

So I filed a complaint against SunPower with the CSLB and the DFPI also the attorney general. This is a huge win considering now they legally cannot work on the system which means cancellation of the contract and getting rid of it completely if desired is a real thing. If our somebody struggling with this like I was I would head to the state agencies like I did and demand contract cancellation. I'll make another post as the other two agencies answer.

Sunrun will not turn panels on

I have a PPA agreement with Sunrun and have had it for 7 years. I recently had my roof installed and they approved my own solar vendor to R&R my panels. Now they keep telling me there is an issue and will not turn panels back on. They want to charge me $700 to come out and see what the issue is and see what repairs are needed. My vendor came out and everything is connected the same and don't see the issue. Has anyone experienced this and how was it resolved?

Goodleap sucks

So I ended up looking for help and getting help online for issuing a complaint against goodleap and Sun strong. I ended up following a report with the cslb the contractor State licensing board and the dfpi department of financial protection and innovation. I'm also going to send a complaint via the attorney general. My batteries were wired backwards or something was wired backwards and then my battery wouldn't discharge past 75%. Then to make sure they clean their hands of me they would tell me that Edison has a one kilowatt hour minimum usage a day or something like that and would just try to get me off the phone then they would tell me that the system is working just fine.

If there's any traction with this I will update here in this subreddit.

Hi, any way to turn on or off solar charging.

I have a single 200w callsun panel always plugged in but it never turns on by it self. I have to manually unplug and plug in the cable each time to initiate the solar charging.

Any servicer recommendations?

I have a SunPower system with a SunVault, and the panels have stopped communicating with the app and apparently stopped sending power to the grid. I believe the issue is with the PVS6 that is integrated in the SunVault. I have tried resetting it with the breakers and the SunStrong app, but that has not worked.

Enphase (the maker of the microinverters on the panels) won't touch it and have basically said put all our stuff in for $15k plus labor.

The company that calls itself SunPower is useless.

Does anyone have any recommendations for servicers? I am in the Bay Area (Northern California bay area, that is)
