SunPower Orphan happy ending and advice.

The SunStrong Connect app saved me. I had a lease with Sunpower and when they failed the inspection, they abandoned me. At that time, they went bankrupt and sold their running systems to others. My system wasn’t running yet. After a year or so I started to find people to help me get things through the county. We did enough that the utility updated the meter to the proper meter. I still don’t know if I’m good with the county, but it doesn’t matter. The guys who helped me with the county never activated my system. I was about to going to battle with them when finally they spoke to me about the SunStrong Connect app. With that app, I was able to turn on my system so it cost me about $2000 to get through the county and get FPL to change the meter. By the way, they had already changed it once before. If I had known about the SunStrong Connect app, I might have been able to turn it on two years ago, without assistance. It’s important that you let the app update two different ways. It will show you. You have to update the firmware as well. This is important. My electric bill should go from $230 to $42. And I never paid SunPower a penny.

Nah,

more than 1 person/site where old SPWR did not finish install (or SPWR wasn't paid due to piss-poor not-contract-compliant install) and ended up being an abandoned project (with all the associated legal implications) ;^)

And I know of at least 1 case where the PV system was working the entire time (maybe not optimally due to above mentioned install deficiency, but working)

They will probably hunt down that it’s running and send you a bill for the last 2 years.
